    This provokes the exact pain/tightness I’m feeling when I’m stretching for the side splits. I’m generally flexible, but the centre splits just isn’t happening. This exercise be worth working on!

    This is a great way to ease into the position. I would assume a similar progression could be used for the front splits - just gradually widening the stance by extending the knees and flexing the front hip/extending the rear hip.

    Hey man love your videos. Could u show us a whole lower body bodyweight workout highlight reel? Such as pistol squats, single leg bodyweight RDLs and any more exercises u know. I think some of the advanced bodyweight leg exercises especially single leg ones can be just as effective and challenging as the weighted ones like back squats etc. Would really like to see u attempt those bodyweight leg exercises

    Even when I rotate my hips while trying to sink into a deep enough horse stance, it hurts my thighs. Do I just lack the hip flexibility needed or is that normal early on? I have tried Thomas Kurz's one-legged chair stretch to test for side split flexibility and as far as I can tell, I pass the test, so my hips should have the normal range of motion to achieve it.

    Thanks for your videos Daniel - I discovered your channel by accident when looking for some good stretches and exercises to help with my flexibility with my martial arts and have ended up using some of your workouts for own strength training. I really like all the technical and scientific explanations you give. If you get a chance, can you do something to help with knee strengthening? Things just haven't been the same down there since I tore both my calves on separate ocassions last year. Cheers, Joe

    Would you do this the day after lower body weight lifting day? I don't usually get too sore but I feel like 6 times a week of doing stretching for the side and front splits might not be beneficial. I would have thought 4 to 5 times a week would have been the recommendation rather than 6 such as Yiannis C says. What do you Think?

    Out of curiosity on anatomy and physiology, how does the horse stance help achieve middle splits? Every other video is about stretching, this one needs more strength than flexibility

    • @TassadarGR
      @TassadarGR 3 года назад

      you need strength to avoid a potential injury. sure you can stretch, but what if you push too hard and get injured cause your muscles are weak? but if your muscles are strong you won't get injured so easily if you push harder on stretching.

      +noybrw You need only two stretches for each muscle group. Keep in mind that stretching without strengthening first the abs/back and then the hips and legs can lead to serious issues.

    I practiced karate as a kid for like 7 years, but my hip opening never really improved. It feel like stuck around the neck of my femur. I wonder if it's normal or if my morphology just don't allow me to...
    My legs muscles are short though, I can't touch my toes, it hurts behind the knees. Same thing, my karate training never made a difference, maybe I just need to train harder.

    • @buzifalus
      @buzifalus 8 лет назад

      muscle shortens because of inner resistance. try to visualise first expanding your limbs out without limits (in your mind) very softly and very relaxe. keep that image in mind when you actually do the splits4. "release your form release your mind" peace
