From one 2332cc owner to another... there’s nothing like the face of someone who sees or hears our cars ripping past them.... nobody expects the sounds that these motors give off in the upper rpms
Back in the 90's I had a 69 bugn 1776cc. Everyone wanted to ride, I came across a 1 5/8 Thunderbird Exhaust with the Rounded Triangle Flange, single side exhaust the tip was polished and Flared. Have you seen this exhaust or know who still makes them? I want to buy one for my next build but cant find it.
@@mw4382 I had that same set of headers on my bug and I loved it.. I also had a 5 panel (wink) rear view mirror... Can't find those anymore either... So many things that were cool but u can't find anymore...
Pretty amazing when you consider the increase in displacement that is possible with these engines. Basically they are in the neighborhood of doubling in size.
jac mwo cheers : ) back then was running just over 200bhp at the wheels so around 225bhp at flywheel and did a 12 sec 1/4. She’s running a 2387 now with a FK10 cam, must get around to putting up some more clips up 🤙
#Jasonprice, how is it doing in terms of consumption regarding that it pulls very fast when given throotle push.can it be reliable for long distance cruising. That's a massive power i have to say.am in love always with your engine.i have 1965 beetle and i would like to get a turnkey engine in one year time from now with more power around 140bhp-160bhp for daily driving.
jac mwo - no worries, fuel consumption can be pretty poor especially when you have a heavy right foot, but generally cruising on long distance around mid to high 20’s maybe slightly higher if I stick to 60mph. Yes the engine is reliable and it has have done plenty of long distance trips in her, as long as it is built properly and you maintain it correctly it will last. If your aiming for around 150 to 160 reliable bhp I’d go for around 2165cc with 44 or 48 IDFs so will be a good torquey motor and reliable 👍 As far as cost, it all depends on what parts you use ? To pay a professional to build say a 2165cc turnkey your probably you’re looking around 6k, do it your self and you could save a few grand 👍 where abouts are you located ?
Jason price-Am in France but my nationality is kenyan.my vw bettle is back in kenya and second one is under restoration you can email me your contact and i can send a photo or through Instagram if you have mine @ Jackson.carrozzu
this is a cool bug. where'd you get your engine redone because I'm turning 16 soon and I'm planning on getting a bug as my first car for daily driving and ripping on weekends edit: did you get your engine kit from CB Performance by any chance.?
@Jason Price yeah but you need 2.0. Liter go fast. I can do 10 seconds on quarter that's cooking it for stock motor. My first gear will give you whiplash I ben with VW"S since 1969 and had the best turkey engine in the early 80s that was un touchable I can spin tires 1st gear allway down track without touching 2nd gear I would Louse you before you can take your food of clutch 😉 that first gear take off you did in video my engine back n day was 4 times stronger itcwas unbelievable power 🔋 I had 2 of them same real old school engine builders built for me with all premuim material that dont existed nowadays.
@@st-qd8wg I think you’re getting your quarter mile times mixed up with 0 to 60 times. You need at least 200bhp to do the quarter mile in 12 secs in a bug and a gearbox to handle it. A stock 1600cc has 50 bhp at best 👍
@Jason Price I mean 0- 60, not quarter mile. I was replying to you when you mentioned your 2 Liter dose in that distance. Yes, I'm aware you need high 2 Liter motor do that quarter for sure, but 175 hp can pull it off, not necessary 200 hp. Most engines dont have sutch power because you louse bottom end torque 😉 😂👍
The connection from the Autometer mag signal conversion box to the P wire had come loose on the magneto hence the bouncing on the tach. Its running a billet dizzy now.
Waauw ! I realy love your video man ! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if my 2332 with JPM raptor cam 287° will do as well on 11.5 cr.... The car is almost finished now. I'll post a video as well from the first testrun. Could you send me your engine specs please? I'll give you mine then. Thanks and GREAT car !!!!
mahler6x Cheers - if its running that raptor cam and 11.5cr it should have no problems : ) I will ping you over my engine details. Looking forward to seeing your's running!
@@theslamer67 I'm running 1 2387 now, similar spec, just a little less cam FK10 instead of FK89. The comp ratio on the 2332 was 11.5 :1 and the heads were 044 heavily reworked, welded wedgeports with upgraded VWSpeedShop long valve conversion, 44x37.5, 3-angle valve job, titanium retainers and K800 dual springs.

something about these, and porsche's 4 cam flat 4s just have that sound to them that no other can make. even a vw 2180 sounds just as throaty.
Very nice👍 I love old school bugs! ❤️👍🙌😎

wish my 1200 bug would go this well love the sound of this bug
I just Brazil and loved for their wonderful VW !!!
Ahh, the good'ol UK. No other country has sooo many road works haha :P Great video though, the bug genuinely sounds pretty damn good.
yeah New Zealand does, it really fucks me off.
I run 2110 and have to say the sound and acceraltion shocks so many people

Liam Scorgie I rebuilt it 👍
Build it yourself, I did and it outperforms a lot of new cars, upsets a lot of muppets .lol
Did you end up buying a bug?
HI Jason, ckeck out my testdrive of my bug. Installed new cam (JPM raptor) works great on 11to1 CR on 98 fuel. :-)
MACHINE !!!!
My stock 1600cc dose 0 60 I'n 10 seconds with single carburetor running at its best stock no need for 2 Liter 😅🤙
The 12 seconds is the quarter mile time🤙
0 to 60 is 3.9 seconds, I’ll stick to my 2 litre 😄

It will Rev over 8500+ rpm and has a FK89 camshaft
My beetle picks up quicker than that
