Nice video of the SSS Gloria! Only crew onboard, time for the crew to relax :) Worked on board the Gloria from 1986 to 1991 where I then as her captain left her in Rhode Island, Newport. Just after leaving her the Hurricane Bob came to Rhode Island and Newport where it made landfall; Gloria made it through without damage. Miss sailing her! Great sailing yacht and the owners, two during my time aboard, used her a lot! 5 Atlantic crossings during that time period.
I had the pleasure of working on the Gloria for 4 years, the best job that I ever had.She rode the most tempestuous seas like the princess she is.Now owned by Pete Townsend from the band The Who.
I appreciate this video of yacht Gloria. I assume they keep a small engine working all the time for electric power. I like to watch the motion of the ship on the water and the men working on board. Thanks so much!!
With the in-furling sails she's top heavy, rolls at anchor. The hull was built in Holland by Jongert then she went to the UK to be fitted out. Such a shame, she could be so much faster with a normal rig.
That is a beautiful yacht. It's a shame that there was no sailing in the video, i would have liked to see the main sail being set as i've never seen the main furled in the mast before which must make it easy for shorthanded sailing.
What you do is get an education in a lucrative field, work hard and save your money, defer gratification, learn to invest wisely and wait until you're 65 and can draw social security!!

The ship moves a lot with almost no waves.

For a big boat , she seems to roll a lot .
The bigger the boat, the more they roll !!!
That is apparently an open roadstead, the swell is causing that roll, it's difficult to see, but it's there.
