  • In this exciting episode, the Regular Guy used Dollar Tree toothbrushes to make jig trailers and in so doing, he had to create the most gigantic mold he's ever made, MEGA MOLD to cast five lures at a time.

Not only do I get fantastic ideas at a cheap price from this awesome channels, but my vocabulary is gaining new words every episode like funsies, strongerer and oblivia to name a few and it’s always enjoyable and entertaining to watch. Mistakes happen but the sign of a truly great regular guy is fixing that mistake and producing mega mold 2.0. A really great effort from you and I know that dog will catch some fish (sorry regular editor, I couldn’t resist). Well done all, look forward to the catch video from this project.

I'm glad that my new vernacular is catching on. When these "dogs" do catch fish, I'll be certain to share them on the channel. I try and let the Regular Editor down easy. You Stay Regular!

A suggestion for reinforcing plaster molds: Fabric works well, but it must be 100% cotton or plant fiber such as burlap and not a polyester blend. The water repellent nature of poly’s, present a source of delamination instead of stengthening. In practice, I’ve found that cotton gauze works well. I pour enough plaster to cover the masters with a moderately thick plaster. Then saturating the gauze and begin layering the gauze in. Topping off with another mix of thicker plaster. Watch your water content, too much and you’ll have water floating on top. This will cause the plaster to cure very slowly and be more porous and weak, as well as causing mold defects such as bubbles. I always cure my plaster molds for a week before I even separate the halves. A lot of work goes into this, I guess the take away is: Hobbies are like everything else, three major things to consider. Time, cost, & quality. You can’t have all three. Pick the two that are most in line with your priorities. In my case that’s cost and quality. I’m retired, and time, I have, plenty of it. If you’re doing this to save time, think 🤔💭 again, it’s probably not going to happen. Above all, “Don’t rush.” -Tight lines

Thank you for that great suggestion with the cotton gauze. I’ll have to give that a try. In reference to time, quality and cost, I don’t have a lot of time, and I don’t have any throwing around money so I guess that table won’t stand. But, I usually get by with quick, dirty and cheap (as evidenced by the video content)! That being said, I truly appreciate you taking the time to reach out. I’d love to see what your mold looks like. If you would like to send me an email regularguylures@gmail.com. Thank you and You Stay Regular!

The best is your editor and how she trolls you.
    Speaks "friend of the economy"
Editor "That's not what that means"😅
