- Omnibot 5402 - Tomy has created toy robots throughout the years and in the 80's created a line of small personal robots. It is truely astounding what they were able to acomplish utilizing the resources at the time to manufacture and sell this product line.
The Omnibot had a cassette tape player built into the chest area of the robot, which slid out like a drawer to reveal the cassette and could record and playback sequences of commands, as well as regular audio recordings. The built in digital clock with timers and alarms allowed the playback of movement recordings at specified times. It was able to broadcast speech from the remote control handset through a speaker on the robot, and was shipped with a cardboard "home" base which was suggested to be taped to the floor and used as a reference point for programming. The Omnibot carried a specially made tray which slotted into its claws, and could carry objects.

5. General Operating time: Battery Life: 4 hours continuous at 5.5 V (normal) , Battery Indicator: red light indicates when discharged to 5.77 volts , Operating Temperatures: 41 Degrees F~104 Degrees F (5 Degrees C~40 Degrees C)
6. Microphone type: dynamic, 300 - 600
7. Operating R/C frequency: The Remote came in 3 Frequencies: 49.860 Mhz (US), 27.145 Mhz (Europe), 40.680 Mhz (TAL)
8. External outlets: Speaker: 8 ohms
9. Bulbs for eye-lights 2.8v, 200ma use not more than 3v 250ma 10. Remote Control 4 * 1.5v (AA)

lol my dad had this thing as I was growing up...he loved it. He was always driving it to my room with a drink in it's hand...and talking through it like a robot haha.
OMG! I'm a child of the 80's and I remember seeing this in a catalog (I think it was the Spiegel catalog. Of course, it was too expensive for me to ever ask my Mom for. Thanks for bringing back some old memories...

Very cool robot but also it shows how humans need to stop enslaving robots and making them bring us our snacks and drinks. Robots deserve their own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness!!

I did not think it was so great at the time, you see I was very ill and sick. Some of my wonderful doctors said I had a 30-70 chance of being alive. I still sell items ( Mostly Sci-Fi ) on eBay. I have always been a geek and a Sci-Fi nut at heart. I have so much in my Sci-Fi collection. I am very thankful for being alive but my life has changed my out look of the world. I was in U.S. ARMY in the FIRST gulf war. Do you know which one I am talking about ? I'll just let you think on that one.

could you please tell me where did you get this sound which was running like a radio sound. I find it rather cool for this guy. I have one as well and would like to record it into the robot.
The way to get one is find one that works...Ask ALOT of questions from a seller on ebay. We hate to see you get junk!
