It depends on The weight of the car , grip and power band. 530-570 whp on a 3200-3400 lb car is more than enough for the street and for most people than you can use on the street. 700-850 whp is scary fast on a light car and will get you locked up fast if you stay on the pedal more than 2 secs and if you don’t have small rims with big tires you will be spinning all the time and that’s a ugly look to Have mix match small rims and a drag pack.

Yo dude! I just wanted to stop back in on this video and say thank you. Over a year ago I was torn on what tuner car I wanted to buy/build. Kept bouncing back and forth between an sti, evo, fd rx7, 300zx, R32 GTR, etc. . After watching this video, the way you threw it together especially that intro (that was the nail in the coffin), I was sold on an evo. Not a month later I went out and purchased a low mileage IX MR and built it from the ground up. So again, thank you for the inspiration and if you ever find yourself in New England, I have a spare key with your name on it. ps: im a short drive from Mt. Washington, just saying.
Manny787 yeah that fluttering is different. And no man not many issues beside stock parts that were failing I replace “upgraded” Stock Tcase still going strong, upgraded Tranny. But everything that has to do with the tune and what English did to the motor. Thing is perfect still. And I daily my car atleast 5 days out of the week

What the hell....I am a fan of EVO 8 & 9 but after watching powerful Supras and skylines I thought EVO's engine couldn't compete with the 6 cylinder cars...but this video gives my hope back and srsly the engine bay with the 60mm is AWESOME....This video!! has given me know that EVO's engine can fit 60mm!!! turbo and I wish it can fit more than that

Evil_VIII Go FP Red, don't go black unless you like boost lag, red spools a little more quickly and it will be useable in more race applications, 500awhp is plenty and will put a smile on your face!
Team Ghast i installed fp black on my car and making 550whp and i spool at 2500rpm and i get full boost (31 psi) at 4000rpm. Car is setup and tunned well. So far im happy with it
Riccardo Spadano My first evo 9 Fully built bottom short block 2.0L 35r turbo kit Was pushing 580 on e85 I notice my 5th gear was going out on me and one day I was roll racing and I blew 5th gear and I had to get it towed home from the eway lol then I notice my compression was off on cylinder 3 105 compression so I ended up selling it and I had money saved and I bought a rally red evo 8,basic bolt ons tuned on 93 pump gas,was planning to put more money into it but decided to sell it and buy a srt8 Jeep
I know this video is old but alot of folks saying it sounds weird or like surge when going into boost etc. Its an External Wastegate setup which is why sounds like that. My 02 subie with ej207 was built same way and sounds thr same. Just so ya know 🙌
Evo vs sti arguement. Evo= cast iron block make more boost. High torque and hp. Handle more than 1000hp+. Handle better in autocross. Faster in drag race. Better gearing for boost and high hp. Sti= cool sound. Thats it.
This comment is old but, literally all that is wrong except for the evos block being cast iron. It can safely hold around 400whp not 1000. There’s all different types of gear ratios for Subaru, not evos. My 20’ wrx btw, stock motor, makes 400whp.
@@effingwrecked1917 I’ve watched witnessed a couple evos explode violently on 400+ hp. Also Sti makes more torque than evo so that’s wrong too. 2.5 vs a 2.0.

Very awesome! my favorite evo are the 6s just because they are the most aggressive looking and have the most rally nostalgia but all around there’s no doubt the 7/10s are the best cars
@@adenk9858 The VPD is targeting modified cars, some stock as well. They are pulling them over issuing them a vehicle inspection. Vehicle inspection cost is on the owner and even if you pass, they will pull you over and do it all over again

William Kosch its got a FP black with custome wheel and housing. 2.3L ams stroker with high compression engine ,head is fully built and O-ringed with HKS 280 cams, Over sized valves . 3” ANS turbo back exhaust .lots more but thats just the a run down of it
No offense, and it's not you and I enjoy your videos. However, I'm tired of everybody saying the evo 8/9 is the better platform to make good power. The evo x is a real evo and the 4B11 is more than capable of making upwards of 500hp without building it. So I'll have to disagree with you on your conclusion of the 8/9 being the better platform out of the evo lineup
Jeremiah evo x owner soon to make 520whp stock motor on e85 with full bolt ons full boost at 3600rpm and any professional evo builder will tell you when sleeved the 4b11 is better and they make pretty much the same power mod for mod plus the 5 speed in the x is good for 1000hp at the crank everyone trashes the 10 but a lot of people have pushed 650whp on a stock block which isn’t cast iron 😂

I would've liked to see some more of the engine & performance of this evo. What turbo did it have? You said 60mm but is it a PTE6062 or maybe a GTX30R? I'm building my Evo 8 as we speak & I'm trying to build the ultimate Daily Street Beast. I'm keeping the stock block for now, just so I can feel & appreciate the difference. It's prolly guna be a 2.3L when all's said & done tho... Build consists of: •Gtx3576r •Sheepey twin scroll Bottom mount •Radium Fuel Rails/Lines •1300cc •Wally 450l I think 6-650awhp will be perfect for a Daily. After that, reliability starts to play a factor.
Fasting Media the EJ is plenty capable of making just as much power when built properly. The 4G is easier to achieve over 1000 hp yet the amount of average people touching that kind of power is so small it’s almost not worth noting.
Glad you made the distinction between having to rev an engine and getting to rev an engine. It really makes all the difference. You can keep an evo below 4k RPM and have pleeenty torque to play with in every day driving. But you CAN rev it higher and really get moving. On the other hand, something like an N/A B16 you HAVE to rev, just to get along, such as onramps and stuff. If you wanna move swiftly in traffic with a B16 you really can't keep the revs low, it just does not work.And that is when reving becomes a chore.

Xeroff exactly. They’re very fast cars (Sti,evo,) plus the 4wd helps with the wheelspin (or lack thereof)

Do you have specs on this build? Curious to see what turbo they’re running, seems you could spool a small turbo pretty quick on a 2.3 at 550whp.

Fasting Media the EJ is plenty capable of making just as much power when built properly. The 4G is easier to achieve over 1000 hp yet the amount of average people touching that kind of power is so small it’s almost not worth noting.

Glad you made the distinction between having to rev an engine and getting to rev an engine. It really makes all the difference. You can keep an evo below 4k RPM and have pleeenty torque to play with in every day driving. But you CAN rev it higher and really get moving. On the other hand, something like an N/A B16 you HAVE to rev, just to get along, such as onramps and stuff. If you wanna move swiftly in traffic with a B16 you really can't keep the revs low, it just does not work.And that is when reving becomes a chore.
