    Good to see a shop-made table saw that isn't all made out of wood! I do note that your blade does not tilt around the point at the top of the table- I know this is hard to arrange, but quite important.

      @@bellevuesnekkeri Yes, I have seen that. I have recently automated a router table, so was interested- a table saw may be next. I see you dropped the sliding table- for me, that is an important feature, but should joint the table at the edge of the blade. I will also drive it from an Arduino & small touch screen- more than capable enough. But metal construction is my choice.

      Mainly that it does not have trunnions. The adjustments are also getting somehow sloppy after 10 years, and I just I hate not having an insert plate to work with angled cuts, due to the hinge point being below the surface. I also want to make the height, angle and fence adjustments digital with servo motors and and an HMI. While the construction looks rough and a little janky, it’s obviously very well put together and solidly built. Bravo! One of the better homebuilt table saws that I have seen. It gives me some ideas on how to rebuild my tiny Dremel table saw; which will have a combination mini Beismeyer style fence with the addition of a rod and linear bearing on the rear, a Dremel router station on the right wing (just like a full sized table saw), and a sliding miter table on the left side. Great build. Epitomizes the idea: If you're going to do it, do it right. "Overkill" is the opposite of the "engineering" that has made so many modern tools and machines sad shadows of the lifetime investments that older models represented. The notion that tech advances will make early replacement a necessity has been used to justify skimping on basics in many cases. Heavy duty constructions with room for unknown modular improvements is the way to create real value. Love your builds.

    • @bellevuesnekkeri

      Thanks Espen. It is immensely time consuming recording such a large build. Especially as I tend to build on the fly, and that would make for ahuge amount of Gb´s of video that might not be useful, due to trial and error. So my guess is that I will rather make an in depth tour of the saw and all its features

    What a nice project! Congratulations! Someday I will build my own saw like yours! I have a question about it: how do you deal with the dust in the linear rails? especially the ones for the cross cut cart. Doesn't it mess up with the linear bearing? Best regards from Brazil! Miguel.

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  4 года назад +1

      Thank you. The dust is no problem as the pillow bearing blocks have "scrapers" (plastic/rubber end seals) so there is minimal dust getting into the bearings. I have been using the saw for close to 10 years without any problems. Good luck on your build

    I'am just learning about these tools. Is there any reason why you would not use a pulling action to avoid getting hit from kickback. And would a cage over the top of the table help with safely ?

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  4 года назад

      Welcome to the hobby. Pulling the piece against you and a cage would help on safety, but completely unpractical to use. A pulling action would force you to lean over a spinning blade, and a cage would disrupt the view. thanks for watching and commenting

    Have you experienced any dust problem on the linear bearings? I have a sliding table with rounded rails braced by std bearings and dust gets in the way all the time making the slide kind of "bumpy" which, in the end, diminishes the quality of the cut. Good job!

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  5 лет назад

      Mainly because it does not have trunnions. The adjustments are also getting somehow sloppy after 10 years, and I just I hate not having an insert plate to work with angled cuts, due to the hinge point being below the surface. I also want to make the height, angle and fence adjustments digital with servo motors and and an HMI.

Also please give me the arbor shaft details(length, diameter at every steps, pillow bearings you used, blade flange, blade thread type ..etc.) It would be really helpful for me.Thank you

    Probably you know but It is important, for safety reasons, that the inclination of the blade is oriented on the opposite side of how you have oriented it. when you cut, your piece, the one on your side, should not be crushed by the blade when it is tilted. Sorry but my english is not enough to explain well, but online you can surely find a lot of information. Ciao!

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  5 лет назад +1

      Left tilting table saws are most commonly used, now a days, with saws that have the rip fence on the right side of the blade. this prevents the cutoff piece from being "trapped" between the bade and the fence

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  5 лет назад

      Yup, that is the main issue with this saw, and one of the reasons I am rebuilding it. It need trunnions to be able to use the same insert , and having the rip fence tape measure being usable

    hi. first of all thank you for sharing your work it`s awesome. i have a few questions if you have the time, i see you`re using a 12" blade at 5200rpm and very short flanges, you have not commented on blade flex or is it a non issue?, what size bearings are you using? and why c3 (is heat a problem)? asking bc you mentioned it`s been in service 10 yrs and it seems you don`t have any complaints to it, last one the linear bearings that you put on the lift mechanism are they holding well and if so can you give me the specs?. well thank you in advance and if you don`t have the time to answer it`s ok too. it`s been a tremendous help in the design of the tool i`m hoping to be making soon. regards. peter

    • @bellevuesnekkeri
      @bellevuesnekkeri  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much for the kind feedback. I am not experiencing any flex in the blade. The reason for using c3 bearings is thats what was installed in the pillow block. Normal deep groove bearings can handle 13.000 rpm, so they would work as well. I just figured that it would not harm to keep them in, The linear rail in the height, as well as for the sliding table are from Bosch Rexroth. 20mm for the height adjustment, and 30mm rails for the table. Way overkill, but thats what I had laying around . Glad you found it useful, and thanks for watching
