I agree, Dr. Grande, the case seems solvable. Perhaps your coverage will inspire a cold case team to look into it and get answers for her family. Nice job. 👍
They got lucky. The guy slipped up and got arrested last month, didn't show up for court, got his DNA taken, and finally found a match. Just hope he mans up, confesses and pleads guilty so Faith's family don't have to hear all the details. But knowing how this usually goes he'll probably claim consent and then somehow start blaming Faith for starting something & making him angry.
When we were young adults, 18-20 yo, my sister and I shared an apartment with a high school friend. She worked nights at a local movie theatre. Nice girl, but she had the habit of forgetting to lock the door. One night, again she forgot to lock the door after she came home from work. That morning, we found that an intruder had stolen items in the apartment as well as the rent money my sister had in her purse which she had left in the living room. We feel that that money saved our lives. The intruder was satisfied with his spoils 💰 and left us alone. I suspect the intruder was the neighbor who was a small drug pusher, a man in his early 30s.
Of course it would still be scary but most people who do these types of crimes don't actually want to hurt anyone. I speak from experience. I have a troubled past to put it simply. Obviously you still wouldn't want strangers in your home in the middle of the night.
This is the kind of thing you might do if you suspect that someone might sneak into your place while you're out. One little bump, and it's obvious that someone has been in there messing around.
@Us Us please go on, were you obsessing about the table or the plant, how did it make you feel, do you see yourself as the plant, living on the edge, or do you see yourself as the table, responsible for the plant and worried it may fall? Tell me, how is your relationship with your mother......🥸
The man named Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares was arrested a while ago in connection to this case. Unfortunately, the case is at standstill with no trial date or plea date set.
I watched a documentary about this case once. Faith's father was truly devastated, it was very sad. The documentary made a strong case against the female roommate and other friends/aquaintances who were with her that night. Hopefully victim and family will receive justice someday
Have you listened to Stephanie harlowe’s podcast? Her co-host (retired police detective & PI) knows her father & is contact with him, it’s such a devastating case.
hopefully this will help others learn not to sleep around with as many untrustworthy people as possible I mean I can see why that is a bad idea right off the bat
Something you can tell the grand kids? So cringe. What a terrible attempt to be funny. Sounds like something Lilly Singh would say as a joke, then you'd hear crickets. It annoys me so much when most of you just repeat a catch phrase or some kind of catchy quote that holds no real meaning, though, if you really pay attention.
My first thought was that someone followed them from the club, hung out outside for a bit, saw Rosario left, then took their chance. That would explain no phone contact.
That makes a lot of sense to me. Or just someone from around that she never noticed noticing her. She was a beautiful girl so I'm sure she got a ton of attention.
@Dirty Magic11 I thought about the friend too! Here’s what I was thinking . . . So there can be some really creepy people at clubs. I am the friend in the group that has no problem being rude so I tend to kind of protect my friends but at least one person had a creeper every single time I’ve been to a club with girl friends. It’s usually a combination of a super nice girl and a guy who can’t take a hint (which is where I come in 😂). He typically thinks she’s flirting with him when she’s just being nice and isn’t assertive enough to tell him to eff off. It’s not uncommon at all for that type of guy to follow her around for a while even after she said she isn’t interested or face a fake number or something because he gets so fixated on when she was being nice that he can’t get it through his head that she’s not interested (BTW there are definitely delusional women too but I’m a girl so this is just my experience!). I was imagining she had one of those experiences, then they made up the stomach ache excuse to try and leave, he gets super pushy and thinks that they are going to hang out after and she struggles with confrontation, starts awkwardly giggling and can’t directly say no (again, very typical dynamic!), so he follows them. I think the dude genuinely thought in his mind that she was interested but was “shy” or “inexperienced” so she needed a strong man to take the lead. I know it may sound crazy but I’ve run into guys that really are this delusional! My point is that he probably didn’t even think he was preying on her when he followed her, he probably just thought they were hanging out. She probably even gave him a fake number! I think you are right about the friend though! My guess is that the friend let him in, not thinking it was a big deal; they all hung out for a minute, the friend left, he’s still not taking no for an answer until he finally realizes he’s raping her . . . Then he’s like “oh, shit” . . . Then he kills her and runs off. The friend comes home, realizes what happened, feels extremely guilty, then partially lies. . . For some reason the scene seems very clear in my mind . . . Haha
Or maybe someone at the restaurant they probably stopped at on the way home? Maybe that would also explain the note? They might have triggered some crazy guy?
You're my favorite doctor-wish you really were in my life! Love the way you talk, your professional insight, intelligence and especially your cool sense of humor! I always look forward to your videos and get excited when I get new notifications!
I went to the school where this happened. It was graduation year for me. I've been on Rosemary street. Ive eaten at Time Out. Ive been around the thrill... it was a big deal- many of my friends went to memorial services for her. Campus security ramped up after this...... such a sad story.
So sad, this story always stuck with me cus of the voicemail and how weird the people acted after like her roommates bf Eric posting about it on social media. What did people in the area think when this happened?
This was so strange for me to listen to. Everything is so relatable. I went to UNC in the late 80's, and everything sounds exactly the same, except the bars on Rosemary St have different names. I remember standing in line at Time Out at 2 am many a time, getting a chicken and cheese biscuit on the way home. Poor Faith. This is such a sad story.
Update: A recent DNA match was confirmed in this case. The person was randomly stopped for a DUI and dna was taken and matched to this case. It is a male that apparently did not know her at all and was at her apartment complex the night her and roommate came home from the club.
"Upset stomach" is a common term for a stomach ache, used by older generations. I am so familar with the phrase that I didn't realize it sounds strange to other people. Thinking about it with new ears, it IS kind of weird! It assigns feelings to an object with no ability to emote.
The police reports state that a tampon was found next to her body at the murder scene, so I feel it was a way of saying she had monthly cramps. That supports the theory that any sex that occurred was most likely rape. So very sad. If the man who was recently charged, Miguel Enrique Oliveras, is guilty, I believe he was acting entirely at the direction of Eriq Takoy Jones.
15:30 - The Delphi case is one of those in my opinion. It has video, audio recording, you can hear his voice, and they got DNA.... Yet years later, and still LE is at a loss for catching the culprit. 😥 I pray so hard they'd solve that one.
Same. It absolutely horrifies me that monsters like that are walking among us. The thought you could know one is not one I like to entertain. Someone knows this person...hard to imagine you could be working, eating, sleeping next to someone like that.
I really wonder what’s going on with that investigation because they put out two different sketches and one was an older guy and one was super young. Based off the video that was NOT a young guy. Then they refuse to release more video or audio when they should have done that to begin with so someone could identify the killer. So it’s like what are they waiting for at this point? Someone speculated that they wonder if it’s someone in law enforcement.
@@DottieMinerva Totally agree the Delphi case is getting hardcore sus with the way they're going about all this. That one guy esp needs to drop his ego and get outta the way...out of his own way for sure. Plus he low-key gives me the creeps. Just saying it
How? I don't see how the roommate is a suspect. As Dr.Grande explained, she would want to touch Faith's body if she was the killer, and there really wasn't a motive to explain why she would do it. It's also highly unlikely that she would be able to cover her tracks if she was the killer.
OMG I look up this case from time to time to find out if they’ve made an arrest. So unfortunate what happened to Faith and her friend (s) are suspect af. SMH..
I am 99% sure her roommate, Eric, and some other male killed her. If you haven’t heard the voicemail you should find it on RUclips. It is a butt dial that went to a friends of Faith’s voicemail and many believe it captures audio of the murder. Some expert examined it and wrote out a transcript. The name Rosie was mentioned numerous times along with 2 male voices. It is controversial because the timestamp put Faith at the club. But there is also a known glitch on her phone that could account for the wrong timestamp. The person who examined it noted there was no music like you would expect at a club. Her father even believes he can hear Faith’s voice cringing for help. Absolutely heart breaking.
@@hp2474 if you actually listen to the "enhanced" audio, it just sounds like complete gibberish. And as you said, it is at the wrong time; a theoretical glitch doesn't mean you just get to assume it was recorded during the murder.
@@pinecone1113 I see where you are coming from. It does sound like gibberish, although a few times I hear a high pitched “Oww” that to me sounds like a scared and desperate call for help. Did you get to listen to the expert that made the transcript from the recording? I don’t know how sound the science of transcribing a pocket dial is, but the guy who analyzed it has been deemed credible in a lot of criminal cases. I probably misspoke, but it wasn’t a theoretical glitch, it was a known glitch with some software version on her phone. And as the analyst points out, you don’t hear any music or musical instruments like you would expect in a club. And the voicemail is several minutes long so I don’t think it could be a break between songs.
Hi Dr Grande! Could you analyse the case of former Dr. Nassar and the USA Gymnastics organization? There's a Netflix documentary about it and I would like to see your opinion on what happened. Thanks!!
So friends can't leave friends alone in their own apartment? And I know many people who leave doors unlocked, accident or not. This was just an unfortunate situation, no need to blame the friend.
@@jessykaros I blame the friend for not locking the door. I live in a nice area and always lock the door and my roommate knows she better do it too, no excuses.
That friend told police that they left the club early bc she felt sick. Less than an hour later, she leaves with some guys, & says she didn’t lock the door bc there was only one key, Faith had it, & she didn’t want to wake her up.
Just a thought. Sometimes "my stomache is upset" can be used to cover for menstral relateted issues that one doesn´t want the broadcast to the the whole club but still have to take care of, whether by getting supplies one has forgotten or by taking a painkiller. once that is taken care of, there´s no reason to stay home. Also, dependingon how much she drank can explain why the door was left unlocked. I have relatives who really lose most of the logic God gave and eggplant with suprisingly little alcohol in their system, and they are grown men. Relatively young women often have an even greater problem dealing with intoxication.
There's no way that recording of the victim begging for help and someone saying she's dying isn't a recording of her death. The assailants refer to each other as Rosie and Eric ffs. That roommate was jealous and angry and orchestrated this girls torture and murder imo.
It's a really sad story. I also need to mention. Saying "my stomach is upset' and not that she's hungry. If I ignore that I'm hungry and don't eat. I get an upset stomach because of the blood sugar crash and know that I need to eat immediately even though my stomach is upset. That's probably why she said that. They stopped and ate and by the time they got back to their apt she was feeling better.
Same thing happens to me. It's also possible she drank on an empty stomach which having some food often settles. As for the note, I could imagine me and one of my friends when we were young and drunk, writing silly shit on a paper bag.
if your a chick, out clubbing and probably pre-gaiming at home then going to dance drunk cause your underage, an upset stomach is either going to mean she had to shit or she got her period that day or it had started recently- source- been out drinking in a college town thousands of times and usually if a chick i meet at a bar has an upset stomach it means shes gotta take a dump. and has to walk home to do it cause she is NOT going to shit in a clubs bathroom unless its an EMERGENCY
Yes, Dr.Grande, there can be too much data in a case. Too much data can cloud an investigation. In this case, the environment surrounding the persons involved caused the many, many, rabbit holes. I know this because I worked this case pro-bono for the family (very sweet people). There has been an arrest in the case and that suspect is one we and law enforcement identified among many. I firmly expect more arrests shortly. Trust me, everyone involved (LE and Private) have worked very hard on the case. When you work a crime in an environment where you have a transient society (college town) every day puts you further and further behind. You are not too far off and then again.
I've got my eyes peeled for Chris Farley! 👀 Dr. Grande mentioned a day or two ago he was researching him! 👍 Maybe I'll watch the video outside, because "I'm livin' in a van down by the river!" 🚚 🏞 🤷♂️
Yes definitely female psychopath that could stand up to police pressure but had an very odd way of describing the murder and staged murder scene. Could have planted the Rum bottle to deflect attention from herself. Lot of booze and empty bottles lying around on a party night. The owner of the Rum bottle would in that case not come forward as it would cast suspicion on them especially if they lived close by. None of the neighbors who were at home during the night noticed anything because Faith was suffocated or choked out before the murder.
Social media has been very bad to the acquaintances of faith. I know that they are very happy that closure has been obtained. Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares from Durham, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, Assistant Chief of Police Celisa Lehew, who has led the investigation for six years, announced at a news conference.
Yes, the answer was only a DNA test away. Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares from Durham, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
That 911 call was not normal in my opinion. Fake crying, kept saying someone came in, how Faith looked "unconscious" but also says there's blood everywhere.. The roommate's role is just not consistent. And she left the door unlocked after her crazy ex had just broken in prior.
In case no one noticed the screen look on the left, there is *evidence* of paint splash 🧢🧢👟 that the Dr. Is *Open to Experience* and I’m thankful for the insight I’m gaining on the multitude of issues that need to be given answers to. 🧢🧢👟. Thankyou for good insights, Dr. Grande. ☘️🍀☘️🍷🍀☘️🍀
This is what I've always leaned towards... The note on the take out bag was from a female. No doubt about that. The alcohol bottle was used to beat her to de*th. I know they recovered sem*n, but this is what I'm thinking.... I think the sem*n was from a different hookup. I dont believe it has anything to do with her murd*r. I think her roommate, who she had issues with, had serious problems with the roommates ex-bf, and whose also been shady af since the murd*r. I think Faith hooked up with a guy at some point that day, that evening, but then her and the roommate went partying. Roommate gets sick, needs to go home, but then mysteriously recovers so she goes back out again?? 🤨 No. Its more like her and Faith got into it at the club. The recorded butt dialed voice-mail kinda confirms this. Its hard to make out what all is said, but it sounds like it could be a fight or argument to me. So after they get into it, probably drawing attention, causing a scene, etc. they decide to go home. They arrive home. They continue fighting. Rosie ends up smashing her across the head with the bottle, and doesn't stop in her inebriated rage. When shes done she may not have even realized she had kil*ed her. I think she left that note thinking that when Faiths hit to the head wore off and she woke up - she'd see the note. After hastily writing the note she flees the apartment. She hangs with another friend, wasting time, waiting on Faith to contact her which never happens. I think curiosity finally got to her and she decides to return home where she finds Faith and realizes what she had done. I believe the friend that went home with her stayed outside so it's possible Rosie could've done some last minute staging before police arrived. Like pulling the shirt over her head to make it seem like a SA. But also ppl tend to cover the faces of victims they are close with. I think the guy Faith slept with hasnt came forward because hes terrified of being labeled guilty because of the sem*n and hes afraid of going down for something he didn't do. I wish hed come forward. But i think he fears being railroaded which....happens a lot. But i definitely think the kil*er is a female, not a male. I think the sem*n was from se* earlier and has nothing to do with the murd*r. I think the roommate is involved. Maybe even the roommates ex to. Those are just my own personal thoughts and opinions.
Not to ignore the fact that someone died, but this is a good reminder for all of us to be careful about security. I was always good about locking my car doors until one day some maniac in a ski-mask threw the unlocked door open and car jacked me at gunpoint. I don’t even know if he would have let me live if we hadn’t been making noise. (It was the middle of the night, I had a courier job.) Just like this case, the cops couldn’t track my car down, despite having trackable devices on board. When it was found abandoned in a parking lot, it was covered in dna, hair, and fingerprints. They still had no luck finding the robber, and I’m just glad to have been alright. The point is not to take ANY chances of forgetting to lock things for a second or of being completely alone.
I can't believe the detail in this analysis. Dr. Grande you are our modern day Columbo. There are so many possible scenarios. I hope the killer gets caught. Great job Dr. G. You were worth the wait. 🪴🪴🪴🪴🐰
Dear Dr G. dark blue suits you and pleased to see your plants are healthy and happy. Again another brilliant analysis. Many thanks for your devotion to to your youtube submissions, very appreciated.
Wow...what a great roommate and all-around terrific human being Rosario was. Leaves the apt unlocked and then doesn't want to even touch Faith when she finds her all bloody.
I was an undergrad at UNC when this happened. I 100% believe Rosario was part of the murder. Her leaving the door unlocked had to be intentional. She had been the victim of domestic violence, locking your door is not something she would just forget. Listen to interviews of Marisol Rangel, a friend who was with Rosario when they found the body. Then listen to the 911 call. I think Marisol called 911. A neighbor said Marisol was crying and Karina Rosario was texting on her phone that morning

Thanks so much as always, Dr Grande, for your thorough, impartial analysis and sensitive treatment of the victim. My heart goes out to this poor young woman and her family, I hope your parting thoughts come to pass.
Its hard to believe they were at the nightclub when the recording was made eg no real background noise of music. You can hear one person rapping to a known tune but putting his own words. The person is thought to be Erik, who was a rapper. It was know by an expert that certain phones displayed the wrong timelines that particular year.
police confirmed the call with multiple sources and they would have looked at faith's phone to see when she called (outgoing calls)... in addition to the roommate... it's always troublesome when media gets involved and try to make their on case of things...
I just watched an update on YT channel "Truly Criminal," and an arrest has been made; the suspect was picked up on a warrant for failure to appear for a traffic violation. Creep is being held without bail 🙌🏾. Peace to Faith's loved ones.
Great analysis Dr Grande. Sad story hopefully there will be justice soon. Could you analyze James Charles: Taking accountability video. Nice profile picture!!
What an incredibly sad case! I just love how you lay out the possoble explanations, Dr. Grande, and I hope one of them leads to her case being solved! ♡♡
The case is fascinating and your portrait of it as well. I don't have any extra arguments, that our doctor hasn't already mentioned, also do I agree, in that theorie no. 1 appears to be the most plausible interpretation. So today I simply say thank you for the excellent video and wish everyone a good night.🌛🌝
I recall that before the man who killed her was located. All the comments stated the roommate killed her or was involved. They were convinced that her refusal to touch Faith and tone of her voice on the phone were glaring proof! People are real quick to find fault with the roommate and read bogas signs that are not even present. I personally didn't believe the roommate was involved in any way. At her age. I probably would not want to touch my friend either. Add to that the shock of finding her. Poor girl had to live with that cloud of suspicion . People need to quit being so damn judgemental and use some common sense.
Dr. G..... "Rosario was only 20 years old and it is doubtful she had a lot of homicidal experience so she could stage this kind of scene and defeat the police and the FBI." Food for thought for me because of that comment.... Where do murderers get their first homicidal experience at the beginning? The first murder, with no homicidal experience, is still a murder....Something to think about for sure.
@NightNight I've followed Dr. Grande for years. He adds some sarcasm and dry wit to many of his videos for a bit of levity but he generally has a very good grasp of human nature in the end.
In my experience eating something starchy and fatty such as a cheap pizza can sometimes quell an upset stomach. I think it absorbs anything acidic that is causing discomfort. So it's possible Rosario was telling the truth about this part of the story. Update: A 28-year-old man was arrested Thursday for the murder of University of North Carolina student Faith Hedgepeth, who was beaten to death in an off-campus apartment in 2012. Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares was slapped with a first-degree murder charge after his DNA was matched to the crime scene, authorities said at a news conference.
Well the only thing we know for sure is there's a murderer walking free, I hope they will be caught and face justice bc if they're not the victim will continue to be victimised.
Wow! How right you were; this case was just one DNA test away from being solved, as the man who they’ve arrested for this crime was initially arrested for a DUI. It hasn’t gone to trial yet and the police haven’t released much information but I’m just so glad Faith’s family can have a chance at justice.
I think you should do an update of this. Especially since they may have found the guy who did it. Plus, it seems like the guy they did catch may have some sort of connection with her roommate, Rosario. After all, some say Rosario could’ve been jealous of faith herself and the main reason why there was suspicion at first with Rosario (“Rosie”) being involved in some way is because of the fact that not just one, but two guys threatening to kill faith for trying to protect Rosario from staying in a physically abusive relationship. Those guys had been cleared by DNA, but it doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of her knowing someone else willing to commit the misdeed.
I’ve heard other sources say that the voicemail had two men, a woman, and also faith and you could hear the two men and the other woman saying offensive things and faith responding. Could have been the precursor to them all contributing to her murder
12:55 this makes no sense to me, because there was another case of the man who killed two of his wives of 12 and 13 years for the insurance payout- his first wife suffered a “car accident” where the car fell on top of her while they were changing the car tire and rather than perform CPR on his wife, or cover her with a jacket to keep her warm- he refused to touch her at all. Saying that a murderer might have the perfect excuse to touch the body in order to contaminate the scene if they were guilty would be neglecting the other point of “they don’t want to render aid to make sure they’d die” counter argument for why a murder *wouldn’t* touch their victim.

I just read an article that LE officially made an arrest, and then RUclips recommended this video. It sounds like you might’ve been spot on, doc.
I watched a documentary about this case once. Faith's father was truly devastated, it was very sad. The documentary made a strong case against the female roommate and other friends/aquaintances who were with her that night. Hopefully victim and family will receive justice someday

Oh my goodness! Ty for the update.
Local news in NC announced an arrest! The story is evolving !
Lol I just searched for a Dr. Grande video and this popped up. Right on time
"Upset stomach" is a common term for a stomach ache, used by older generations.
I pray so hard they'd solve that one.
@@DottieMinerva
Agree. The video clearly shows a guy at least over 40 . His gait and voice also suggest older
@@DottieMinerva Totally agree the Delphi case is getting hardcore sus with the way they're going about all this. That one guy esp needs to drop his ego and get outta the way...out of his own way for sure. Plus he low-key gives me the creeps. Just saying it
This case is one that seems solvable. The sketchy roommate and her bf are suspicious AF.
They finally found the killer 4 days ago
SMH..
Why are their friends out lose..
This is one of the cold cases that sticks with me also.
I think the most suspicious part of the friends behavior is that she went BACK OUT AT 4:25 AM. Who does that lol

Glad people are still talking about this case. Poor girl.
I have always needed CLOSURE for this case. I am sincerely sad no one have solved it.
by that logic you also need closure for the cases where people decided to engage in criminal acts then surprisingly became victims of criminal acts
Good point.
Same. I get terrible hunger pains so need to eat when they strike.
Then again we don't know

They've arrested a guy very recently. They think they know who did it. Just FYI. Apparently pretty much fit the description too.

Seen several versions of this story basically go in hard blaming the friends, the note is important to them. What an excellent video.
I like videos before I watch them, your voice is hypnotising Dr Grande! Watching from Newcastle, Australia 🇦🇺
No.
Those are just my own personal thoughts and opinions.
good work holmes
Not to ignore the fact that someone died, but this is a good reminder for all of us to be careful about security. I was always good about locking my car doors until one day some maniac in a ski-mask threw the unlocked door open and car jacked me at gunpoint. I don’t even know if he would have let me live if we hadn’t been making noise. (It was the middle of the night, I had a courier job.)
Just like this case, the cops couldn’t track my car down, despite having trackable devices on board. When it was found abandoned in a parking lot, it was covered in dna, hair, and fingerprints. They still had no luck finding the robber, and I’m just glad to have been alright. The point is not to take ANY chances of forgetting to lock things for a second or of being completely alone.

I was an undergrad at UNC when this happened. I 100% believe Rosario was part of the murder. Her leaving the door unlocked had to be intentional. She had been the victim of domestic violence, locking your door is not something she would just forget.

Case will be thrown out because the woman was faking injury and plotting with a cult... 😲
You should do a video about Amy from that one Kitchen Nightmares episodes. Lol

Definitely suspicious , why would anyone leave the door unlocked in the middle of the night, there was a suspicious text sent to Brandon as well which asked him to come over to the house, her friend knows more than she is telling.
ah the dangers of being a promiscuous and manipulative person
be careful who you choose to manipulate, its like the songs say
love (emotions) conquer all
Conspiracies are pretty difficult to cover.
@@earlmcearl1244 What are you talking about? You sound unbelievably cold and victim blaming. Nothing in this video says this girl was manipulative or promiscuous, quit making things up.
What are the chances that the perp found the door unlocked and Faith alone. Was she the target or Rosario?
Love the new video layout! :)
Good morning Dr Grande. What a nightmare this case has become. With the door unlocked, it could have been anyone. Unless the perpetrator DNA is in the system, it maybe impossible to get a match. Love the analysis, great topic . Thank you Dr Grande, have an enlightening day.
Never heard of this case. If roommate knew she had stalkers why keep door unlocked & leave her alone? Sketchy & selfish. I think it was her or she knows who did it/set it up 😮 Thanks again Dr G😊💌💚
Looking good as usual Dr Grande. Happy Easter 🌷🇬🇧
Sad, what a beautiful young lady.😢
"future forgiveness" sort of fits the preemptive and presumptive world we live in today ... The common phrase "upset stomach" has multiple meanings, including the less common "hunger pangs" or abdominal pain from the lack of food
My theory is someone hit her with the bottle, perhaps trying to knock her out. assuming it would shatter like they do in movies. But it didn't and they killed her by accident,
Thank you so much, Dr. Grande!
