  • WCCO multi part report on Nuclear War. In 1982 the cold war was white hot. Reagan Admin was putting MX (first strike) missiles into Europe. Americans were being told nuclear was would be "survivable." A nationwide nuclear freeze movement was burgeoning.
    Millions, on both sides of the Atlantic, were freaked.

    4:15 No. Each Minuteman-II missile had a single 1.2 megaton warhead. Fortunately, this missile and its corresponding warhead were ultimately retired from service in the early 1990s wothout having ever been fired in anger.

    The same government willing to launch these ICBMs was also thoughtful enough to provide coloring books for the kiddies. Let's all hope that their crayons don't vaporize before they get a chance to use them.
