Nice and simple..exactly what I was looking for as a sewing guide to replace my old one- it was made 35 years ago for my nana, I inherited it 20 years ago. After 35 years of constant, daily wear it finally is ready to be retired! This style of apron will hold up for many years of service! Thank you for a refresher course..it's been years since I've sewn like this and I needed a good review! Well done, and many thanks!

This tutorial was super easy to follow, especially with the written out instructions. It was my first sewing project and my mom absolutely loved it! My grandma asked me to make her one as well. Thanks so much!!

Melanie - your videos have inspired me to start sewing! I was given some white-washed denim fabric and decided to use it to make one of these aprons. I had only sewn a few pillowcases before this. It turned out amazing! I also added few more pockets, including a cell phone pocket at the top.

Beautifully taught and executed! Sewing some Thanksgiving themed items to raffle to raise funds for our work charity for this Holiday season. We do a "feed a family" project and then do gifts for a family in need at Christmas time. I think this apron will be a perfect addition to the items and I have just the fabric in mind!

Perfect timing on this video! Just a couple days after you posted it my sister asked if I could make her an apron, and she specifically asked for me to make the straps long enough to wrap around and tie in the front. So I'm going to try to make one for her birthday, I just hope I have time with all the other projects I'm working on!

This is a great video, however you may wanna edit it to say you should have 17" left for the straps as you say 15" and that will leave someone short if they buy fabric based off the measurements, your blog also says 15". I just wanted to give you a heads up so you could fix it, at least on your blog lol I love your channel and have made this apron for myself and my mom, 2 of my sisters want one now too haha!

I realized 12 inches for the ties and 5 inches for the neck strap. I was left with 16 1/2 inches of fabric So I cut four strips of 3 and strips of 2 1/4.

    MY RECOMMENDATION:
I’m 5 ft 3 and the bottom of each side of the apron went far too down. The straps lay on my bum, rather than on my waist so I recommend cutting less than 13 inches down. Wish I had known this before making it. Hopefully the person I’m gifting it to has a better fit since she’s taller. My boyfriend is 5 ft 10 and it was perfect on him!
Other than that, great tutorial! Easiest one I found.

Hi Melanie, thank you for a good idea as to the straps. For someone who is 5' 6" tall, would you use the same measurements? Keep the videos coming please with new ideas. When I make my apron, how do I send you a picture? Greetings from Chelmsford, MA.

I thought this should be very easy to follow except i didn't see how you came up with those measurements, and about the length of how far down from top to side, when cutting, was this your comfort level for your waist or hips to put in the ties ? And i loved the material on both aprons, Thanks Melanie Ella in Texas

Is the finished length from neck to bottom, 28" (approx/less hem)?
I got the 1 yard of material (36") then cut off 8" for the pocket. So does this mean the apron finishes to about 26" wide by 28" tall?
