I use the Ladder-Lock, can be purchased on Amazon or other online stores, it locks the ladder to the shingles, fascia or gutter.

Yes!! amzn.to/34QSjU0 I've tried a lot of different things for this because not all roofs have gutters to strap off to.
The main reason I'm always using a bungee cord is that when my extension ladder is on my truck, the feet rattle so I bungee those off to stop the rattle.

Painted decks in general are very slick and will tend to slide as soon as you get to the gutter line just like the first guy

Hey Matt, if you are not able to set up your ladder on the yard, how do you properly set up your ladder on a deck or concrete to avoid as many hazards as possible? Thanks!

Check the surface. If it's slippery at all, don't put your ladder there. Keep in mind that the feet on the ladder are pretty sticky. If you do have to put your ladder on a deck, make sure the deck boards are running PARALLEL to the wall and then flip your ladder feet over to the claw side and stick them down in the crack between boards. Most of the time concrete and asphalt are fine unless they're wet. Concrete might be okay wet, but never asphalt ever.
