I came upon this video by accident. I saw the Broadway production with Ted Neely years ago. This is an EXCELLENT production. Really quite incredible! Judas is over the top talent. God bless you one and all!!!!
I have to say this was a brilliant all star cast. It's great to see high school students creative and show thier amazing Talents. I have to say my favorite was Gregory Milano , He did a good Jesus. Well done and thank you for the entertainment.
Whoever put this together should e extremely proud of their work. Jesus Christ Superstar is an extremely ambitious project to do in high school, not too many drama class directors would not even consider such an endeavor, bravo to the director. I was impressed with how many students were up to the challenge and how many good voices existed in this school. One person in the comments complained about the student playing Jesus, which is ridiculous. I though he had a very good voice. Sure, he didn’t attempt the highest notes, but how many high school drama clubs have a guy with the three octave range the part requires? Not many, I can tell you. The girl playing Mary was surprisingly good. Judas, Pilate and Herod were all played very well. I also think that the band was very good for a high school band, so bravo to the band director. I think the quality of this play is more what you’d expect at the college level, so it is phenomenal for a high school drama club. My accolades to all who were involved with putting this together. I say that the audience members got their money’s worth that night.
Very good production in terms of emotion; even dancers are acting, not just dancing. Jesus actor knows what he's doing for sure. Very passionate. Pity that he was afraid to hit the high notes in Gethsemane, I'm sure he could. Judas, Caiaphas, Pilate, Herod, Mary very good too.
God Bless you Tom! what a gift you've given us all - to be able to share this production far and wide! These kids worked so hard and it's wonderful their work will live on in youtube perpetuity! Thank you! Congratulations JCS cast! Congrats to all you seniors! TSClifford
Your Caiaphas, Judus. Pilot all have fantastic voices. Caiaphas was one of the best I have seen including professional touring companies. The only disappointing voice was Jesus. Someone should have worked a little more with his vocal range there isn't much of one. Having said all that I loved the production. It was one of the best high school ones I have seen and I have seen a lot. The choreography was spot on and the set was very creative and well used. Herod was great and it looks like he has some ballet training . always an entertaining number! Great Job. Forgot to mention Mary. Great voice and handled the vocals like a real pro. Great Job! The kid playing Judas is a great actor and his voice was perfect! OK.........Pilot was awesome also!
Some of your comments made me laugh out loud. How you could describe the set as very creative beats me. And to describe Caiaphas as a fantastic singer is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in years.
Act 1 1:32 - Overture 5:15 - Heaven on their minds 9:14 - What’s the buzz? 11:32 - Strange thing mystifying 13:15 - Everything’s alright 17:09 - This Jesus must die 20:31 - Hosanna 22:29 - Simon Zealotes 25:25 - Poor Jerusalem 27:22 - Pilate’s dream 29:04 - The temple 33:41 - Everything’s alright reprise 34:18 - I don’t know how to love him 37:46 - Damned for all time/blood money Act 2 42:56 - The last supper 49:12 - Gethsemane 54:58 - The arrest 58:27 - Peter’s denial 59:52 - Pilate and Christ 1:02:29 - King Herod’s song 1:05:39 - Could we start again please? 1:08:20 - Judas’s death 1:12:25 - Trial before Pilate 1:19:07 - Superstar 1:26:29 - John 19:41 1:29:04 - Bows
I watched the Felsted High School version at your request. I wasn’t impressed. I commend any high school drama director that dares to take on this production, mostly because the Felsted HS version is what you’d expect a HS production of JCSS to turn out to be, bad singing and a lack of emotion. This production is light years better than Felsted HS’s version. To start, the student playing Judas in their version couldn’t sing very well, not nearly as good as the kid playing Judas in this version. The part of Judas requires someone who can really run scales cleanly, not sliding the notes up or down, but truly running the scales up or down. If your Judas can’t sing, your play is screwed since he is one of the two leads in the production. The student playing Jesus was also a bad singer, so there goes your play. It wouldn’t matter how good the rest of the students sing if your Jesus and Judas are singing flat and sliding scales. Every student in this version sang quite well, with the exception of the one singing Simon the Zealot’s part. She was out of key for most of the song, but one person out of the entire cast is pretty good for a high school version of this play. It seemed every student in the Felsted HS play sang about as good as the girl doing Simon here. I do admit I didn’t watch the entire Felsted play. When the Judas, Mary and Jesus were singing off-key, it was kind of painful to listen to, knowing they had most of the songs in the rest of the play. I really hate to be critical on high school student, especially since I admire anyone taking on such a challenge as JCSS, so I commend both drama teachers, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good many of the students were in this version, well better than what you’d expect from a HS. The Felsted HS version was what I expected any HS version to be like. I would typically think that any HS drama director choosing this play to perform was biting off more than they can chew, but in the case of this version, the director was up to the challenge, as were the student singers. They were amazing. I’m not saying that the students at Felsted were terrible, they were just average, but this play requires much more than average, so the director at Felsted should have chosen a less ambitious production.
One of the most popular choices in budget production. Simon Zealotes is a waste of a very strong vocalist for only 1 short song, most productions can't afford that (most struggle to find ones at least for J&J). His part is much easier for a woman to sing.
Jesus messed up after the song Hosanna. He didn't sing his part... Jesus and Mary sang beautifully. JCSS never said heal yourself to any of them.. Pilate sang awesome as well as Judas..Caiphas and his men were fabulous..Simon being a female and being up in the rafters above Jesus was not good tho she had a good singing voice ...The orchestra did a marvelous job on the music... Herod and his crew were hilarious but awesome!! All in all excellent job 🌹❤️
Very good!
What a truly wonderful performance. Guy playing Judas is brilliant, in fact they are all exceptionally good. Well done ❤

Had to pause after the last supper to come say that the person playing Judas is absolutely fantastic. Giving me chills.
Whoa the kid playing Judas is sooo talented! He's so impressive! Wow!
Clicked on a highschool version not expecting much, but that Judas is killer
