I’m a camper and I think it’s so crazy there is all age groups at one camp! But I also understand why, the only reason why I think it’s crazy is cause I only go to camp for one week and a huge group of kids your age come to camp to and then you split into like 14 ish girl cabins and 14 ish boy cabins. It’s so fun! I can’t wait it go this summer!!!

When do the camps start is there a set date that you have to go? I’m a teaching assistant and would love to do this but UK summer holidays are completely different to America’s and my summer holidays don’t start until mid July

A lot of camps do have flexible start dates, at my camp we have to be there by the middle of June. It’s always worth calling one of the agencies and asking if they have any camps that start later into july!

any advice to those who want to go general counsellor route to stand out? Struggling to think when only having basic childcare experience and then you’re going against probably thousands of other people going for the same role

Honestly just be yourself and go into as much detail when explaining your experience working with kids and your passion for working at a summer camp! I would try and reach out to camps direct and fill out an application online as you’ll be ahead of everyone else waiting for an agency to place them!

Hi I’m training to become a gymnastics coach here and am looking to do Camp America in 2 years and I was wondering if you could go a bit more in-depth into the gymnastics side of camp and wether or not a British Gymnastics qualification would be taken into consideration when applying. Also is there any camps you would specifically recommend for gymnastics?

Hey!!! I’m qualified as a BG level 2 womens artistic coach, the experience and qualifications are obviously useful just for your own knowledge at camp. It’s definitely not required as some of the girls that have worked with me at gymnastics weren’t qualified but had a background in gymnastics x

@@tato2090 Omg. I thought it was a camp this entire time 😂😭 what’s the point of an agency? Does it just own all the camps or smth?

    • @tato2090

@@beatricemayer3700 the agency helps match you with the camps you may be best suited for! It’s also more convenient to get things like your visa and other papers all through one place
