@@simpsimpson5175 - Thanks for the tip. At what point - of ever - does it stop being heresy to say that people can eventually become even greater than the previous legends even as it's always acknowledged that they stand on the shoulders of those that came before? But it's not just about quantity - I get that completely. It's also about breadth of work. Not everyone liked Room for Squares. Or Sob Rock for that point. But as bookends of the career right now, if you take into account what's in the middle - from the Trio, so Born and Raised, and you honestly look at (OK listen to) the sheer variety of the music Mayer has explored, at this point I think it's hard to really say that he doesn't deserve to be listened to. But it's also not just about breadth, and this is where it's all subjective. I find his playing more nuanced and interesting than either Hendrix or SRV (gasp, I know). His studio albums are - for me - the runways from which to get comfortable, before accessing his live work, which takes me away and has reduced me to tears on many more occassions than I can count. For me, he is the single most important guitar player of all tme - for me and how I listen. I think maybe Knoplfler would be second if I tried to make a list because - again for me - at the end of the day it's about the impact the music has on me. Amazing. All it needs is that mid solo section dynamic drop from the band like in the 2019 and born and raised tour. I hope he adds that back in is such a great moment. Also big respect for stopping on the outro for medic attention.

Yeah I noticed it was back there too. Nothing beats it. Best sound. Guessing his dumble is there somewhere too. That beats it probably. Supposedly close in sound to each other. Who knows with unobtainium amps like that. One things for sure. The PRS amps just weren’t as good for classic Mayer songs like this.
i seriously don't understand why john doesn't get J.J. johnson back? out of all mayers touring drummers he is easily the best, he sits in the song and sounds identical to the records
