Adidas 4DFWD Review: How does Adidas’s new 3D-printed shoe perform on the run?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 авг 2024
- It only takes one glance at the Adidas 4DFWD to know that this is not your typical running shoe, with the 3D-printed midsole stand standing out straight away. Even within Adidas’s 4D range the 4DFWD offers something new, with a bowtie-shaped lattice structure that designed to propel you forward with each stride.
Run Testers Nick has been running in the Adidas 4DFWD ahead of its launch, and in this video he looks at whether the shoe stands up as a solid easy day option in what is a very competitive section of the running shoe market.

Oh my...
"Did an easy half marathon" at 4:12/km!
That feels like a sprint to me... in a tank of a shoe...
thanks for the only actual review ive seen where they actually run in the running shoe for the review!
The main selling point is that these look better than other running shoes. They're more for lifestyle wear that can be used for casual running.
Wow, that’s amazing! I have a couple pairs of 4Ds but it will be cool to see more 3D printed soles plus primeknit blue/green or even parley sustainable fabrics. Really cool adidas
Love how his easy half marathon time was at my PB. To be expected but just how casual he said it made me laugh.
Yeah but Nick's rubbish at table tennis, so you know, swings and roundabouts.
They could've added some rubber barrier on the side area to prevent the dust, small rocks twigs and some other unnecessary things to get inside that tiny holes that could affect the performance of the shoe. Maybe a little bit of ventilation to keep the air going in and out every time it landed on ground.
They should make these with really flexible side coverings so pebbles and liquid wont pass through the sole.
Since your a heel striker nick, can you do a mizuno prophecy review? i had the alphaedge and the run 1.0, they're really firm. People who like "responsive" shoes would love them. but 4d is heavy so there's that. oh, and i run with them, not as often though because of a large rotation.
So which one do you prefer? Carbon plate or this one?
Reminds me of the blades. Wonder which is better.
Nice work! So you casually ran a half to test these out? Wow!
Nick's casual half only takes an hour and a bit! 😂😂😂 We hate him.
Did he say that he does a daily half marathon? I couldn’t figure out what he said.
But what is the price and do they come in a size 14?
Anyone know how these shoes fit on wider feet?
It's that kind of shoe, for me at least, that is nice to know about but not something that I'll consider buying. It gives me the same vibe when adidas introduced the springblade concept.
As a performance runner i already ditched my Ultraboost! So far i'm lovin the energy return!
@@ugfupiojpjk2670 I made it two runs in 4D shoes before going back to Ultraboost. These things are HEAVY.
@@staubio You need to get use to them! Totally different feel thats for sure but i cant complain! Works for me, but like they say; it it ain't broke! The Ultraboosts were awesome!
4d vs ultraboost 21 which one better?
Ultraboost 21.
4d
Are you going to do a review of the Asics Metaspeed Sky?
We are indeed, just waiting to get the shoe still.
4D is so cool
Will this colourway be released again later in the year?
It’s hard to say because the initial colorway was a limited release, but the latest Tokyo collection color is available and plenty of sizes are up for grabs on adidas website.
At least you were able to get a pair. I took an L trying to them.
Can you, as an expert, explain to me how I can search through all the different lines of Adidas running shoes to see which one suits for me, if their website doesn't give an explanation of what which line is designed for?
It’s pretty vague on there! Very broadly, of a shoe has Adizero in the name it’s a racier number (Boston, Adios), while the Boost shoes are more everyday trainers (Solarboost, Ultraboost).
@@TheRunTesters okay, thank you. I will try to narrow it down. Not feeling like reading through 130+ individual descriptions.
Think the site is built up very poorly when it comes to explanation and narrowing down.
If it gets too tedious, I might just switch to an overall different brand.
Yeah it’s not ideal! Can advise a bit more if you have a couple you like look of, but lot of brands like to hedge and say shoes are good for lots of things!
@@TheRunTesters Thank you. I'm in special need for supportive shoes that not only give strength in the foot area, but also keep the knees stable, as I deal with arthritis and loose tendons/luxation. The look of the shoe is secondary, if I find a good supportive pair that also gives a mix of cushioning and boost.
@@TheRunTesters shall we use this shoe for 200 m pls reply
Would you say this fits similar to primeknit Ultraboosts?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's Not Just 3D-Print as Time as Factor is also incl. . It's real 4D-technology and Not Just consits of 3D-printing only.
4D is and will be Always perfection with the down Side of Not being a shoe for Muddy Terrain and Not for Sandy beaches.
Combining e.g. Litestrike-Frame with BOOST-inserts Copy the 4D-network, are shoes also for Muddy Terrain and have No issues with Sandy beaches. But are Not as perfect as 4D.
Who can do it better, today? There is No other Brand doing is with more perfection, right now.
4D is No Marketing-Gag.
It looks like it was designed by H. R. Giger. Did they have to make the midsole bone colored?
Haha that's an unexpected reference for a running channel! I don't love the look, but I tend to stay out of that because I don't know what's cool anymore anyway!
Excellent information, adidas is pushing this release hard in all their online advertising. It just seemed gimmicky to me, maybe version 4 or 5 of this tech will be worth it.
Unless you are getting a full scholarship to a top University for running, or are a professional runner, I don't really get the obsession with running shoes, in particular weight of the shoe. I purchased very good running shoes almost 40 years ago, including Adidas model Peachtree (they looked similar to these) and were as light weight as I would want them to be.
I can only imagine that sole full of tiny stones and pebbles
its really easy to clean apparently. thatz what they say
Now I can’t get this image out of my head
Just use compressed air and blow them out
That's really my concern too.
Imagination eh Lad.....🤣😂🤣
Do they fit true to size ?
3:10
3D printed things are supposed to be for cost savings - these shoes are super expensive. Maybe after a generation or two the R&D costs will have been recovered and they will be cheaper.
Dirt and little pebbles will be trapped in the pretty 4D sole. 😱
Haha I did get mine dirty pretty quickly
4D trainers!
Why takes it so Long Time for adidas and Puma to Develop e.g. Plated shoes...even first plated shoe came from adidas more than a decade ago?
If a Runner switch between different Prototypes of a bigger series too often the quality of information is getting from very good to worse the more often the shoes/Prototypen are switched.
If you do daily Training/Testruns and Switch between Prototypes each day you more or less sacrifice your feet, knees, hips and backbone as the feet can Not adapt to the "new" shoes.
You can Switch between two Pairs day by day in Case of shoes you already Adapted but Not a whole series of Prototypes.
4D-technology is different.
Many runners are measured and 4D should Provide all high level of Support and Protection.
Finally e.g. Litestrike-Framed BOOST-inserts appear as the results of Progress based on the experiences with 4D.
The adidas adizero Pro has a Litestrike-Framed BOOST-insert.
What comes next based on 4DFWD?
Looks super cool but still super pricey
Denver shoe 👟
Say what?
They look really good, but not the best for running, really.
For sure the new Type of propulsion the 4DFWD offer is better than by Propulsion-Plates.
peba/Pebax is never Firm enough too be healthy for the Runner.
ZOOM- Air-Pockets is 180° working against the 4DFWD-effect. 4DFWD is preventing lifting the risk of uneccessary injuries of a athlete during training on high level of propulsion.
With a 4DFWD you can train inkl. high level of propulsion excl. the negative sideffects of the combination of carbon-plated deeply inserted into the midsole and overcushioning.
adidas with Plates are Top-Board-Plates only and the Energy Rods do their Job near to the 4DFWD as the Metarsals can Push the Energy Rods inkl. motions as offered by the 4DFWD for loading and Energy Return. At straights Like at cornering.
A deeply inserted Plate reduces the Push and loading even eliminates this effect. Same with those Zoom-Air-Pockets.
All adidas shoes Like adizero Pro, adios Pro and 4DFWD are the new way of running. Run without Lifting the risk of uneccessary injuries.
I’m sure a lot of sneaker heads will use them for lifestyle wear. They look nice to lounge about city on a daily basis.
Just lean Forward at running and you will understand the 4DFWD.
Soccer Players do lean Forward at running more or less without awareness. I do Not Talk about the fast following Defensive Player. I Talk about the reaction when swithing from studded shoes for Grass playgound to running shoes with drop Like Here at the 4DFWD.
Most runners criticsing 4DFWD, react with lordosis-positiion on shoes with drop.
The 4DFWD will bringt you in the trained Soccer Player Position at shoes with drop. What Happens If a Zoom-Air Pockets is braking a FWD-motion....Impuls for being Pushes into the lordosis-positiion. E.g. Hips issues come Up ... uneccessary injuries. Even Promoted by Propulsion-Plates deepky inserted into the midsole which is too soft/overcushioned.
Even you are Not running in lordosis-positiion the Push by Zoom-Air, even midsoles without Zoom-Air-Pockets is towards lordosis-positiion.
4DFWD is eliminating this Push. Metarsals Push the 4D-misole FWD the 4DFWD-network gets loaded and reutns Energy for propulsion. No spring-plate-effect is used for propulsion and finally uphill you don't need to Work against a plate. The Energy Rods are even tilting and tipping uphill. The adizero Pro offers some remaining Rocker-Effect uphill.
4DFWD is the basement for a 100% solution. Next High Performance running shoe of adidas will have it roots in the 4DFWD, I guess.
Dude, that looks heavy for a running shoe.
S a l o m o n s n e à k e r s larach adidas good modern top dezayner adidas 11 ,11
Too heavy
Too pricey
Too ugly.
Is the height at the heel to protect your calf?
Honestly what’s the point of this shoe? Lol
