Austin is really beautiful, I 've only seen it in movies before but it's really beautiful in real life, the video was so refreshing, and Will and you both are amazing.
I’ve lived in Addis Ethiopia, Nairobi Kenya, Manhattan & Brooklyn NY, DC-DMV, all places have their own good & bad part but Austin fulfills most best things in this imperfect world. In Austin people are nice & welcoming, it’s diverse with music , good food ...quality of life and safety. I see many people complaining about traffic, 😂 you know what city I’ve never seen any traffic? Erie, Pa. I’ve stayed there for half year. Those of you complaining please move there 🤩 However the city of Austin could do better to cut the traffic by half as the traffic is not Austin’s traffic but a passing through traffic. The city could construct beltways like DC and block those ugly 18 wheeler 🚛 trucks. 🎊🎈🥰😍😘💚💛❤️ Austin happy 2020!
If you are ever in San Antonio on the weekend you have to stop by Gruene's town square. It is on the outskirts of San Antonio and we always have a lovely time when we visit
I was born and raised in San Antonio with quite a few visits to Austin and i can say that Austin is more for younger party going, forever free kind, and San Antonio is more for those who still like to party sometimes but want to settle down and spread roots and get old. Austin is cool and happening, but San Antonio is chill.
A.A. V thank God! I pray Texas stays great and doesn’t flip left. Leftism is a cancer. Yours is a typical elitist, ill-informed leftist response. Democrat-run cities are already failures. But you have fun with that-it’s gonna be a long five years for ya!! 🤣🤣🤣
Been everywhere but Jacob's Well and Mozart's. I love Mayfield Park. The hiking trail holds one of my favorite places in all the world to observe 4:20, whenever the opportunity arises.
the (tragic) irony (or perhaps poetic justice) is that people got so stuck up about austin and started telling the world that it was cool so much that droves and droves and droves and droves of people started moving there and then messed it up (see the traffic situation, etc.) . . . then after all the hype that people created about austin, and people started to move in, many had the audacity to tell people to not move to austin and they got mad because people from Cali and other hipster areas moved in. . . Maybe they should have been more humble, instead of creating the current situation by being so arrogant about austin (a common austin based ethos is that nothing is cool in texas but it, when that's is a huge lie, see other texas cities). also, most of the charming places in and around austin are kind of over done at this point, for instance, the oasis used to be alot smaller and cozier, now it's just another behemoth quasi-touristy spot. . . and the watering holes are polluted and at times closed off to swimmers because of higher than normal bacteria levels (see dogs dying after swimming in town lake) but at least austin has a bunch of. . . . of food trucks, yes there are many food trucks to indulge in and other food establishments that have legions of followers that would rather wait in herd like lines to eat a stranger's food because they bought into the hype, instead of preparing their own meals with their own hands. And 6th street is mainly a den of alcoholic anchored stupidity and explosive violence so much that it had to be cordoned off by law enforcement. oh and all this new love for austin's eastside is just a symptom of the effects of gentrification. . . the eastside was the historical jim crow established section designated for afro americans and chicanos. . . now it's the cool spot for developers and upwardly mobile types that are looking forward to moving the poor out faster than they've been doing for the last 10 years.
Great video, and thanks for visiting San Antonio! There's a lot to see and do here, but I know what it's like to be on a tight schedule. Hope 2020 brings you lots more adventures!
Agree. The traffic completely ruins a pretty great place. We've been here about 15 years and we're looking to move away because it just takes too long to get anywhere and everything is overpriced.
I have been in a LDR with my boyfriend for 7 years, he's from Austin and I'm from California. We are closing the distance in two weeks and I am so excited to be moving to ATX, I love it there so much!
ObiJuan Kenobi Yes culture shock for sure! The transition is really really hard, I miss Los Angeles, I still see it as home- and in a lot of aspects I wish I could go back. But nothing was doable in that city, and housing costs are outrageous! Compared to California, in my opinion Austin traffic doesn’t even exist!
The Bats under Congress Bridge fly out at dusk..it is quite a site. Floating down the river is a fun summer activity. SXSW music festival is awesome! Halloween night on 6th Street is a blast. The most creative costumes can be found in Austin!

Born and raised in Austin, I really enjoyed this video! It reminded me I haven’t been to San Antonio in awhile, I think I’ll take a drive and visit the river walk again. 😇
Austin worth moving to or Dallas?
@@rkingfarmer Nope. Unless you like horrible traffic, extortion level property taxes / or rent, and summers so hot the Devil cries for mercy. The week betwern Christmas and New Years is nice though. The other 51 weeks, meh.
@@Birdbike719 I mean it cant be worse than Birmingham.... but Dallas better in ur opinion?
@@Birdbike719 also, you talking about Austin or Dallas?
@@rkingfarmer Austin, sorry forgot to clarify.
Ok, here’s my rant.
- The blue hole is in Wemberly, looks like he added that. I wouldn’t want to drive in traffic from downtown to wemberly.
- no Matt’s el rancho. Matts is a whole reason to come here.
- didn’t mention the record stores here like Antone’s and Waterloo.
- didn’t mention la Fonda San Miguel’s.
Add those, you’re set! Don’t mean to be rude. If I come as as rude, I am not trying too. Austin is an amazing place. We have had movies filmed here. One of them would be dazed and confused. Stars a young Matthew McConaughey. Very good movie. Have a great New Years, ya’ll!
Kurt, you're dead, Prob 20years. What's it like in the afterlife?
There are literally thousands of things to do. I'm pretty sure he could't list them all!! Why don't you start a local tour channel and showcase all the unmentioned hotspots!!
*wimberley
Not to mention pretty much all of Robert Rodriguez movies have some scenes from Austin
@@GLedesma Idk, you’ll figure out ;)
Love your videos! Came across your videos regarding train travel. Love what you are doing. Also, I just purchased a hat from WIRTH and love it! More importantly am behind the message of the company. Thank you for introducing me to them and to your travels.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hello how're you doing hope you and your family are safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Wow omg it was all very cool ... you know all the cool spots mike... great vlog you just keep getting better! Thanks for tag along😘
Jade, thank you so much!
I have great friends who show me around and I’m just glad I can bring you along as well!
Thanks for watching!
I lived in New Braunfels for 10 years and loved this video. You hit a homerun showcasing the Austin to San Antonio run on I-35. As always a big thumbs up! Great stuff!!
Still can't believe I haven't been! Great video Mike
Thanks buddy.
When are we going to burn rubber together?
GO! (Or I hope you have by now)
ATX is so awesome. NYC had my heart until Austin stole it. I never thought I could enjoy an area as much as this little-big town in Travis County. 🖤 it’s been three years, and I’m absolutely desperate to go back.
instaBlaster.
I live in Austin and I will never learn how many things there is to do. What a great way to live.
I’m from Austin, Texas and I didn’t even know some of these places even existed near me!
Awesome Alexa! Get out and enjoy!
DownieLive Yea! Thanks for the video. ❤️
How? Lie
These are the most mainstream cliche tourist popular spots in Austin. Jacob's well isn't in Austin. You're lying if you dont know about the oasis, Barton pool, and Mozarts.
Poppen I didn’t know about the BlueHole and Jacobs Well. Yes they’re not exactly in Austin but they’re near Austin. And it is one of the attractions that I didn’t know of. Of course I know the oasis I live so close to it. Barton creek and Mozart’s are musts if you come to Austin.
Also how can you call someone a liar if you don’t even know them?
If you havent left Texas yet....Waco has cool stuff to see too! The Dr Pepper Museum, Texas Rangers Museum, an awesome zoo....Cameron Park is huge with miles and miles of trails.....
This makes me nostalgic for home. :D This is definitely a guide to Austin by an Austinite. So many places that I take my friends when it's their first time!
Hello how're you doing hope you and your family are safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
What a timing for me! Me an my buddies are riding to Austin this April, with a stop in San Antonio. It looks like we have to stay longer in each city than we planned! Absolutely beautiful!
Just discovered your channel during a rainy holiday week… loved it! Thanks for the great videos and for your Wirth hats initiative. Just ordered a couple. Looking forward to more videos in 2020.
Yay Tori!! Thanks for watching and enjoy the hats!
Happy 2020!
Those of you complaining please move there 🤩
However the city of Austin could do better to cut the traffic by half as the traffic is not Austin’s traffic but a passing through traffic. The city could construct beltways like DC and block those ugly 18 wheeler 🚛 trucks.
🎊🎈🥰😍😘💚💛❤️ Austin happy 2020!
Dang and now you are making me miss Austin. Grew up in Texas and lived in Austin for about 5 years. I do miss it too.
Hello how're you doing hope you and your family are safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Traffic sucks in Austin and it's "Mi Tierra" space in the middle, you forgot to highlight their huge Mexican bread selection.
If you are ever in San Antonio on the weekend you have to stop by Gruene's town square. It is on the outskirts of San Antonio and we always have a lovely time when we visit
The Oasis is 100% in Austin. It’s around 27 minutes out of downtown without traffic. I know, because I lived down the street from Lake Travis...
travis county, Lake Travis > Westlake. sorry not sorry.
I was born and raised in San Antonio with quite a few visits to Austin and i can say that Austin is more for younger party going, forever free kind, and San Antonio is more for those who still like to party sometimes but want to settle down and spread roots and get old. Austin is cool and happening, but San Antonio is chill.
Another amazing vlog! Love it when the two of you team up.👍🏾
I am under the impression that 'austinites" are leaving "austin"
Anteroization it’s turning into a mecca for the homeless and liberals/leftists.
Rebecca Carraway Austin been a very liberal/left city for decades. Thank goodness, and that is spreading into the suburbs hard :)
Shaheen yea yay for y’all!! Gonna be like the shithole that is San Fransisco any day now 👍🏼
A.A. V thank God! I pray Texas stays great and doesn’t flip left. Leftism is a cancer. Yours is a typical elitist, ill-informed leftist response. Democrat-run cities are already failures. But you have fun with that-it’s gonna be a long five years for ya!! 🤣🤣🤣
celestial trompa amen sistah!
Barton springs ain't free LMAO neither is Jacobs well
PS. Dont let this video inspire you to move here we already PACKED and the traffic is crazy
Been everywhere but Jacob's Well and Mozart's. I love Mayfield Park. The hiking trail holds one of my favorite places in all the world to observe 4:20, whenever the opportunity arises.
Love Texas! Thanks again for great content man! Keep it real!
You’re welcome! Absolutely
Mi Tierra is super fun, but if you wanna eat on the riverwalk I recommend Casa Rio!
Hello how're you doing hope you and your family are safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Two of my late uncles used to play mariachi music at the Mi Tierra place.
Gruene is a historic district within New Braunfels not a town just so y’all know
Hello how're you doing hope you and your family are safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
the (tragic) irony (or perhaps poetic justice) is that people got so stuck up about austin and started telling the world that it was cool so much that droves and droves and droves and droves of people started moving there and then messed it up (see the traffic situation, etc.) . . . then after all the hype that people created about austin, and people started to move in, many had the audacity to tell people to not move to austin and they got mad because people from Cali and other hipster areas moved in. .
My wife and I were just talking about a trip to the Austin area the other night. This video helped keep that idea on our radar. Thanks Mike!
Jason, you’re welcome and enjoy! Austin is a great city with lots to do!
@@DownieLive I have heard lots of good things! Thanks again!
I love Austin TX I stayed near Barton springs which was a major draw for me. The wine growing region is incredible.
I live here in austin its not that easy traffic its so bad to go around
Agree. The traffic completely ruins a pretty great place. We've been here about 15 years and we're looking to move away because it just takes too long to get anywhere and everything is overpriced.
Try living in Chicago. I have to leave 2 hours before work just to make it on time, give or take 10 minutes. lol
Come to Los Angeles baby...
GOD ShallSmiteYou no Mopac is a shit storm and i35 is a death trap lol try 9 am or 3-6 on the Mopac and tell me it’s ok 😅
boo hoo. it is nothing compaired to LA
The true gems of Central texas
I live 40 minutes outside of Austin and I dread going out there sometimes.
I have been in a LDR with my boyfriend for 7 years, he's from Austin and I'm from California. We are closing the distance in two weeks and I am so excited to be moving to ATX, I love it there so much!
Dara I’m from CA, and new to Austin too!
@@SS-rw4qb Yay! Wishing you a happy life in Austin!
@@SS-rw4qb How was the transition? Any culture shock ? Is the traffic really as bad as California?
Dara Thank you so much! You too! Hope you enjoy it here ❤️
ObiJuan Kenobi Yes culture shock for sure! The transition is really really hard, I miss Los Angeles, I still see it as home- and in a lot of aspects I wish I could go back. But nothing was doable in that city, and housing costs are outrageous! Compared to California, in my opinion Austin traffic doesn’t even exist!
... Barton Springs & Lake Travis 🌴 but that Oasis sure wasn't there when ℹ rode the Amtrak down in '87 🚄
Oasis was there. Just wasn't built up like it is now.
The Bats under Congress Bridge fly out at dusk..it is quite a site. Floating down the river is a fun summer activity.
SXSW music festival is awesome!
Halloween night on 6th Street is a blast. The most creative costumes can be found in Austin!
90% of this video is outside of Austin, and it's still a pretty average guide.
Everyone in these comments are so negative! You did a good job showing people what they should see as tourists! And I’m a native so of course there’s some things he might not have highlighted but you never can unless you’re from there! Great video man:)
And also I LIKE that you went outside of Austin and showed what the surrounding towns had to offer! Some people will only visit Texas once for a vacation since it’s not super hyped so it’s actually an awesome thing to show!
And I’m also disappointed to see my fellow Austinites being so rude in his comments sections and telling people to stay away. Like our city is amazing and people should be allowed to share in that. The South is known for its hospitality so let’s show him that!
Correction San Antonio is hour and 20 minutes at the most from Austin
🎊 Happy New Year from Ireland ! 🎉
The oasis is in on Lake Travis
Don't eat the food there you will either get the squirts or vomit
Thank you!!! I was born and raised in SanAntonio and lived in Austin for 7 years! There's even more to see. Just stay off the highways at peak times. I go back every year from Michigan. Thank you for showing my towns!!!
Donnie! You’re very welcome! You’re lucky to live in such beautiful places.
@@DownieLive Yes I am. Thanks again. I just sure scribed and can't wait to see everywhere you go see.
Watching this at work, wishing my family and I were there.
Wife and I live in south Texas, and took a trip to Austin a few years ago to see Soundgarden and NIN. Amazing city, beautiful and peaceful. So many great spots. Unfortunately we were short on time and had to go and come. We hit up Capitol St???... Great shops. Ate at Gueros, great food. Definitely want to go back and really enjoy Austin. Luckily we have family there.
See ya soon, Austin.
Dont come here it is not as good as you think it is and the traffic is already bad
I am going next week and your video has me excited
Have fun!
You nailed it!
Thanks Travis. Happy 2020!
I grew up in Austin. I have to say that this was a well put together video. I enjoyed Mozart’s making a feature and I wish Zilker could have been included.
Thanks Geir!
I’ll have to go back to see Zilker Park. But I figured that Zilker Park is covered by most travel guide videos to Austin, and I thought mine would cover some of the least seen places.
Why didn't you do Hippie Hollow? Look it up!
Ha Ha ,,,,, my younger days we used to take binoculars with us to Hippie Hollow and look up at the Oasis only to see people with binoculars looking down at Hippie Hollow!
Not what it used to be.
@@Finnabair54 Nothing here is.
Can you show places like that?? LOL!!!
@GOD ShallSmiteYou they're still full nude if you want.
Taking my grandpa here soon who went to UT in the 70's glad I stumbled on your vid!

the oasis is in austin it’s just in northwest austin
WELCOME TO AUSTIN TEXAS. been there 6 years great place and exciting things always happening. I love to travel to see people, work is a bonus.
Quit movin here lmao week visits only
Will Edmond gotta be the happiest nigga on earth.
I’ve lived in Austin my whole life
I travel for both friends and destinations...but, it's the trip there that is the adventure!
See Austin...and quick. It's rapidly on it's way to becoming another LA or San Francisco, complete with homeless, poop, needles on the sidewalk, and all the other wonderful attractions of big city California.
I got married at Mayfield Park 25 years ago. They have always had Peacocks. Amazing place.
Woohoo Austin!!!!! Just go back once you came to party and domt leave ya trash!!
my favorite part - all of it !!! you two always make every adventure so much fun. And as far as my favorite part of traveling - the places, the people and meeting up with friends is always the best. 😎
I was actually at the Riverwalk that night! lol I live in Round Rock!
San Antonio at Christmas time is pretty amazing. So lit up.
