The reel cast very well and once it is dialed in,best casting reel I own and I believe I have owned all most of the inshore bait casting reels from Shimano! Well worth the money

I own both. and the new SLX DC XT is superior in my educated opinion and my main go-to reel. I was under impressed with my JDM reels, especially for what they cost. Also, McDonald's chicken nuggets come in better packaging. For the money, the Curado DC 200 is a steal also. Got one for $160

My Metanium is arriving today! Now a really stupid question. I want to fish 12lb fluro on it. Should I first spool a backing for the fluro? How much backing do you think if any? Will 12lb fluro be good for my pond fishing?
What kind of line you use depends on what type of fishing you are doing with it. Crankbaits/jerkbaits you want mono. Top water or flipping in grass, you want heavy braid. Fluoro for stuff like Swimbaits, chatterbaits, etc.
@@Lqviolin2 mind me asking what you’re fishing? If it’s bass, you’re fine with 12lb fluoro. If you’re after toothier game, like Pike and Muskie, it’s less effective.
@@stonehorn4641 large mouth bass. My local ponds don’t hold very large fish and are high pressured water. I’ve downsized and do much better now. (For a symphony orchestra conductor, lol)
Shimano is seriously lacking in the packaging. I opened up a curado mgl and it was just a reel in a box. No bubble wrap, no instructions, and of course no oil.
Glad you enjoyed it, but I hate DC reels. HATE! I have a Curado DC, and I can’t imagine what anyone likes about them? They sound awful, don’t cast as far, skip like shit. I just don’t get it. I don’t even keep my Curado DC on my boat anymore. It’s just in its box on my shelf. I’ll stick with my regular Metaniums.
Honestly, in my opinion, the Curado dc is probably the worst DC reel of the bunch, at least from my experience. While most of my reels are metaniums and bantams (metaniums are the real deal), I’ve owned several DC models. The scorpion DC was without a doubt a better reel than the curado and I have a slx xt DC now that is substantially better performing than both. I just got one of these Metanium DC 70s and can honestly say it’s impressive. Casting is top notch and skips effortlessly.
Ummm so you haven’t fished it yet and you call it the best? BTW it is a great damn reel and it is my favorite so far and I think I may own all of the top Shimano reels out there! Would buy it today if you already do not own it!
Well as someone who has, it is a 10/10 right now. Like any other reel it’s subject to change for longevity, but the performance, ergonomics, and fit and finish are A++

I was disappointed that it dissent have clicking drag. Otherwise, it’s my go-to in big wind. First DC and really like it.

2 different types of reels. Antares if you want a bigger DC reel. Daiwa if you want a versatile reel.
I wish they would of made this reel with a deeper spool to hold more line . Im waiting for metanium dc with atleast a regular spool size .
