Good Gracious, these trains are breathtaking!! They pass by the seconds... I´ve never seen anything like this on film. It taught me how dramatic fast speed is. THANK YOU WERRRY MUCH!!!
Ok, that’s it, I’ve found the perfect steam video. I’ve always loved the shots at Penrith, but that compilation is just fantastic! Thanks for putting this one together David, definitely my favourite so far. Cheers Tony
What an excellent compilation, David, and very clear shots... actually incredibly clear, given the speed! I liked the extra perspective of the on-board sequences. Kind regards, Bob.
What an amzing compilation! Fantastic viewing... with just a little imagination, remove the OLE, go into b/w images and this compilation could be a typical day at Penrith from the 50s which Bishop Treacy would recognise; bar the odd LNER interloper (!) perhaps on diversion over the Eden Valley line, Penrith to Darlington..... Thanks for editing and publishing this film, very much appreciated.
Excellent video, David . . . no-one does it better than you . . . not even close. The pure artistry of your composition is mesmerizing . . . from an ex-pat railway artist and member of the Guild of Railway Artists who exhibits in London, New York and here in Vancouver.
Thank you very much again Roger, and apologies for the slow reply - RUclips notifications don't seem to be as reliable as they once were. That's very kind and lovely to read - I've looked you up and am looking forward to watching a virtual conversation you took part in; it makes quite a difference to know about your work and makes me appreciate your comments even more. Best wishes, David.
Many thanks Austin, somebody (a non enthusiast) once asked me why I didn't just go to the NRM if I wanted to see steam engines; hopefully performances like these would explain why!
Nice video great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
All of the engines in this video are allowed to run at 75 mph (except the black 5s, which are permitted to run at 60 mph). In steam days, they would have been allowed to do more although there has always been a slight speed restriction at Penrith. Many thanks for your comment.
Many thanks for all of the likes on this video and for those who have taken the time to comment, all very much appreciated 👍
It’s like 1960s all over again with mainline steam locomotives whizzing through Penrith at very high speed

Thank you very much, greatly appreciated! Hard to beat steam at speed!
Wow. Memories of the happy hours spent on Penrith station in the 1950s watching the steamers powering their way through.
Thanks Roger, glad it brought back happy memories.
Excellent collection David, always a great Station to catch steam at speed and some great onboard shots.
Many thanks Nige, the curve definitely adds to the drama, and such a good looking station, particularly before the footbridge went in.

Thank you very much Tony, that's very kind and glad you enjoyed it so much. Always exciting to see them flying around that bend!
What an excellent compilation, David, and very clear shots... actually incredibly clear, given the speed! I liked the extra perspective of the on-board sequences. Kind regards, Bob.
Thanks very much Bob, much appreciated. Some good memories over the years and usually a good test of my panning arm and eyes!
2:46 looks like Galatea is trying to show everyone why jubilees are always great at flooring through Penrith at very high speed as it did in the 1960s

That’s a perfect passenger view of 60009 the foreigner of this route whizzing through at speed
Many thanks Scott, fond memories of that run and performance from no.9.

Many thanks Austin, somebody (a non enthusiast) once asked me why I didn't just go to the NRM if I wanted to see steam engines; hopefully performances like these would explain why!
A classic collection, David! Many thanks.
Many thanks Alan, much appreciated. Nice going through them again and recalling some happy memories.
Excellent compilation David. Capture the locos at speed. Onboard clips were brilliant. Kind regards C&A
Many thanks C&A, happy memories from the trips behind no.9. Kevin Treeby and his fireman had her well and truly flying on the February run.
Brilliant as ever David, can’t beat steam at speed and I remember Galatea in the last bit one shot as I was stood next to you 😂🚂
Many thanks Steve, can't believe that's getting on for 3 years ago, scary!

What speeds that beauties reached in normal routes? Incredibly fast and steady runs

how do u get to that shot at 2:17 been around Penrith before and could only see the station as a decent shot but others keep finding places like 0:33
