The Subaru doesn't use a computer driven differential, it's mechanical. The transmission sits closer to the driver and rear differential distributing the weight better. The axles are more equal lengths, therefore more grip on rally courses and less tq steer. This is what's great about symmetrical AWD. You're supposed to dive the nose in to compensate for the under steer. That's how you drive a Subie. Watch WRC and see for yourself.
Update: that's how you drive in Rally. Tarmac you would have to try not to brake hard, so the load doesn't go too far to the front wheels, or throttle too much so the load doesn't go to far to the rear wheels. Basically, you have to keep the car balanced.
