I appreciate that this actually happened. Dotta went about it all wrong, he didn't need to bring race into it and we all know Ren has mad skills, but it was mad smart of him to challenge Ren even though it's way above his skill level. I appreciate it because Ren has a huge and varied fanbase, and so many of us aren't familiar with the rap community. I've learned so much about diss tracks, the rules of the game, as a 54 yo white male. I've seen so many RENegades in their 50s, 60s, and 70s and we're all learning about this culture now. Ren responding as he did, calling out the division and the hate comments that have been thrown out into the ring, can hopefully get more people realizing this isn't just an act of hate but a tried and true form of dueling. It's awesome.
Hopefully this opens up more eyes.
Where Dotta was way off base was talking about the culture. Ren is well versed on the culture and even celebrates it in all his songs.
I've never considered myself a rap fan, and by and large I'm still not, it's just not my scene. But like you said I've learned SOOO much following Ren. In looking for reactions of Ren I found Knox Hill and he has probably done more to bring me over into the world of rap through his reaction videos. Because I didn't grow up in it, I didn't even know Rap had rules the artist needed to follow! I don't really appreciate the content of a lot of the Rap I've heard, but I've been introduced to a subgenre of rap that isn't about terrible vices and I do really enjoy that! I've always gravitated towards more of the spoken word songs and I love well crafted lyrics that have deeper meaning. One of my favorite artists growing up was C.W. McCall because a lot of his songs were more in that style. It has been unexpectedly entertaining watching this beef!

@@mcflyjp I had for me! I'm really grateful to Ren for being so talented and using that talent to introduce me to several types of music I wasn't overly familiar with! Along with Rap he also introduced me to some Reggae in his Busking videos! Again something I would have said I wasn't a fan of but listening to Ren made me reevaluate and now I'm much more open to it!

This is quintessential Ren. First he demonstrates that he can bury him if he wants to, then he digs him up and performs CPR.

I’ve learned quite a lot about battle rap by watching this whole situation play out which has been fun.

The Kombucha line has another layer to it. There are two different Kombuchas. One is Kombucha tea. So when Ren says he's not brewing Kombucha, he means Dotta's not brewing any T. The other meaning of Kombucha is a symbiotic CULTURE of bacteria and yeast.
A few people have mentioned that and I really didn't talk about the T part on the reaction but that's what I saw it as. As for the CULTURE part that's what adds even another layer. Ren is so good at the double or multiple meaning rhymes
It's also used by people who are on a diet (instead of unhealthy laxatives) because it makes prevents constipation and allows the bowel to remove still digestible fats from the digestive tract. So there are THREE levels to that like.

Ren has the potential, I believe, to do anything he wants and do it well. All I've yet to see is country (which I'm fine with).

Ren is a DIAMOND! Thing is... I'm not as generous as Ren. No clicks or Subs for the Dot. Life is too short to waste time on Parasitic Pricks who spray negativity on real talent - just for the Clicks. I think Ren is pointing out that sometimes for certain people it takes someone giving you a boost. Not everyone can be multi talented with knowledge and artistry in multiple genres.

I think, just from context, that Dotta perceives himself as someone who has worked his ass off and hasn't made it to the next level. And then he sees dudes the color of Knox and Ren blowing up instead. I'm not saying he's right, but I can definitely see slipping into that mindset. We all go there, from time to time. Dotta's problem is that he put that projection out in public and then amplified it.
I think Dotta is a solid rapper. He's got internals, compounds, condensed schemes. He's got an absolutely filthy voice. I think his biggest issues are releasing poorly (to put it mildly) engineered music, and a whopping zero flow switches per song.The talent is there, he just chose blame over work. I honestly hope he puts it in, and finds traction... and maybe therapy.
That's the thing ain't it? You can make excuses but if you don't out in the work then it doesn't matter.

When he announced this release, I knew that it would be something different and not just a simple response.

Dotta for the last year, or maybe before that? has been trying to goad other YT Rappers/reactors with high subs, just to try to grow his YT channel. everyone ignored him. He dissed Knox Hill, and Knox new nothing about it until Dotta's arranged Ren diss. So Knox brought 2 diss tracks within 24hrs and buried Dotta. Now this between Dotta and Ren' is not a beef, After messages back and forth. Ren agreed with Dotta to a battle rap, just for fun, and the sport of hip hip. Just like it used to be. Say the nastiest shit to each, after shake hands it's over till the next battle rap. Trouble was Dotta brought Knox into his Ren's diss Knox fired back. In this one, Ren set the rules. Just One diss track each. Done in one take. post on YT let the people decide the winner. THE END. 😊 Ren is doing for Dotta, just like he's done for other You Tuber's, trying to help Dotta to grow his YT Channel. The line "I've just played you at your game, so welcome to mine, I want all my fans to show Dotta the Time" says it all. Ren's Giving King Dotta another chance to do it right. Michelle Show, is not going to be happy. 🤣

I listened to some of his stuff. He got promise but he's really gotta work on flow switches, riding the momentum of his rhymes, and most importantly, production. Sounds like he's recording on a dollar tree mix with a beat he recorded on a flip phone.

I dont think you'd think it had been worked out and they decided to do the vids if you'd been more closely following- Dotta has been flaming in various rapper/reactors comments attacking them and their followers, in some cases for months/ nearly a year. And dotta has so few followers yet why would knox or Ren bother coming to some agreement with him?
I've been following very closely. And I know the situation. Ren isn't one to pander to naysayers or haters. And I didn't mean "come to an agreement" but I'm assuming they at least had a conversation outside of the diss tracks.
Now to stick up for his friends I get it. But I still think something went on behind the scenes before all this went down. Not necessarily saying they are all friends. But there was something outside of this. This is all speculation of course.
And I know he (Dotta) has even been making alt accounts to talk trash. So I'm Well aware of the situation.

Fun reaction! I don't agree with your stance that it's ok to do a hateful show just for the clicks if it isn't authentic. That's equivalent of excusing a CEO for making immoral business decisions and hiding behind "it's only business". Same excuse have been used by and for politicians making divisive statements: "it's hyperbole", "it's only politics".
What it is is hypocrisy; to do one thing and then claim that we are 'really' someone else. We are what we put out into the world! Whether we like it or not, our actions define us and speech is an action. Let's not feed the self-delusion of these people. Or ourselves for that matter - we all have blind spots we are actions don't measure up to our words. But the first thing we can do is to acknowledge that it's hypocrisy.
I do make a distinction between that and when it's pre-agreed upon - like a roast or a battle-rap. That's like two fighters getting in the ring of their own volition, and it's not the same as some dude going around starting fights on the streets just to 'test himself'.
I said the opposite of that. I said I don't like when people aren't authentic. But I also would get if this is a healthy way for everyone to kind of hash out their beef with each other. Gives everyone clout and essentially becomes a positive in the end.

Sure, I might agree with you that it could be a way of hashing out your beef with someone - but I'd like to use the analogy of the ring again: it's fine if both step into it of their own choice. But in my book it's not ok if one is just lashing out at the other; better than physical confrontation, sure, but degrees in hell as the saying goes.
My experience is that not that many disputes have been settled by insults, no matter how cleverly worded they are. We often find better success if we can reach out with respect if we take issue with what someone has said or done.

It was definitely fake beef that Michelle Show started it by getting Dotta wound up and taking shots at Knox. I think that was totally set up between Michelle and Dotta to give Dotta an excuse to do this. Michelle absolutely just is a pot stirrer for clicks.
Knox is definitely takin his victory laps and rubbin it in hard. I think if Knox and Ren had already settled shit with this guy then his diss tracks would have been a lot better. Idk Knox might do that, I don't know anything about him, but I don't think Ren would do that. I feel like hed view that as lying to his fans. Dotta got just under 50k views off his Kingdom Come diss track in less than a week, because Ren told us to check it out. Dotta was still under 900 subs last I checked, a full day later he's up to 2.1k subs. That's over a thousand new subs in one day just because Ren told people to give him a shot. Dude has enough subs and enough watch time clocked now, because of Ren, to qualify for monetization. Ren has done more for this guy in a week than he ever deserved. I was telling my husband, which thought Dotta was garbage, that compared to other rappers of the same experience, he's probably not too bad. I didn't think he was trash, definitely not top tier, but no one starts that way. I hope Dotta learns from this experience and stops being an ass to people. Maybe he will take this opportunity that Ren's given him to level up his game.
Flows are there and I see potential. But he has issues with rapping with momentum. Hell start a phrase that sounds like it will go somewhere awesome but then stops and changes phrases. Almost makes me disappointed he didn't keep going.
Productions are trash which also plays a huge impact.

@@mcflyjp It's not you it's YT. You just aren't allowed to say things that don't strictly follow the woke orthodoxy. Basically I was just making the point that Dotta is wrong for thinking hip hop/rap was a black culture thing. That "struggle" he refers to when talking about his life, that he equates to ownership of hip hop, is not a black struggle, it's a poor struggle. England isn't the melting pot that America is, not to say it isn't diverse, but it's far more white than we are, and they have just as much poverty if not more. And this poverty manifests itself in it's identifying values the same way no matter race. Poor white people struggle to climb out of their social class the same as anyone. The social class creates people of certain values, and it's those values that hold people down, not skin color.
I wish Ren would stay above this nonsense. I mean, it's entertaining, but it's thuggish and beneath his other bodies of work. I love Ren, but I'm not a fan of the flex songs. It contradicts the class and dignity that he expresses in his great works.

I agree with you for the most part. I think we have to realize that systemic oppression is definitely real and that many of the black communities really aren't being helped in the slightest. But that also doesn't mean people should use that as an excuse as to why they aren't rich or motivated. Many people have gotten out of it out of sheer will and determination to not be a statistic.
