You mean because of the danger of striking people crossing one of the mains to reach the other while boarding/deboarding? For that reason, operations are coordinated over the radio to avoid having a train enter the station while another train makes a station stop. Often, by talking to the dispatcher and/or other trains, a train can determine that there are no conflicts and can go full speed through the station. But if there's any doubt, a train will approach the station prepared to stop until they can visually verify that it's clear.
