It was my pair of 1977 Bali adidas used to make the reissues They belonged at the time to my good mate and fellow legendary collector Bobby Mac Dassler. They didn’t have a pair of original to hand so mine was used using photographs from every conceivable angle not the first time Adidas used pairs I own to make templates for reissues they also used a pair of my Austrian Jeans from 1983.

The prime reason Bali are elusive is they are the contrasted blue version of the upgraded 1977 version of Hawai (Hawaii) also manufactured in France. Whereas Hawaii were widely available in UK shops the Bali were under contract by Keighley based Peter Blacks for mail order distribution. There are three variations of the Bali the 1977 to 1979 (Art Code AD 1065) have the V shaped toe strip the 1980/81 have the T Toe styling when the Hawaii were remodelled.The blue variant were discontinued and a totally remodelled version of the Bali in 1982/83 (Art Code AD 1426) which came in Dark Grey and Golden Brown in a similar style to the Bahamas. As for pairs known to exist there are not many but certainly more than two I know four who own the blue version and another who owns the brown version of Bali
