There was a time when pencil, paper, and complex drawings would be the base of a construction planning. It would be a tiring process with lots of loopholes in it. but, things have changed. Now it is all about BIM.
What is BIM?
BIM or Building Information Modeling has been part of the construction industry for some time now.
BIM is an intelligent, model-based process for planning, designing, building and managing buildings and infrastructure. It connects AEC professionals in more efficiently design, builds and operates an infrastructure through BIM.
It is more than just digital 2D or 3D model.
It is the process of designing a building collaboratively using one coherent system of computer models rather than as separate sets of drawings.
If a model element is changed then BIM co-ordinates the changes in all views that display that element. Architects, Contractors and structural engineers can work more collaboratively accessing and updating the design. The information is captured in the model and remains there consistent and co-ordinated.

I’m just a general contractor that does remodels and additions , is this something I can easily use ?
Think about how you source and cost materials, how you access building plans, how you get planning permission and inspection sign-off, how you organise sub-contractors and then re-organise them because of supply chain mess-ups, and all the rest of the things that you have to do before picking up a tool. You'd have ready access to all of that through a BIM interface. As to what that interface is and how you'd access it, software designers and developers (like me) are already working on ways to make that access and usage simpler for all users, be they architects, suppliers, planners or construction workers. It doesn't matter whether you're building an entire new housing site or remodelling a bathroom, the concepts will be the same. So yes, it will take some getting used to (just like moving from hand tools to powertools was last century) but yes ease of use should be built into the system to make that learning curve easier.

What the different between BIM and Inventor ?
Universal Engineering, BIM is the industry standard, Autodesk Inventor is one piece of software that supports it. Think of it as CAD (standard) and AutoCAD (software) and you’ll be on the right lines.
@@bobpowell4975 ok, thats mean BIM isn't software name ?, but inside the BIM there are Autocad, Inventor, Revit etc.

What suitable software for MEP Engineer? Now I am studying Autocad & Inventor at my Campur, I study in MEP degree. What different between Inventor & Revit?
@@Universalengineerings Main difference is that Inventor is focused a lot more on architecture and less on mechanics. Inventor is more detailed, Revit is more 'big picture'. Only you can decide which is best for you.
