    This is such a great video! It's SO VERY important to protect our knees as we age. We only get issued two knees when we're born, and no spares. Replacement parts are expensive and never as good as the originals. LOL Thanks for doing this!

      You’re very welcome! Yep, thinking long-term about our bodies is definitely the way to go in my opinion! I want to be enjoying life, movement, and ballet for as long as possible! 🥰👏🏻🙏🩰

    Over the past few days I've watched and partook in several 'ballet for beginners' youtube channels; mimicked the basic 5 positions, and also paid attention to my body as it expressed sudden aches & pains, especially in knees and ankles. As a former fitness trainer, I know how important form & alignment are in relation to movement as well as overall physical physique, so I truly appreciate your thoroughness of instruction.
    As for my diet, it's mostly spot on. That said, I will watch your Eating Like A Ballerina video next to see what resonates with me and what, if any, changes me & my body might choose to make.
    Thank you for these videos. May you continue to be blessed with a healthy, prosperous, and vibrant life. 🥰

    Thank you Tiekka~! i will definitely testify to this. Doing barre has helped me align my knees and i haven't had knee pain in awhile now. But also i think it has to do with how one manages the lower back muscles (especially glute Medius) and once i became very aware of my hips and knee alignment then things became much easier. i'm not saying ballet saved me (i do loads of exercise including PT), but yes, i can definitely follow ballet barres as it doesn't hurt my knees anymore~

      I’m so glad ballet helped your knees feel better! I have arthritis in both my knees from my professional ballet career and I can say with certainty that doing ballet is what keeps my knees feeling good and working smoothly! It’s all about the degree of stress (professional ballet is tough!), but ballet movement itself is absolutely wonderful for many of our everyday aches and pains. 🥰🌸💖🩰

      @@everydayballet Absolutely! Very well said, Tiekka. Oh i didn't know that! You make it look so graceful and effortless! You're an inspiration for those who have arthritis but still want to do ballet- that's so wholesome~! 🥺♥

    Thank you Tiekka, this was so personally relevant to me as I had a fall and broke my knee cap badly and now have a tension band surgically fitted. So permission to go gently but accurately aligned is great advise.

      Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about your knee! I hope you are feeling better and better! Yes, “gentle precision” is the way to go with most things and especially the knees. After all, we come to ballet for the joy. Happy knees are part of that, too! 🥰🙏🌸🩰

    Thank you so much for explaining this so well! I have two bad knees and one is very bad and I did some ballet exercises yesterday and my worse knee is making my whole tingling and now I know it might have been the grand plie 🥲

    I have severe joint hypermobility disorder. My knees bend backwards, now hyperextension can be beautiful but they go back way too far and it's really painful. Knee braces are my best friend when doing physical activity. You can find ones that blend in with your tights so they're almost invisible.

    • @everydayballet
      @everydayballet  10 месяцев назад +1

      It sounds like you need to be very thoughtful and take special care when doing any activity, but perhaps especially ballet… I’m glad you have braces that can help lessen the degree of your hypertension and support the knee a bit. Please move gently! 💕🩰🌸

    Love your videos and I'm so happy i found it. I'm 19 and in my country it's extremely rare and expensive to start ballet classes...so I am stuck with training myself from home...i hope one day to be better. Please i need your advice. I have a slight issue of knocked knees so my turnouts are not as I'd like and my knees and heels can't meet at the same time except I'm bend a little at the knees. They don't hurt if I move or anything, so I just wanted to know..if there's still hope for me to continue to train for ballet?

    • @everydayballet
      @everydayballet  2 года назад +1

      I’m so glad you found Everyday Ballet and that you’ve started ballet at home! 👏🏻👏🏻🥰 To answer your question… bring your heels as close together as you can and pull up through the legs instead of locking back in the knees. Keep drawing up through the thighs and kneecaps so your leg muscles work at all times instead of relaxing into hyper-extension. With time, your legs will be stronger and your knees will not lock backwards as much. This will help with the turnout, too! Yes, you can continue to train for ballet! Hope this helps! 🥰🩰✨
