Francesca Hayward, Yasmine Naghdi and Akane Takada can be considered the Royal Ballet's "rising stars". Natalia Osipova has been on the spotlight for a while now, considering she used to be a Bolshoi Prima. She's one of the most famous faces - if not THE most famous - in the company since 2014!
Saw her last night in Swan Lake at the ROH. She brought the house down. Great charisma. I am in no position to judge or compare her technique, as I have had no ballet education or training, but it looked pretty darned good to me.
@@gonefishing167 I saw her again a few days ago, in a small role in the Royal Ballet's production of The Dante Project at the ROH. And I'm seeing her in Giselle in November. Lucky me!
in my opinion, natalia is an outstanding dancer.in this the dying swan, she performed in different way, showing the swan was struggling with the death.it is very powerful.
I absolutely love this version. So intense, so emotional, so really like an animal in its last hours. For me it's one of the best, I've ever seen! Amazing that so many people seem to hate it. Well, I guess there's no accounting for tastes. What a beautiful, beautiful dancer!
Not amused with the use of "rising star" to describe Natalia as a dancer. She is well established in her career, very much respected in her community, and most beloved by ballet fans around the world. Natalia isn't a young, green ballerina by any stretch, and she has most certainly only added to the prestige accumulated by the Royal Ballet since its inception.
In the very original dance of 'The Dying Swan' Pavlova was not skinny like the ballet dancers of today, she was sort of plump which was fashionable at the time. Yet, Pavlova had something which is hard to obtain no matter how skilled of a dancer you may be. Pavlova was able to project her emotion into each dance, that is what made her a legendary dancer. Her version of 'Dying Swan' still brings me to tears because she danced like there was a real sense of the struggle between life and death (which in the end there was). Dancers like Lopatkina and Zakharova are excellent dancers in their own right and come very close to the portrayal of a dying swan. This dance is expressive, it doesn't matter your figure so long as you are able to convey the feeling and emotion. Osipova does this well, she has her own style. I think in the Ballet world, we need to remind ourselves to stop comparing one dancer to another, they are each individual and different, perfection is not in technique but in uniqueness.
How is Osipova a rising star in any context? She's already internationally renowned within the ballet community and was a Bolshoi prima. This is an insult to not just Osipova but the actual rising stars within The Royal Ballet.
Natalia Osipova is neither a "rising star" nor a young dancer !! She was a Prima in Bolshoi before joining the royal ballet , for years ! So no she isn't a "rising" star she is just a STAR! 💗
Rising Star? She IS the star not only in London, I'd say in the international ballet panorama. In my opinion she is the best Giselle,Kitri and certainly the best Odette/Odile I've ever seen, ever¡¡¡ I still remember a few years ago I saw her in Coppelia dancing in Moscow, really unique¡¡¡ It is a privilege to see her dancing these days swan lake in london, a privilege. lucky the ones got a ticket¡¡¡ I , unfortunately, woke up too late. all is sold out¡¡¡ :-( She is unique in everything she dances, as she is a real jewel. I'd say the diamond of the ballet world.
she's wonderful but she is alsoooo verrryyy lucky for the generation she was born in. there are not so good stars today. best kitri, Giselle, swan lake?... no please! search on RUclips how much difference with the stars of past/near past!
Natalia is a beautiful dancer, but her physique doesn’t really suit The Dying Swan... this ballet requires a very subtle fragility that I can’t see in Natalia. Lopatkina and Zakharova fit this role better, I’d say (but none of them surpass Plisetskaya, in my opinion). Natalia’s talent is much better explored in roles that enhance her athleticism and strength, especially her insane jumps and fouettés!
Plisetskaya physique is not even close to Lopaktina and Zakharova and she still one of the best dying swans. Trying new dancers and approaches does not hurt
P Pow no she is not the worst swan ever, it just her physical was not suit enough for dying swan, dying swan need a light physical. Natasha's physicals was a little muscular. she fever for athletic and requites lots of strength role. For example, Kitri from DQ. But her emotions at dying swan was beautiful and suit, it just only her physical
The thing about The Dying Swan is that it’s very open to the dancers interpretation so everyone is obviously going to be very different. I’m not the biggest fan of Natalia’s version from just what I’ve seen in this clip... I saw Svetlana perform this & it was so peaceful, like she was floating on water, no extra arms or head movements to distract. Probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
It was probably edited out after all of the backlash. I mean I do understand the criticism, but it seems like people are just trying to stir up more drama and be offended for someone else.
These RB practices are strange. RB records Natalia Osipova and on YT she gives only her rehearsals for the role, never performances on the stage. Sometimes there is a video with her role of Odille 'Swan Lake' - beautiful performance, but it is quickly removed. Natalia Osipova has long been the best ballerina in the World of Ballet, she is the only one who dances so beautifully. Natalia Osipova - very pretty, very shapely and very charming dancer.
I think that "rising star" refers to the fact that Zenaida has retired of stage (since 2017) and Osipova still has a long way to go. Don't believe is an insult to Osipova, russian ballet or whatever. Don't take it personal, haha, reading comments of offended people is so cringy.
Why are the comments here so hooked on fame and who is the greatest ballerina? It's just missing the point. All performers need a "human mirror" who will praise and criticise so that they can give their absolute best. Fortunately neither of the two is caught up in egotistical nonsense. That's what makes them both real artists at the top of their game.
Natalia es de esas artistas que cautiva más alla de la tecnica..es una artista que muchas que tiene mejor tecnica no tienen lo que ella sí..y aparte baila increible! Su entrega total en cada interpretación inspira mucho
GELSEY KIRKLANDs interpretation was regal, peaceful, resolved - not frantically fighting death. But the sadness of her dying swan was the most beautiful I have ever seen.
Why does the title or this begin with “THE,” instead of, “A”?!? As I’m sure the folks who put this together for the BEEB have excellent English compositional skills, so “THE” has a meaning we cannot overlook. Fortunately, _there are other excellent principal ballerinas with the Royal Ballet, many of whom I enjoy watching more than I do Osipova, who seems to think every single movement onstage must convey tremendous emotion. She initially tires me out, then I get bored.
Great dancer without a doubt. However, given how wide her feet are, I can’t see other thing other than how her point shoes don’t look “aligned” with the rest of her body lines.
Osipova doesn't have those beautiful lines (e.g. like Lopatkina or Zaharova) for the Dying Swan. As a result it's like smth is very wrong when you watch her dance it (imho). Due to the same reason her performance of Mehmene Banu in St.P. was not good.
Oh, I see)) I go for Lopatkina - I still remember when (for the first time) I saw her perform it - and it was like witnessing a miracle, the whole audience forgot how to breathe
I think lots of people nowadays have missed the point of Fokine’s Dying Swan all together. Please go back to watch the original footage of Pavlova, and what you’ll see is a complete different Swan of the one you’ve been used to see. The real theme of this pièce, is not about the grandeur of the Swan, but is about showing the struggle between life and death. In order to deliver that is required from the dancer a certain expressiveness, sensitivity, sensuality in the movement. This little gem of dance has all the characteristics of a Symbolism poem of Rimbaud, every gestures is a correspondence, each gesture has a colour, which needs to allude, express a range of feelings.

Osipova actually left Mariinsky because of the lack of repertoire. Yanowsky is a very accomplished dancer. To make assumptions and criticize another figure in the field is insulting. Leave your negativity at home.
