This provokes the exact pain/tightness I’m feeling when I’m stretching for the side splits. I’m generally flexible, but the centre splits just isn’t happening. This exercise be worth working on!
Thank you Sir... I found this exercise from another video, but your detailed explanation has been phenomenal. I'm fixing my hip/groin complex with this exercise.
It's as if you felt that I needed this, cause since this week im determined to work my flexibility again for martial arts purposes. Thank you! I've been following you for years now, great to see you make all dem gains and achievements. Keep it UP!
This is not just a one more video on youtube in terms of fitness, this is a fucking ART of knowledge, experience, performance, editing. That's what encouraging me to push smarter&harder every single day!!
This is a great way to ease into the position. I would assume a similar progression could be used for the front splits - just gradually widening the stance by extending the knees and flexing the front hip/extending the rear hip.
Wow man your videos are unique and different from all the body weight videos on youtube ! And they look so functional for every day lives improvements. Good job . Subscribed :D
Great video man, I was glad that you mentioned the toe/foot position relative to knee pain. If you have flat feet and keep the foot pointed forward the knees will get blown out for sure. Your mad on point dude. Peace bro
Awesome vid. Instructions are clear and I was able to perform the stance safely, First time I felt my inner thighs open and have any pain after. Nice 1 Daniel!
Hey man love your videos. Could u show us a whole lower body bodyweight workout highlight reel? Such as pistol squats, single leg bodyweight RDLs and any more exercises u know. I think some of the advanced bodyweight leg exercises especially single leg ones can be just as effective and challenging as the weighted ones like back squats etc. Would really like to see u attempt those bodyweight leg exercises
This movement is literally the solution to everyone's chronic sitting hip, glute, and pelvic floor deficiencies, sending our core into mayhem and possibly prostate cancer. I'm jumping back on the HS TRAIN 🐎🐎🐎🚂🚂🚂
Daniel, you are such a man for showing up split techniques. I always feel awkward shooting stretching videos on my channel, even though I love stretching. I'm excited to progress with this technique you shared here. I have never seen the horse stance before haha. Great stuff as always. Keep up the good work.
+FitnessFAQs can you make a similar video for hamstring flexibility or give some info, how can i have hamstring rom that doesn't require too much warm up
nice tutorial...sick of serching for flexibility videos where they just pop into a side split and are like " yeh...so thats a side split....ehhh like and subscribe" haa
Another great tutorial from this great channel! I would like to see even more flexibility and mobility tutorials by you man! Thank you for your work and keep it up! :))
What I noticed here is that he doesnt have the biggest bone structure. Especially when he does the side view you see how small his ankles are and the natural slimness of his lowerleg. Yet, he is still able to pack on so much lean mass and strength. Its incredible.
It's a really weird excercise but it seemed super effective, for some reason I only get adrenalin from working muscles I haven't worked very much before.
Will this help me with my pancake? And what about active compression for straddle press handstand? Cause I'm lacking flexibility in my hips and harmstrings. Great structure as always, Daniel.
Hey man great video! One question though, when doing the horse stance would it be holding that position or going up & down?? I was a bit confused...anyways thanks for the vid!
Awesome vid man. Wearing shorts with those muscular legs give a lot of information about the angles and strength you're using. Thanks for that. You forgot to do the part where you go down into steps 6,7,8, all the way into the splits :P ....Great stuff though, helps a lot!
Even when I rotate my hips while trying to sink into a deep enough horse stance, it hurts my thighs. Do I just lack the hip flexibility needed or is that normal early on? I have tried Thomas Kurz's one-legged chair stretch to test for side split flexibility and as far as I can tell, I pass the test, so my hips should have the normal range of motion to achieve it.
Thanks for your videos Daniel - I discovered your channel by accident when looking for some good stretches and exercises to help with my flexibility with my martial arts and have ended up using some of your workouts for own strength training. I really like all the technical and scientific explanations you give. If you get a chance, can you do something to help with knee strengthening? Things just haven't been the same down there since I tore both my calves on separate ocassions last year. Cheers, Joe
A couple months ago, I created a follow-along video (full warm up and 3x1min horse stance holds) for the horse-stance month that I hosted on r/flexibility. Check it out and just incorporate it into your routine! ruclips.net/video/kXWtk3NLESk/видео.html
Would you do this the day after lower body weight lifting day? I don't usually get too sore but I feel like 6 times a week of doing stretching for the side and front splits might not be beneficial. I would have thought 4 to 5 times a week would have been the recommendation rather than 6 such as Yiannis C says. What do you Think?
OG fitness channel. You've been around before the TMW's, TigerFitness, etc, you need more subs. You ever thought about collabing with a bigger channels?
I stop working out for awhile due to work .. Pull ups push ups squats crunch etc ..how do I safety get back into a routine without injuring myself I know I fell off on my reps whats a good way to get back Into a routine ?
Out of curiosity on anatomy and physiology, how does the horse stance help achieve middle splits? Every other video is about stretching, this one needs more strength than flexibility
you need strength to avoid a potential injury. sure you can stretch, but what if you push too hard and get injured cause your muscles are weak? but if your muscles are strong you won't get injured so easily if you push harder on stretching.
+noybrw You need only two stretches for each muscle group. Keep in mind that stretching without strengthening first the abs/back and then the hips and legs can lead to serious issues.
I practiced karate as a kid for like 7 years, but my hip opening never really improved. It feel like stuck around the neck of my femur. I wonder if it's normal or if my morphology just don't allow me to... My legs muscles are short though, I can't touch my toes, it hurts behind the knees. Same thing, my karate training never made a difference, maybe I just need to train harder.
muscle shortens because of inner resistance. try to visualise first expanding your limbs out without limits (in your mind) very softly and very relaxe. keep that image in mind when you actually do the splits4. "release your form release your mind" peace
As soon as my thighs reach parallel my groin gives out due to weakness. How can I make it easier? If I hold on to something with my arms, I'm afraid to help too much. :[

Love the systematic way you present the way to reach the target! Brilliant!
This is a great way to ease into the position. I would assume a similar progression could be used for the front splits - just gradually widening the stance by extending the knees and flexing the front hip/extending the rear hip.
Knees over toes guy does front splits easy. He does a fair bit of hip flexor exercises, woner what else helps..

Great video, helps with getting the right hip alignment for side split.
bhgtree Awesome. Glad you liked it.
+FitnessFAQs can you make a similar video for hamstring flexibility or give some info, how can i have hamstring rom that doesn't require too much warm up
that is some serious strength. power to weight ration of a hyper car!

Great tutorial , this takes a lot of strength
Try horse stance good mornings as a great hip mobility exercise.

did you study ving tsun? I notice you found your horse stance at 1:20 the same way I was taught from David Peterson when I used to study in Melbourne.
This is the method prescribed by Thomas Kurz
correct
Thanks Dan, where have you learned this?
Great exercise
Great tutorial. Do you have any tips for achieving front splits? Thank you!
Stick is good for control ur position!😉
My hips are insanely tight and I will defiantly add this into my work
FitnessFAQs Hey daniel, a weighted chin up routine would be awesome.:)
Thank you,useful information
Is having the knees over the feet something to aim for?
Hey man great video! One question though, when doing the horse stance would it be holding that position or going up & down?? I was a bit confused...anyways thanks for the vid!
terrorbladetai Isometric holds. Work the movement dynamically with load when ready.

Nice motivation👍
Great video as usual bro. How's the wrist feeling? Hope to see you back to full superhuman mode instead of just regular beastmode.

Hey Daniel how long did it take you to master the side split?
Lorenzo Lim Yeah I want to know it too
Lorenzo Lim Plis daniel goobiiii
He actually never mastered the side split and never will. His monstercočk will always assist him. even between a elevation.
If you’re starting from square one, it will take around a year typically.
Thanks for your videos Daniel - I discovered your channel by accident when looking for some good stretches and exercises to help with my flexibility with my martial arts and have ended up using some of your workouts for own strength training. can you make a video for quads and calves
Hey danny, i like your long sleeves. where can i get me one of those?
We need some routines...............................................

with train is everyone able to do splits?
Great Video btw :)

Have sij pain and adductor pain on same side. Is this a good idea? Physio friends said tightness soreness a sogn of weakness so i guess yes.
Could you explain what will be the difference if i am training this with ppt instead of apt?
And also what's your preferred form of progression for the side split eg. Frequency, set, reps?
Nothing's easy... if it is then everybody can do it!
Holy shit, this a lot harder than I thought it would be
OG fitness channel. You've been around before the TMW's, TigerFitness, etc, you need more subs. You ever thought about collabing with a bigger channels?
hmm....secret you say?...get side splits you say?....im listening ^^
What are your recommendations for improving the pike? Or do you already have a video on this? Thanks.
I stop working out for awhile due to work .. Pull ups push ups squats crunch etc ..how do I safety get back into a routine without injuring myself I know I fell off on my reps whats a good way to get back Into a routine ?

ey man! u think is possible to achieve side splits just training horse stance iso/dinamic?
Lol that face when the stick rolls off....
I have anterior pelvic tilt, should I do this?
Another question your legs are pretty built how much vert can you achieve in inches ? Or even feet?
Are there any workout for neck ? For to have wide neck ?
Can you achieve the side split just through horse stance progressions? Or do you need to do other flexibility/mobility exercises as well?
+noybrw You need only two stretches for each muscle group. Keep in mind that stretching without strengthening first the abs/back and then the hips and legs can lead to serious issues.
What's the equivalent of the horse stance for front splits?
Nice horsecock tutorial!
Another Thomas Kurz student. Search Thomas Kurz if you want to see the master
Daniel,my knees going in when I do squat ,what to do ?
How many times per week? Daily?
Would it be a silly idea to train both horse stance AND middle splits (say, 3 sets of each) in the same session?
no. it will be better if you add it in your routine.
I practiced karate as a kid for like 7 years, but my hip opening never really improved. It feel like stuck around the neck of my femur. I wonder if it's normal or if my morphology just don't allow me to...

Hi mate is there any way of sending you a pm? desperately need your help.
ı dont know how you succeed keep stick in your belly?
