Where is the editor? The 1963 Marauder faced competition from lighter cars like the GTO? Completely ignored NASCAR racing? This is the problem with history being rewritten by computers and dimwits....
Why are you criticizing these base model cars for not being muscle cars? They weren’t intended to be. If you wanted a muscle car version, buy the muscle car version!
It’s either a computer generated voice or whoever’s narrating knows absolutely nothing about cars. I am 62 years old and never in my life has anyone ever said “Z slash 28” in my presence.
Yes, but it was rear wheel drive, right. Beautiful car, fast and comfortable with all the bells and whistles. GM ruled this segment, as well as others. I think GM stylists were far advanced compared to the others and the quality was far better than the rest IMO.
This is the most ignorant report on these incredible cars that I have ever watched. My grandfather bought a white 1966 toronado and it was by far the most powerful great car to drive unbelievable strength controllability it is at still my favorite car from the 60s. At least one half of these cars that you're reporting on are collector items that people wish they could have including the Mercury Marauder. The Studebaker that you showed - they had a special order engine you can put in those that's still beats cars that are muscle cars from the 60s. You really don't know what you're talking about
The Toronado was my favorite car of the sixties with the possible exception of some Shelby and GT Mustangs. But overall, I’d probably go with the Toronado. It was like your own personal jet. So fast and so comfortable as well as being the most beautiful car from the sixties IMO. Traveling across the Southwest deserts at 110-120 mph was easy and quiet. In those days in the lonely stretches people drove like that. That was the perfect car for that. Not that I advocate excessive speed.
I cut your video off right at the beginning with your assessment of the '63 Mercury. I haven't heard that much wrong bullsh't in my life. You know absolutely NOTHING about American cars.
Even the original mustang came with small motors and continued to do so. People wanted daily drivers mostly, not muscle cars.Take the kids to school,go for groceries, drive to work daily. Most of these cars are collector worthy today and as the cars pictured are highly customizable. Car manufacturers always have base models.Darts, mustangs, Chevelles, etc. If they didn't, people would not be able to restore so many "muscle cars" today. Many grocery getters and mid class cruisers were manufactured and sold to the masses. Few could afford a top end car for daily life. The mustang excelled in this class for example as it was affordable for the small block for example. And the straight 6 was a reliable, affordable motor.
@@pathorn4671 what did they have in it... something like the 283 right? Configured by somebody who knew how, those Mustangs were light enough that those ponies were really all you needed to have some fun. Not 427 fun, but with the convertible as a bonus, fun enough..
Who ever wants a base model car of anything. You’re too wordy saying the same thing over and over. And finally, you were discussing the 1961 Imperial ( the Frankenstein year) not the 1962!
Haha... the Studebaker looks like it came straight outta communist Russia when painted flat grey . The Continental was just plain cool and the Toranado, no way no how should be on this list! Most of them shouldn't be on this list. The reason/ reasons why some of them are is just plain pettiness. I wonder who signed off on this one...
The 1963 Dodge Dart was a COMPACT car and the Phoenix was discontinued in 1962. The cars you showed were all 1962 models except the Dart which was a 1976!!!!
I dont undetstand why you are comparing these base models of these autos. Its like a Biscayne is the plane jane of the Impalas. Some people had reasons or just preferred the base models. Some people liked the styling of a car but could not afford the highest end of that vehicle so they would get a base model. We bought a Chevrolet Camaro in 1970 for my sisters 16th birthday. It looked good but it only had I think the weakest engine and the most basic styling of the Camaro. But it was still a looker and my dad didnt want my sister driving a dangerous car which in his eyes were the most powerful muscle but he wanted my sister to have a good looking car. So, he got her a csmaro but it wasnt the fastest by any means.
Wanker ! If you raced NASCAR on Sunday you had to sell it on Monday. Good grief. Also, learn a bit about brand loyalty. A man who drove Mercury's wouldn't touch a Pontiac.
True story. My dad worked for Pontiac Motors back in the day and if you drove a non-GM vehicle, you could not park in the company parking lots. You had to park on the streets.
For the current yearly sales of these vehicles compared to their competition, they failed against ford, chevy ,etc popular models but are all highly sought after today. At least this isn't all about ugly cars like the gremlin, pacer, pinto, maverick etc. Although i know many that love these aswell
toronados were great cars not made to be muscle cars ! they were road cars with comfort in mind ! who worried about gas gusslers back then ! the tecknology for gas millage was not there !these cars out lasted a lot of the shit they make now
Precisely. Toronados were personal luxury cars and they were an engineering you’re d’ force in their time. Whoever compiled and wrote this had no perspective on the era.
This guy is hard to listen to, he knows. Nothing about the sixties , most of the cars he talked about I would of liked then and still like today, Most of the guys that cemented be. For me got it right.
This video is total bs! Not everyone was trying to reinvent the Corvette or the Mustang. This narration was repeating itself over and over and ovef and over. I spent time in several of these cars. I agree the 61 Lincoln was poorly executed, andbprone to electrical failures. The Caddy was far better. You criticized the Toronado heavily. That was probably the greatest car of the sixties if you wanted a cruiser that was powerful and comfortable. I used to travel in it as a passenger in the sixties. I lived in El Paso. We would go for ski trips in other states and it was like a personal jet. You could fly across the desert at well over 100mph and it was supremely comfortable. The front wheel drive gave good traction in the snow when other cars had to put on chains. With chains it was unstoppable and you cojld actually steer it unlike many rwd cars of the time. The Torino you hated wasn’t as cool as a Mustang, Cougar, , or Camero/Firebird, but it was still a cool car, and some were quite fast. I preferred the GM mid-sized cars when well-equipped. Pontiac and Olds were my usual faves but Chevy was probably the best bang for your buck, and usually reliable. Buicks tended to be fast luxo boats. The. Wildcat was awesome. The GSX was their 12 second grocery getter when you ordered it right. Although my favorite cars of the sixties were usually GM’s, the Mustang was a great car and some were quite fast. Everyone remembers the Charger and Challenger as well as the ‘Cuda with the 426 Hemi or the 440. The Hemi’s were very hard to beat. I loved the cars of the sixties, and that was the greatest decade for American cars. I have driven German cars for the last few decades, and they are great, but I don’t love them like I did the sixties American cars.
The tornado was one of the coolest cars ever
So what was the 1960s cougar ? It was a sports car
It was a pony car,a cousin of the mustang. And the Oldsmobile was a Toronado. Not tornado/tornado is a storm.
I liked the way it looked. It had a lot of power. It was built like a tank. That big gas pedal was neat.
Absolutely, one of thd best ever! It was my favorite luxury car of the sixties. Jay Leno has one. He loved them, too.
Had 68, favorite car ever had ,it drove beautiful

Eleven cars and FIFTY FIVE MINUTES to give us your spiel ?
Come on !
OK, now let’s do a Top 10 list of the worst narration on the Internet! “Z slash 28”. ROFL 🤣
People loved all of the original Cougars even with the base engine 302s. Cougars were definitely cool!!!
I love the Ford Torino! It was very sexy good looking and the performance was awesome. I dontcare what anyone says i say the Torino was a Winner!!!
This guy is nuts. Hasn't a clue.
It’s either a computer generated voice or whoever’s narrating knows absolutely nothing about cars. I am 62 years old and never in my life has anyone ever said “Z slash 28” in my presence.
click !
He's reading it from a script
There is no guy. This is Ai BS.
To many words boring
In the late 1970s I owned a 69 Riviera GS. Almost the same car as a toronado. Is marketed as a personal luxury car not a sports car
It had the style of a sports car but had luxury too. Without the tin can problem.
Yes, but it was rear wheel drive, right. Beautiful car, fast and comfortable with all the bells and whistles. GM ruled this segment, as well as others. I think GM stylists were far advanced compared to the others and the quality was far better than the rest IMO.

It is Ai. Obviously, it makes no sense.

How many different model years did you expect to display before arriving at the correct model for the 1962 Imperial?
Even the original mustang came with small motors and continued to do so.

The tornado was NEVER intended to be a sport car

In the 1960s except for the compacts no car was fuel efficient
Haha... the Studebaker looks like it came straight outta communist Russia when painted flat grey .
This was the worst report I’ve ever seen. No real accuracy concerning the era.
I dont undetstand why you are comparing these base models of these autos. Its like a Biscayne is the plane jane of the Impalas. Some people had reasons or just preferred the base models. The biscayne had the style of the caprice. All I cared about.
Wanker ! If you raced NASCAR on Sunday you had to sell it on Monday. Good grief. Also, learn a bit about brand loyalty. A man who drove Mercury's wouldn't touch a Pontiac.

That silly paint job on that Maurader has got to go.
Looks incredible to me.
Pure artwork.
That is a highly appreciated car
Horrible
I had a 64 malibu 4door with a 235 6 cylinder + a 2sp auto powerglide. It was fun ! I paid $35 & changed ball joints on maverick for it.
THE 1963 MERCURY MARAUDER WON SOME NASCAR RACES WITH PARNELLI JONES AT THE WHEEL!
The marauder was a fierce competitor! No doubt.
The retractable hard tops worked just fine on level ground.
You spent too much time on the Mercury Marauder.
I feel as though they spent more time in this video than the car spent on the market.
You should be ashamed!!!!! Putting the 1966 Toronado in this group. I will not subscribe nor watch anymore. LOOK at the comments I am not alone
Yeah!!!
Once someone starts criticizing Oldsmobiles I get really ticked off!!!!!!
The Oldsmobile toronado was not the ugliest and definitely not the silliest
Thoroughly agree!!!
Give’’em hell!!!
This video was designed to get hits. With little substance.
The paint job on the marauder is not silly. Is 1960s cool
Buick LA sayber, not La sahber. You make it sound like La Slobber.
Base Cougars weren’t muscle cars. They were meant to capture the Italian GT spirit in a lower price range.
For the current yearly sales of these vehicles compared to their competition, they failed against ford, chevy ,etc popular models but are all highly sought after today.
At least this isn't all about ugly cars like the gremlin, pacer, pinto, maverick etc.

Lasabber or LaSabre?? I hate this AI narrated crap!!!

I hope this website becomes a "Legend" because it sucks.
I hope the report fades into oblivion
Wrong on everything. Just watching the video you found people that loved those cars.
NOT A FASTBACK!!! THE ROOFLINE ISNT LONG ENUFF AT REAR AND PITCH IS TOO LITTLE SHOULD BE LONG ... SMOOTH LINE NOT A SHORT PITCH LINE
This guy is hard to listen to, he knows. Nothing about the sixties , most of the cars he talked about I would of liked then and still like today,
Most of the guys that cemented be. For me got it right.
Why are you showing different car models while talking about them
I had a 69 cuda with a 318 that lay rubber when asked.
good 🤙🤙
In condition as shown... all worth a ton of cash today ...... if ya' can find ''em.....
Poorly done; too much repetition w/in each vehicle reviewed. Cars shown not the same as announcer is talking about. @45:35 as an example. -C
the barracuda is the ugliest car of the 60's
LaSobber. lmao !
😅😂😅
