  • Our plans for a nice week of exploring and enjoying Lake Tahoe drastically changed in a matter of hours. As we made our way from Northern California to Lake Tahoe the Caldor fire intensified and left us driving through what feels like an eerie war zone. The air quality levels are as bad as they can get and we have to hurry and leave the area before the fire encroaches any further towards us and before any more roads close...

    I drove a few thousand miles with that those of mirrors, I found some appropriate bungee cords to reinforce the rubber straps kept them in place even on roads that rattled our teeth and driving faster than I should have. Water leaks are the enemy of RVs fix them, warranty work could sideline your trailer longer than you think. Check out Steve Lehto’s videos on RV’s warning they may depress you.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад

      Oh good to know, we are definitely looking into other solutions for the mirrors lol 😆 and yes the water leak was such a bummer, I’m just super happy it was minor and that we were in a ridiculously dry place!!

    Hi, I have enjoyed your adventures since you began posting on Encore. I’m British and have an RV in Spain and have occasionally had a water leak when filling- as you said I found the clamp between the inlet hose and tank could leak so put a couple of plastic zip ties around which helps but also find when using a hose pipe if I put the hose far enough into the filler tube that it goes into the tank I don’t get a leak. Enjoy your further adventures.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад

      Awesome thank you for the tips I appreciate it!! Ahh Spain is stunning! I (Natalie) lived in Spain for a while studying abroad in Sevilla! I loved traveling all over Spain and hope to travel around there again in the future, maybe even rv there!!

    Good thing you got to see it before it burned. The whole 50 corridor doesn't look the same. Spent 3 weeks on the Caldor, and it's still got sections burning.

      Unfortunately we really didn’t get to on this trip, Natalie has been to Tahoe but Tj hasn’t :/ we were bummed to not be able to enjoy it this time but hopefully we can get back there soon to see some areas that escaped the fire. Fixing things yourself, that you are able to fix, does not void your warranty. In fact there is a federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) that specifically prohibits manufacturers from doing that. RV dealers make it so inconvenient to get warranty work done, that I've always done all my own repairs.

    • @adventures

    assume this was filmed several weeks ago. those same fires in N Ca and PNW also made the sky very smoky here in Colorado, from smoke drifting this way.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  3 года назад

      Yes this was a few weeks ago, we are always a few weeks behind because we often go to areas without service so we have to have content and videos ready a few weeks ahead of time :) and yes we heard from friends that Colorado got very smoky also. Yikes, such a bad fire year for the west coast

    Hey Natalie and TJ. Another great video. Can I request that if you fly somewhere you do some little bit of video. LIke a shot of the fires. Also a shot of the safety card. That lets us/me know what type of plane you're on. I'm a retired airline pilot and love anything flying. And it goes with your adventures channel! :) TJ try Bacarat when gambling. It's the game James Bond plays. My wife taught me. It's the only game that has 50/50 odds. You're betting whether the Player or Bank wins. That's it. And it goes in streaks in a row. When that happens is when you can make serious bank. My wife and I eloped to Vegas, payed for all of it and came home with $1000 extra after playing while there. It's the only thing I'll play except sports. It's the best chances you have to win. FYI!

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад

      Awesome glad you enjoyed the video and yes we can make sure to do that in the future. Stay tuned for one of the next episodes it will have some beautiful airplane views 😍 and I will tell Tj to try out that when gambling and heck yeah nicely done with the winnings!

    Sadly, buying a camper made in the last few years is a big gamble. The quality is awful. And, getting in to have the work done is almost impossible. Water damage is the worst. I hope you got it fixed and didn't have a hassle. That smoke made its way across the US and we were choking on it all the way in North Dakota. For weeks it felt like the apocalypse! Turns out whether you are a sailor or a camper you are at the mercy of Mother Nature and the Wind.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  3 года назад +1

      Yes we have heard and read all about the issues coming out of the factory. We knew it was a gamble but wanted one new so that there was no mold hidden in the walls and now we have water inside 🙈 thankfully it was VERY dry in Tahoe so everything dried really quickly. Yikes all the way to N Dakota! That’s crazy! It was a big bad fire for sure :/

  • @jwyzdm

    Great video and glad you stayed safe through it all. The sad part is that most of those fires are preventable if Ca. would just use proper forest management, cutting down trees would not cause the world to end. Was out there in the late 70's and there were fires, you would think they would learn.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад

      We are glad too! We’ve never been in such thick smoke for such a long period of time, it was crazy!! And yes hopefully someday soon they will, I don’t want all of these beautiful places to burn 😢 it’s sad!

    Love the videos. like a stroll down memory lane. I struggled with mirrors as well, I had those same mirrors but they vibrated and made them difficult to see out of, there is a car specific option that works best, kind of pricey though.
    You guys should check out southern Utah ,Moab is really cool and the Grand canyon. surprised your thinking about skipping it in favor of southern Colorado?

    • @adventures
      @adventures  3 года назад +1

      The mirrors are horrible!! Lol 😂 we will need to figure out a better option in the future for sure! We love Moab and southern Utah but when we were recording this is was still about 100 degrees in those areas which is way too hot for boondocking for us! We will head that way when there is cooler weather :) glad you enjoyed the video!

    • @jeffro43ify
      @jeffro43ify 2 года назад

      @@adventures keep in mind those are the high temps and it's a very dry heat there.
      There is all kinds of terrain in southern Utah high elevations as well as desert and everything in between.
      Don't let the temperature discourage you, I have never regretted going down there not just Moab, there is thousands of places down there.

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад

      That may be true but we don’t really like it when it’s above 75 degrees, we are cold weather people! We have explored Moab a lot in the past and other parts of Utah but will be back when it’s cooler for sure!

    Tightening a hose clamp is going to void the warranty?

    • @adventures
      @adventures  3 года назад

  • @raylenehansen9667
    @raylenehansen9667 3 года назад +1

    Also you're not voiding the warranty by fixing things yourself. EVERY rv will have problems, might be good to join a facebook group of the model you own

    • @adventures
      @adventures  2 года назад +1

      I’ve just read on numerous Facebook groups that people have voided their warranty by tackling projects on their own and that’s the last thing I want to do. Better safe than sorry!
