    Great comprehensive review. You’ve lived with & used it long enough to really know this bike. Best type of review.

    The engine sounds were a little unsettling when I just bought mine but now I see yours sounds exactly same.

    Saving your video for reference for when I get mine. Great bike!

    I just did my first fork seals the other day, mines an 08, so 9 years on a set, I jump a lot. so not so bad!

    dont strap the bike to compress the fork, they sell a bracket that goes between the front fender and the wheel so your fork are not taking any load. buy one or make one, check it out!

    Pretty bike! Great performance mods, too!

    I'm thinking to go with 13/47 sprockets on my WR. What top speed should I expect?

    • @OldGuyMotoFreaking
      @OldGuyMotoFreaking  7 лет назад

      If you're not into top end speed you should try it, the torque is awesome. Top end speed wise, it took about 10-15mph off. But, I was mostly trail riding and didn't care about top end speed. Now I ride her mostly on street, and having the top end back is nice. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      I just bought a 2020:WR. I’m told you don’t really lose that much top speed because that drop keeps bike from bogging down it pulls it better in the real world. Plus it gives better performance in low gears for trails and when loaded with camping gear. My biggest problem so far is the seat height. I have 3 other bikes and this one is higher than KTM, Africa twin, klr. Great suspension but I have 29.5 inch inseam and it is just miserable.
      I have yamalink lowering link and my low seat is on back order.

      @@rodneyjohnston2217 wow, it has been a few years since my post. The 13/47 sprocket was perfect. I added a Speedo corrector to fix the speedometer. Good call on lowering the bike. I’m 5’10” and sold the bike because it was just too tall. I should have lowered it with a seat or link or both.

    great video. Thanks for listing the mods. I'm gonna pick up a few of those. Have you found protection for the engine casing on the right side? That black plastic needs replacing I think

      @OldGuyMotoFreaking  7 лет назад

      Kamotion haven't had an issue with the casing cover and I've crash her a lot. Let me know if you a good upgrade solution though!

    Do you have to remove the swingarm to change the chain? Thanks

    Hey buddy, how have those Shinkos held up, are they heavy and do you have any issues with lofting the front tire? Last, are you tuned? Awesome video, got some great ideas. Thanks for what you do.

    • @OldGuyMotoFreaking
      @OldGuyMotoFreaking  7 лет назад +1

      They've held up great, and super affordable. Great grip, and not any heavier feeling then the Dunlop 606. I'd recommend giving them a try. Thanking for watching and commenting!

    What are your thoughts about programming this bike. I have a powercore exhaust but otherwise no other engine modifications... Would you recommend a programmer?
    Did you notice much more snappyness or responsiveness?

    • @OldGuyMotoFreaking
      @OldGuyMotoFreaking  6 лет назад

      I used the FMF Power Programmer when I added the FMF Exhaust system, and it's great having the ability to experiment with the settings. There's lot's of threads out there for what settings different people are using. Performance wise the two most significant mods for power and responsiveness were the exhaust, and removing all the California emissions, and taping the air box open. Hope that helps.

    Enjoyed this , thank you, question? I'm 65, want to ride with my younger Nephew, my vstrom just to heavy for me off road, a novice really, do think this bike could help me do better? Thank you

    • @OldGuyMotoFreaking
      @OldGuyMotoFreaking  6 лет назад

      Depending on Dual Sporting vs Trails makes a big difference. For Dual Sporting dirt roads and light trails the WR250Rs ride tall, so depending if you're 5'10" or taller, and not to 230lbs or up it's a good affordable, versatile bike. Personally, I'd invest in a KTM 690 that would be more comfortable highways, and still quite good on dirt.

      Thanks for the comment. I'm in Dallas. Mostly ride/race in North Texas/TCCRA. But hope to do some out of state rides soon. Do yo fish? I noticed your name has "Angler". I'm a fly fishing fanatic.

      Yeah, I kayak fish quite a bit. I really want a dual sport and have been reading and watching reviews to figure out which one. Really torn between the WR250F and the CRF250L.

      Cool. I have a wilderness systems ride, and partly bought my wr250r to use as a shuttle for fishing the white river in Arkansas-something I people to do for many years. I do about 10 to 15 miles of water a day and catch more trout than one can imagine-one of my favorite places to fly fish. Check out my video on it. ruclips.net/video/RNEZsmzQEBw/видео.html

      Nice video. Good times. I took my Dad flyfishing up there about 20 years ago. We didn't know what the hell we were doing, but we had a good time and caugth a few.

      Ultimately, I was able to get the bike to approx. 265-270. Thanks for watching and commenting.
