Yo dude! Loving your content first of all, glad I stumbled across your channel and loved the comments you made about the Izzo in your other summary video. I have an opportunity to buy an Izzo at a very competitive price from a friend who wants to move it, like you I think I never would’ve typically expected to enjoy a shorter travel trail bike, but with it upforked, and tuning in the rear I think it might be the right blend for me. Would love to hear more of your thoughts and terrain covered with it!
Yo! Glad you are enjoying the videos! Thanks for the support! Regarding the Izzo: In my opinion, that bike can handle almost anything you throw at it; that said, it is slightly bike skill dependent. If you are a skilled rider with a fair amount of experience, my assumption is that you will enjoy it right away. In contrast, if you are somewhat new to riding, that bike will require some better line choice and bike skill to get the most out of it. All in all, the fact it requires better handling for tough terrain, from my perspective, is a good thing as it will require you to become a smoother rider. Hope this helps!
@@PeterJamison Yeah man; it does totally help! I live in Austin full time, travel up to Northwest Arkansas and ride the Bentonville scene often, I ride Spider Mountain bike park in Austin, and get out West whenever I can. I come from a Moto racing back ground, so most of what I'm chasing most of the time is speed on the trail, being able to flow and hit jump lines. I don't necessarily love hitting tech/chunky trails at speed and just depending on the bike to eat it up; if anything, like you said I prefer to find my clean line and pick apart the trail like im used to doing during a race.
Beauty. I found it a nightmare to put on those rubber washers on the rear brake lines as it enters and exits the frame and re-enters and exits the rear suspension arm.. And is it just me or did I miss the olives on the brake hoses while installing? Have fun riding it!
Pro tip for the rubber washers is to toss two drops on chain lube on the inside prior to sliding them on, that will make your life a lot easier (speaking from experience). Regarding the brakes, the Shimano brakes (in this case XT 4 piston) come pre-bled and the olive is actually inside of the lever from the factory. Thus, all you do is cut the line, install a new barb and then insert into the lever and tighten. Very simple, hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions! Happy riding!
I saw it’s a size medium, do you think at 5’9 going off of YT’s chart a Med or Large would be better? Haven’t seen many local so I’ve been trying to figure out what to go with, I ride in Florida which has a pretty good amount of climbing but some fun descents and flow trails with good jumps and drops. Any input from you would be awesome!
Hello! Given the riding you are doing you could really go either way. Medium will be a bit more snappy and fun, where as the large will be a tad bit more stable. I have a full video discussing bike sizing on my channel that I would recommend checking out for more information. Additionally, I have an Izzo bike check releasing on Wednesday with a lot of information on my bike setup. Hope this helps!
Hello! Actually just set up 29" front and rear, so nothing too crazy going on. I just have a longer fork at 140mm installed. Please feel free to ask any other questions!
@@PeterJamison thanks for the reply! Yep, on the bike both wheels looked the same, but at the workshop the rear one seemed smaller :) I’ve tried Izzo once and was very pleased with how supportive and poppy it feels. However, riding only twice a week I don’t have much time to adapt for different rear wheel sizes, so I’m thinking about mulleting Izzo to match my Capra. Probably a bad idea, but you never know until you try :))
@@MTBforUA Of course, happy to give insight where I can! I really enjoy the Izzo and glad you liked it too. Interesting approach with wanting to mullet it, after some tweaking I am sure it would be a super fun setup!
Beautiful build! Is your Z1 air sprung? Looking around online & I can't find a 140mm red Z1 (only black). Did you just drop in a 140 spring? Thanks in advance!
Hello! Glad you like the build! The Z1 is air sprung, which I run on all of my bikes due to how adjustable they are, and it has just been lowered with a 140 air spring. Sorry you are having trouble finding a red one! If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask 🙏🏼
What tire set are you running? I have a Izzo core 2 I get into some pretty rocky areas at my local trail and the original forekaster that came with the bike ain’t cutting it
I run the Maxxis Assegai in the front and DHR II in the rear, both in the double down casing. For most riding the EXO plus casing will offer enough protection and support though. Hope this helps!
That is the exact tire I would personally recommend: I run that in the front on most of my trail bikes with a 2.4 DHR II in the rear in either the DD or DH casing 👍🏼 The 2.5 width is a great confidence boost.
what a beauty😍
Glad you like it! 👊🏼👊🏼

That’s awesome! Moto background is a huge plus! Enjoy the trails!
Hello man
Awesome build!
Can i put a 2.5 assegai?
I have a core 2 2023 that came with 2.4 dhr2 in the front
I have some crankbrothers wheels
2.5 Assegai should be no problem 💯 Thanks for watching!

Anytime! Hope you enjoy the video on Wednesday!
Looks pretty damn capable to me, however I feel these slow motion shots and video looks like the front forkis just gonna snap off sometimes
Can confirm that the fork never snapped off 🤘🏼
If I’m not mistaken, it’s a mullet. How do you like it? Did you tweak anything to compensate for a smaller rear wheel? Thank you.

Why not cut the steerer? Experiment with different stem heights?
Leaving room to experiment with stack height over the next few weeks 👍🏼🍻
@peterjamison what travel are the forks?
140mm 👊🏼
@@PeterJamison I’m looking at putting 140 on my Izzo but the ones I found on sale are 51mm rake. I’m assuming you use 44mm?

@@PeterJamison what is the offset of the fork? Thank you!
@@JANKOHRASKO101 51mm offset!
What's the bumper on the top of the downtube?
This bike has a restrictive headset so that the fork doesn't spin around and hit the frame, so that bumper aids in that system...
What did you do to reduce the travel to 120mm on the rear?
Typo on my end; my apologies for the confusion! 130mm in the rear!
Is that 50 or 40mm stem?
40mm!
