He already has. There's an episode when on Punk Hazard where Zoro has both eyes open with the scar 🎉

Zoro's closed eye is obviously a Mangekyou Sharingan.
If not that lol, I'd say he got the injury while training against Mihawk's apes, and that he will eventually lose his other eye as well (maybe against Mihawk!), making him a blind, powerful swordsman like Fujitora.

I'm guessing that you'd see his gross clouded over eyeball injury. It's not like he's just winking and got stuck... His eye has been slashed.

He doesn't want to reveal his sharingan he got from Itachi

I think it's pretty clear by the premonitions he now has while holding his eye etc and the fact that we're told it doesn't hinder him. that the injury was caused by Mihawk to train observation by denying him sight on his dominant side. He either no longer needs the eye at all, or more likely can open it when he wants to stop holding back in true Mihawk style.

My theory is a practical and comedic one. He got injured and lost it while fighting Mihawk ape mimic, but because it's been 2 years, the Starhats forgot that he had both his eyes prior to the separation, and so thats why they never ask him about it. They just think he has always been that way.

IF HE DID, HE CAN SEE WITH HIS BOTH EYES

The eye scar was surely a way for him to learn Observation Haki whilst having the worst sense of direction in the whole series (Hawk Eyes idea I reckon).

Is this the collection of the dumbest theories?

    My two guesses
One the creator of one piece wanted Zoro to be more badass and seriously looking thus over the two years of grueling training Zoro gets his eye cut.
Two it’s a handy cap that Zoro is placing on himself so that he grows quicker in order to keep up the with the enemies he is going to face.
Also keep in mind that Zoro out of all of the Strawhats represents the serious side of them the best.

Also as to why Zoro may have kept his eye shut during Wano is because he had two different swords that he was getting accustomed too. Considering what the second blade does Zoro may have been holding himself back until he has fully mastered the sword.

This has been a dumb idea since day 1. and him not doing so on Wano completely cemented the idea that is is just a training injury.
it doesn't make any sense to hold back anything on wano.

I mean it was never a dumb idea, it was literally taken from real life practices. Him not doing so on Wano makes perfect sense. He thought of king as his beast equivalent. How can he become the greatest swordsman in the world if he has to go all out against this inferior version who refuses to even call himself a swordsman? How can he go all out on that guy and still say he's gonna be the best? How can he go all out on Kaido and take the fight from Luffy and look him in the eye, and tell him he's going to be the pirate king when they both know it's zoro who won that fight? It wouldn't just be out of character, it'd break the entire narrative if Zoro wouldn't hold back in these fights.
And for more evidence look at egghead for a recent example but not the first time it's happened. Zoro has a premonition, wakes up clutching specifically that eye, or holding it closed perhaps. It's pretty obvious that the eye is more than just an injury when you consider that this was done during training with an observation haki specialist who believes in holding yourself back in a fight. Man came away with an injury to his dominant side that holds him back in a fight and comes with premonitions that are obiously observation and you can't see how that might be part of training and not a result of a training mishap.

I think this video would be better if it was faster and if it wasn’t all complete speculation… I didn’t watch much but people that would watch already know a lot about zoro so what is super cool about zoro that we didn’t notice that proves a theory you might have about the left eye?
