What’s up guys and gals, I’m Kage848. I love to make videos for RUclips, mostly early access survival games like 7 Days to Die, Empyrion, Raft, Mist Survival, The Forest, and more! I also dabble in City Builders and strategy games like Civilization 5, Civilization 6, Dawn of Man, Stonehearth, Factorio and Rim World. I do at least two videos everyday of mainly tutorials, let’s plays and general gameplay footage. Thanks for watching my videos.

When you raise the ground, you can aim at the corner of one of your raised "pillars" and click once using the "raise ground" setting to get the ground next to it at the same height, instead of starting from the ground again and wasting a lot more stone. Like so people can see this!

    • @dra6o0n
      @dra6o0n 3 года назад

It's not useful for making bridges across the waters, apparently there is a max height in oceans that is hard to pull off unless you use cheats to go under water, even then can't raise ground if the water blocks the camera (literally your camera glitches out if you fly under the water and tried to mine or raise ground).
A stack of 40 stone is enough to make a 10m wall of raised ground if a pillar is already made. You could even make a plateau.

Weird stuff started happening in Valheim for me after 1 year in game. Goblins spawning in different areas like on top of mountains, massive packs of wolves and drakes. So I decided to just move to a huge plains area. Raise ground around the area with a shit ton of stone and make a castle. Portals seems to stop spawning but from what me and friends have experienced after 200 hours. Putting workbenches down doesn't stop goblins spawning. Raise a small wall around the shore get a portal down and cultivate the land. Then just keep farming stone and get your plains castle.

You don't really need a moat if you take worktables and raise ground really high up and place them all around your base. The range they cover disallow mobs to spawn near them.
Monsters only spawns outside the vicinity of players in active cells on the map, so the bigger the border of despawners, the safer it is.
It's basically like littering lots and lots of torches on the map to respawn mobs in Minecraft.

You can put the spiked walls along the edge to catch any bigger mobs that may glitch across the moat gap. Also be warned you can get assaulted by wyverns layer on as you beat more boss's.
I still would recommend making a home base on a map that has no boss's delt with, the enemy swarms that attack are based on the boss's you beat and mounted on the stones. No boss's just has forest animals attack, simple enough and they are repelled by simple standing torches as they still fear fire. I have 1-2 standing torches on each side of my base (its 8 wide and 12 long, standing torches seem to have a very large range to them) and the animals rush in, get close, then flee in fear from the fire. Rather amusing to watch. Use another world for boss fights and gathering items that only spawn after boss's are downed. Found this out the very hard way and opted to make a new world with no intent to beat any boss's in it and relocate the base there.

I don’t recommend putting water in the moat. When you kill mobs they can’t get knocked in and when you kill mobs near the moat their loot gets knocked in. Plus if you build then destroy near the moat your stuff can fall in moat. If it is filled with water you have limited time based on your stamina to rescue yourself. I put a ladder in my moat and kept it pretty dry. I saw you placing stakes. That is a great idea. Just remember when they hit a mob or you they take tons of damage and need to be repaired a lot.

Say, you know I really like this game. Unfortunately, I am 76 and I love playing games like this. However, I am lousy. Especially when it come to beating the bosses. Do you all think that this game would be a good fit for me or should I pass on it?

give it a shot bosses arent all that hard if your prepared properly, you can always watch a guide for the easiest way to kill them. and goodluck should you decide to buy and have fun.

I got to level 41 woodcutting and 20 hours in without even doing the first boss(though you will have to finish him to get the pickaxe and the more fun items for your home)...but I like these games just as much as for the building aspect as much as(if not more than) the raiding gameplay. And this games building features are fun.
Even resource gathering of the lumber is fun cause you can weaken a bunch of trees in a clustered area(chop them four times each). Then knock one tree down and it'll fall and hit the weakend trees and knock THEM down causing a cascade of falling trees that CAN AND MAY kill you if they hit you...it's like Russian roulette meets pickup sticks. As a bonus, the trees falling on other trees that have already fallen and will smash them up into the wood sometimes, so less chopping work. Also the physics is fun because the trees will roll away to a degree if they are on a hill after being knocked down and float away from you if they get into the water
If you die there is no real punishment as there is a marker on the map of where you died, so just a little jog to go get all your stuff back with a negligible penalty to your stats bar(just don't die again getting it back).. also...you can place your own markers on the map as you explore your world. I highlighted every berry bush, ruin, and dungeon, whilst naming them, and over time when you look at your map you've essentially created a world with landmarks and badass names you've made up of stuff you did there( ie. The place where the first boar that killed me I decided to call it Boar Gorge Meadows).
The monsters at the start are hard until they are easy(basically you learn dying is more about your stamina than it is your health...and you'll really need to learn to parry with your shield or weapon by timing your block right before they attack. This will stun them for a second and let you do more damage to them but the blocking and attacking will eat away stamina), so learning how important food is because of its effects on how much health and stamina you get, as much as the armour and weapons you can make is just as important (that was why I marked every berry bush I came upon so I can keep harvesting from them, but you can't starve if you don't eat, it just causes you to have the lowest health and stamina)... the shield becomes a must...and the bow is intuitive enough to be learnable and a hoot when you get far shots or just shoot your first bird
It hits all the best notes for me for what I want in a game. You feel on edge walking through the black forest and other harder biomes, not to mention the first time you see a troll towering over you... And getting the resources doesn't feel as much of a chore because of the physics of the game and the beautiful design they have
The one and only negative is the weather is too wild and fast and it makes it a dark game...so eyesight might be a hindrance if you have trouble seeing.
And don't cheat code for every new item or even let other players give you items(it'll unlock all the recipes for the item if it's new to you)..., the fun in this game is the slow progression of learning. Watching streamers after they get everything unlocked for them without earning it you just watch them go from careful excited encounters and wondrous attempts at figuring stuff out to just bash bash bash, eat soup and sausages, got resources...now what...get more resources or farm bosses or swamps for resources ad nauseum...but get it if you like the type of game for sure...it's at a cheap, cheapcheapcheap $25 and worth more than any AAA game that's come out lately...and it's only Alpha, the devs have more biomes coming out and are still gonna do a ton more for it so well worth a 1/3rd the cost of the AAAs

Looks like you need to ask the developer about angled floor pieces.
If you could have planned it all out it would look cool if you did the palisade wall on the outside and then a walkway with interior wall pieces on the inside .

There is a water lever that is equal across the entire map. No matter where you build if you get to a certain dept you hit the water. Obviously the higher up you go, the longer it takes to get to that level but it is there across the entire map at exactly the same elevation.

I'm digging the base, Kage. It's the least boxy thing you've built. Maybe now for a little height variety, add a 3-4 tall thin watchtower, either connected or separate from the main base. Could be practical, but I just think it would add some texture and look cool.

  • @toddabbott781

About time. I figured with your OCD you would level the whole area and rebuild the building too. Yo really need to increase you comfort level and when you are base building and well rested end just go an sit in you comfort zone for 20 seconds to regain your well rested bonus. I think based on you technologies you can have a fireplace, bed, deer rug, banner, table, and straight back chair for 16 comfort. Hearth, brazier, wolf rug, lox rug, dragon bed, and raven chair can bring you to 24. Also upgrade your troll armor and learn to do sneak attacks. You might try a bronze knife too as they do 10x sneak damage.
