I started with FTM back when it was with Banner Blue. It just keeps getting better with each update. I originally got it on CDs around twenty-five years ago. Amazing program!

So happy to hear this helped you in that decision. I was just looking at roots magics features again while preparing for an upcoming video on research notes and I still feel family tree maker has a lot more features to offer. I’ll be doing more training videos on FTM in the future☺️
I 've tried RootsMagic, Legacy, and Family Tree Maker. Family Tree Maker is by far my favorite. It just seems the most compatible with the way I work and it has so many wonderful features! I resisted trying it because of the price, but I am so glad I finally took the plunge! :)
I've used FTM for years and years - but due to a variety of issues in my family I've done almost no genealogy work for about 5 years. In the process I've forgotten many of the ways to work with FTM plus the 2019 version has many upgrades that I need to learn how to use. It's a great program and I'm looking forward to learning the things I've forgotten and all the new features.
I’m going to be working on putting out a series of videos for FTM coming real soon. I’m still learning it also so it’s taking me some time to get the hang of it but I love it. They also have a digital software program that will compile stories into books for you, which I’m super excited to learn about.
I want to do stories and books, but I just don’t have the time so when I saw this, I jumped on it, so it works with family tree maker
I found over a thousand duplicates. Is there a quicker way to merge all at once?
Were your duplicates from importing your tree from family search or ancestry or a gedcom file?
I have Family Tree maker 2008 from my mother, I wonder if it. can be transferred to the new, or do I need the new one? How do you merge Temple info into it?

you can merge temple names and the status of them into FTM. It will sync with family search and with the ordinances.
If you have a file on your computer with the backed up tree of FTM from your old version or a GEdCom file you can import it into FTM.

I don't want any of my information going to the cloud, or anywhere else on the internet for that matter unless I put it there myself. Is there a way to turn this automatic backup feature off?
Yes, you can choose if you want to use the cloud or not, as well as choosing whether to connect ancestry or family search.
@@chilixcheesee You would need to pay for the cloud back up. so if you don’t pay for it then you wouldn’t need to worry about it!
It seems that 2019 is old -- do you know when they are coming out with an update? Would really love to know to make my money stretch.
I know they do updates every several years. I really don’t know when the next one will be but I will definitely see if I can find more info on that.
Keep in mind if you buy it and there’s a new one released you only pay for the upgrade not the whole program again.
