Elephant Pride is an ethical elephant project that was set up in 2018. It is situated next to the beautiful Mae Taeng River in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, and is home to a small herd of elephants now enjoying a more natural life since being retired from elephant riding and previously logging. The elephants love to make their way to the nearby river to cool off, drink, and play, as well as forage on the tall grasses that line its banks. The herd also regularly enters the forest to forage in peace on native plants, including the wild bamboo and grass that grows there.

Visitors to this project have the chance to gain a fascinating insight into the lives of elephants as part of a small group and directly contribute to the ongoing support of the elephants, improving their well-being and allowing them to live a more natural life.
Asian Elephant Projects is an organization dedicated to supporting small, independent elephant tourism operators in the transition to ethical and sustainable programs, which provide a more natural life for the elephants. Under the Saddle Off model, owners agree to follow a set of guidelines designed to ensure the welfare of the elephants under their care, and in turn, we provide the knowledge and resources to support these ethical elephant projects. We help the Saddle Off projects by providing them with tour guides, transportation, booking management, and marketing. We also provide veterinary care and elephant food deliveries. Asian Elephant Projects is run by the experienced team at Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park, founded by Saengduean Lek Chailert. For over two decades, Lek has been rescuing injured, neglected, and elderly elephants, while leading the movement towards the ethical treatment of elephants in Asia.
