During dinner my family often had the TV on to watch the evening news with Walter Cronkite. That night the lead story was that Marilyn Monroe had been found dead of an apparent suicide. After Cronkite made his announcement my Mother began to cry. No not a soft whimpering cry. No, it was a wailing, keening cry of abject sorrow. She stood up, slammed her napkin onto her plate and started to leave the room. All of us were dumbfounded. My Father said, “Audie, what is the matter?” She replied as she went into the bedroom, “those G-D Kennedy’s. She was my friend.” At 32:40 Gianni tells us Marilyn was in a foster home. That home belonged to my Grandparent’s where my Mother met and became friends with Marilyn Monroe, then Norma Jean. Gianni confirms what my Mother somehow knew. JFK and RFK had it coming. Karma’s a b**ch.

Don't know how long ago this interview was done, but I knew him when he was in vegas in the 80's. I was a auto mechanic at the time and did a brake job on his Bentley. At that time, he owned Burbon Street. In vegas lived in the condos off paradise. When I was done with the brake job, I went to his condo, and he's on the balcony, counting money from a duffle bag. He had a clipboard and was dividing up the 100.50.20.10.5. I've never seen that much cash at 1 time. He asked what the total was, and I said about 900. Without blinking, an eye hands me 1000. Extra 100 for delivery of the Bentley. BTW. he looked like he dos in this interview. Crazy how he hasn't aged.
I was born in the Bronx, - Italian and Irish neighborhood. Summer 1949 I was 4 1/2 years old. I still remember not being able to go to Orchard beach because of the polio epidemic. Even though we lived in a 2 family house, Summers were long and hot then without air-conditioning . I knew that children were paralyzed, but never knew that they were dying from polio. I suppose my parents didn't want to frighten me. I do remember walking thru Belview hospital polio ward with my mother and seeing a corridor of heads sticking out of 6 foot metal cans. It scared me. They were polio victims in iron lung machines. Many of my neighbors were in the construction business, and came from Sicily . There were children of certain families that my parents would not allow me to play with. Looking back as an adult, with adult wisdom, I suspect they were children of mob families. As an adult a part of me admires the mob, because they have strong family values, and protect their own They have a code of ethics that makes sense. Gianni Russo talks a lot. The NYC mob elite that I remember was silent. The real mob elite were silent and never gave interviews
Bulger is only the basis for the character who is named Frank Costello. Scorsese just gave the character a mobster's name from days gone by. Just to confuse things further, Costello is an Irish name, so when the Cosa Nostra boss Frank Costello changed his name from Francesco Castiglia to Frank Costello, he was adopting an Irish surname. Which is what stood out in dad's mind, besides his face/hair, why is this guy putting on gloves?
This guy is amazing and has more than 9 lives!
I wish these boys would keep their mouths shut & let Gianni tell his story.
They do not know how to just sit there and listen.
The manner in which they continuously interrupt him shows not only are they not paying attention, but also disrespect.
I would like to see someone else have Gianni on their channel and let him tell his story with no interruptions.
Mark Laita, whoes channel is Soft White Underbelly, would be excellent.
My personal opinion only.
May Peace be upon us all.
Cool interview ❤
He's the forest Gump of the mob and rat pack meetings
Great honesty! Bravissimo Meistro
You have to answer for Santino Carlo.
Lol Jack Ruby already been in Texas and had established businesses for decades before the JFK incident
This was a remarkable podcast. I wished you had asked him if the umbrella man opened his umbrella as a signal to shoot from the sewer drain.
This guy has a BIG MOUTH & I'm surprised he's still with us.
WHAT A COOL INTERVIEW WITH MARILYN MONROE! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Legend in his own mind
The Departed is supposed to be about Whitey Bulger Irish not Frank Costello Italian...
He’s confused because jack nicholson played frank costello 🤣
Bulger is only the basis for the character who is named Frank Costello. Scorsese just gave the character a mobster's name from days gone by. Just to confuse things further, Costello is an Irish name, so when the Cosa Nostra boss Frank Costello changed his name from Francesco Castiglia to Frank Costello, he was adopting an Irish surname. Fuhgeddaboudit
Yeah! Frank; Lou's cousin
How did these guys get the interview? They know nothing about Wiseguys
Or.... Hoover, the Kennedys, Monroe, etc
Russo accepts any and all interview requests.
You gotta give it to him. He’s a good fiction storyteller.
Did you two ever think of doing your homework prior on the major names that he was mentioning??
Lmfao
Apparently NOT
No disrespect to Russo, but the only person who thinks Russo is a major name is Russo himself.
Best story teller and wish for us to talk about it anytime !
he met a guy named Jonas Salk...gave him a recipe...the rest is history
His stories on Marilyn Monroe are confusing....😮
Maybe because he himself is confused.
Wow such great stories.. so awesome
Excellent interview. I love Russo . Old school gangster ❤
Gianni Russo quotes
“After I kissed Carlo Gambino with toungue I felt like it was because Monroe was jealous of my sex appeal,so I told Jack Ruby take care of that thing with that guy Mink” actual excerpt from his book “I’m totally insane and delusional” bye Gianni Russo the man who made Sonny Franzese
And how do you know it not to be true? Is his life to much for you?
😂
Excellent 😊
Come on. Now he's rehearsing lines with Pablo.
He is saying the truth about Hoover !
You know something, when Mr. Russo says any mobster that walks outside in robe to get the news paper and not get whacked is unreal. Just a middle age lady who did watch the Soprano's every time Tony went out to get the newspaper I would hold my breath thinking he would get shot.
Gianni was offered the Tony Soprano role !! - Gianni Russo
Not true! put the pipe down!
@@leemontoya8028 Gianni said it on his own podcast !
@@DarknessIsSpreading_01 send it to me!
@@DarknessIsSpreading_01 lolol
@@DarknessIsSpreading_01for real?? I know he said he slept with Monroe when he was like 15 or something ridiculous but to seriously play Toni Soprano??? Was he going to be 67+ when Aj was born lol wtf
This is like a grandfather entertaining two year old grandchildren. They really have no clue.
Anthony fauci needs to take a lesson that's all I'm saying😢
Sirhan Sirhan did not kill RFK.
Scattered interview. Two tips: Stay on subject unless the Interviewee changes it and never interrupt. We could have gotten some great stories here.
So interesting to hear
Gianni sounds like every single Millennial I have ever met.
how old are you?
"Costello gave me a million dollars. Can you believe it?"
Amazing story teller. I believe him.
