Carl Anderson was still young and extremely professional in this video. No one, in my opinion, has mastered this role as well as he has. I am very happy that it has been preserved for posterity.
Thank you so much for posting all these videos. I saw so many of these in person and studied at AMTSJ for many years. Brings back a lot of good memories. I miss that place.
@William Byron I'm pretty sure this is the same or a similar production from that period, but that is assuredly not Barry Dennen as Pilate, and I'm not convinced that Jesus is Sam Harris either.
Jesus is played by Gary Sandy from WKRP In Cincinnati, who played Andy Travis! While this company was mostly local talent, they quite often invited celebrities to participate!
Holy cow! This is the closest to the 20th Anniversary Tour that I have ever seen! This has to be Tony Stevens' direction. Some things tweaked and changed for the tour.
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother recently xD
It was the vision of our director Dianna Schuster. She wanted the character of Annas to be especially slimy and have him moving around the stage with an eerie visual. That was me by the way.
The guy who played Jesus is my acting teacher, he doesn’t teach anymore but it makes me so happy to see footage of him.. (:
MY ACTING TEACHER IS JESUS!!! He retired last year, but man it’s cool to see this.

This the best showing of Jesus Christ Superstar I have ever seen

Any chance we can get an indicator of the cast? (Aside, obviously, from Carl Anderson.)

That's definitely NOT Sammy Harris!

This is of a different production, as that is most definitely NOT Sammy Harris as Jesus!

I think it's Tony Geary as Jesus
Santa Claus at the temple 😂😂😂
Oh my god why was Heaven On Their Minds so sped up when those strong, steady vocals from Judas deserved their time to shine?

Why is one of the actors using the crutches throughout the show, and at the end walking normaly? Was it just a symbol? A metaphor for something?
