Tecsun is definitely a quality Shortwave Radio brand and the Tecsun H-501X will certainly demonstrate that claim! I personally would rather own this Tecsun H-501X over many other brands. I am inclined to agree with you, Gilles, that Tecsun should incorporate RDS into its FM sections! Thank you for your review on the Tecsun H-501X...
I had terrible medium wave reception on mine until last week when I put the long wire in to the fm socket and the reception shot up and I can get hf without an aerial plugged into the am socket or the telescopic raised
The "warbly" SSB sound on ten meters is caused by an unstable master oscillator issue. Common in all H501 and PL990 radios. This issue is also prevelent on 12 and to a lesser degree, 15 meters. This problem exists in the PL-880 as well but not as severe. Both the PL-660 and PL-330 perform better on the upper bands on SSB.
I drag a FTDX10 or similar gear out into bush regularly. Is Tecsun family delivering something I’m missing? Sometimes I want to listen to everything while packing up the camp site. This small form factor has some appeal.
I fixed my kenwood ts450s my falt I hooked up BACKWARDS it was the crow bar protection diode it's in one of my videos I had to sub the diode with a silicon diode the original was a metal can style cannot find one I just put the silicon one in works great thank god😁⚛
Very satisfied about the reception of the radio. But... I have to charge the batteries every day! Even after a day not using the radio, the batteries are very low power. This is dissapointing.
Interestingly you mention in older receivers the Eton EX1M display problem. I purchased one new in the box last year for a high price, and recently the display has become very dim, hard to read. So I gather this is a known problem that occurs with them. I am very disappointed withis problem in a 2005 Era receiver. What do I do to have it fixed? Will Eton support this old a receiver? Ray
Eton radio's, at least newer ones, are haveing A LOT Of Quality, Mfg. PROBLEMS- For now, I wouldn't Buy One- They are OVER PRICED For what you get - I've Had Good Luck with TecSun Radios- I've wanted to get a TecSun AN-48 X Antenna, but, They're out of stock Just about Everywhere -
I just got a new H501 in the mail today. It is charging up at the moment. Thank you for sharing this video.

That's a nice radio👍⚡⚛
Hi. Does the H-501X have a better sound than the S-8800 or the S-2000? Thank you

Well it's either bad cells (so get another quality one - Panasonic / Nitecore) or maybe a design flaw ... cells discharging when radio is turned off?
