Haven’t watched yet but saw an interesting mock yesterday. It went as such 1. Zacc 2. Sarr 3. Reed 4. Castle 5. Matus 6. Trading the pick to the grizzlies for #9 and a future first. Grizz took Clingman and hornets scooped up Dalton at 9… Thoughts if the draft went down like this?
If the draft falls this way, my worst case scenario would be not capitalizing on the alleged interest of teams like San Antonio, Memphis and OKC in Clingan. You take some package from one of those teams, move back and take the best of Dalton, Holland, Cody Williams and accumulate assets. Unless you really think Dalton is *that* much better than these other wings. OKC and SA are pick rich for any deal, and Memphis has a crowded bench of guys who could upgrade Charlotte's roster.
There are a few different ways this could go “right” for the Hornets. I wouldn’t be upset those ways. One thing I will get upset about is if we trade down and pull another Jalen Duran bs trade on draft night. New faces in the front office, only with Steve and Mitch advising them. 🤞
Clingan at 6 comes in and gives you what Richards did with improved defense. Flip Richard’s bc of production and super team friendly contract for future assets or a position of need bench player
The worse thing we can do is sit still. Id want to move back and take someone like(Memphis potentially) Cody Williams or move up for reed. But to stay stationary is the worst thing we could do with this draft class its top 3 or its a wash anyways.
I'm intrigued by reed shepard, and ill be curious to see how his career turns out, but I think Im on the no shorties train, as well. Especially, NO TRADE UPS for shorties (or anyone in this draft). Go Hornets!
If they're drafting, let them go off the two parameters of: 1) High Basketball IQ 2)Passion/Aggression/mamba mentality. These two ingredients always is a sure bet.
Always enjoy the content. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what happens with the draft. Maybe Clifford and Kupchak will become like Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show and sit up in a box expressing their opinions.
Hornets should draft Donovan Clingan with the 6th. He rebounds as well as mark williams. He has a post game witch mark williams still doesn't have. He has a potential 3 point range jump shot, witch Also mark doesn't have. And most Underrated of all.. He Has the passing gift. Witch Mark will never have. I think he is the right pick for there future. Big man that can pass dont grow on trees... Pack up mark with Bridges and get some draft capital for the next few years. Hornets need a defensive identity....
If clingan is still available we should honestly trade down a few spots and take cody williams, knecht etc. 6th pick for 9th and gg Jackson? Wishful thinking 😂
Did you Kevin Pelton's statistical prospect ranking? Dalton missed the top 30... Cody Barely made it. Reed 1, Clingan 2, Risacher 7, Castle 10.. I bet all 4 gone by 6. We should TRADE BACK... Richaun Salaun or Jakobe Walter or Tyler Smith or Kyshawn George. That's where I'm at now.
I've thought this through and I strongly suspect we'll look back in a decade and realize that Zach Edey was the best player in this draft and everyone is going to be asking themselves how they missed it. I understand why the Hornets aren't looking at him, but I definitely think Edey is the better pick than Clingan. People tend to fall into group think about how "the modern NBA" is played and don't step back and consider why that is (high percentage 3 point shooting is an efficient form of basketball), consider why the old school style of NBA was succesful back in it's day (even higher percentage inside 2 point shooting by big men that tend to get fouled and shoot a high percentage from the free throw line is also an efficient form of basketball) and consider how the game can evolve. I predict Zach Edey is going to take his efficient form of basketball somewhere and that team is going to win with it.
Totally fine with dalton at 6, if that's how it shakes out. I'd be fine with about 10 prospects at 6 and a few more with a slight trade back, and I have no idea which one(s) will hit. So, not too worried or adamant about drafting any particular player in that group, but I personally would prefer someone who plays significant minites year one, and Id prefer to go with length and size even though I'd be excited to see what reed can (or cant) do if we get him.
Speaking of Hornets 2nd round pick, I feel they'll draw from the pool of those that have worked out for them. Below is the updated list of those thatve have come in. Included are both 1st & 2nd round prospects/ranked and no ranked players. Charlotte Hornets The known list of players to have worked out with the Hornets: Max Abmas, Texas DJ Burns Jr., NC State Tyler Burton, Richmond Matas Buzelis, G League Ignite Branden Carlson, Utah Stephon Castle, UConn Kevin Cross, Tulane Marcus Domask, Illinois Jesse Edwards, West Virginia Tristan Enaruna, Cleveland State Allen Flanigan, Mississippi Trentyn Flowers, Adelaide 36ers (NBL) Malik Hall, Michigan State PJ Hall, Clemson Blake Hinson, Pitt Ron Holland, G League Ignite DJ Horne, NC State DJ Jeffries, Mississippi State Dillon Jones, Weber State Dalton Knecht, Tennessee Malevy Leons, Bradley Riley Minix, Morehead State Josh Oduro, Providence Drew Pember, UNC Asheville Cam Spencer, UConn Reed Sheppard, Kentucky Ja’Kobe Walter, Baylor Cody Williams, Colorado Jaylin Williams, Auburn Jahmir Young, Maryland
There really hasn't been a good G league player drafted yet other than kuminga and green with both took a while to get to decent. Theres a good reason the ignite has been shut down lol
@@Original_Brute_Force yeah, there is. But this is an explosive 18 yo who has played against men , who can defend and who can get to the rim. go for the high ceiling. just imho.
@jshanni2066 scoot Henderson 2.0 😉 the g league doesn't have the talent. If the mvp of the league can't get into the nba it's really telling of the level of competition they are playing against. Doesn't mean he won't eventually turn into a serviceable nba player just at this time college skills seem to translate more.

Perfect
If we get Knecht he MUST wear number 4, we cannot miss this opportunity to call him Knecht 4!!!
And I know Nick Richards wears it right now, he better give it up

Let’s go connect with Knecht
BPA Clingan and add deep to the center position, Mark could be Hurt and we have only 1 medíocre reserve

HOR SHOULD just select size and talent
Matas Cody Holland Dalton
Currently heavy on guards go BIGMAN

How about cody williams 6'8, 42 pct from deep in college add this and CH are awsome
Let's make the Knecht-ion
Eric Collins would have a field day.
I like it !
No Shorties Wagon ! Everyone hop on

Cody Williams paired with Melo and Brandon Miller. The length of that defense would be great to watch.

I thought I was the only one. I would take GG Jackson over any of this draft picks
To bad they won’t be trading gg
Trade for GG Jackson in Memphis

I want Buzelis
Totally fine with dalton at 6, if that's how it shakes out.

"worst case" with a picture of Knecht instead of Sheppard = 🤡
Clingan should be the pick in this scenario
Im cool with Castle, Knecht, Cody Williams. We need size on the wing.
If buzelis is available they have to take him ceiling higher than the rest and the size is needed especially if miles leaves
@David Walker I want that hat!

I LOVE Knecht for Charlotte
I've been thinking the same thing about Bronny. Force the Lakers to trade for him.
Carter over Knect
Trade down. Get Holland.
There really hasn't been a good G league player drafted yet other than kuminga and green with both took a while to get to decent. Theres a good reason the ignite has been shut down lol

If we cant get Shepard or Castle, why not trade down and pick up Holland or Carter?
Yep, Melvin Ajinca is related to Alexis…I’m good
Devon Carter will be a better pro then Dalton K by far
for the record Melvin Ajinça is Alexis's cousin
Lets get DJ Burns!
LETS GOOOOOOO DRAFTTTTT
