I love the new Global musical emphasis. You guys are doing an excellent job. I used to be the editor of a zine back in the mid 1990's called Symposium. You guys do an bang up job of evoking that feeling of the old school fan zine updated with newer technology. 5/5 Skulls
@zerototalchaos Check out Unholy. Also newer bands such as Stench of Decay and Ascended played rather doomy death metal. If you don't mind really old demo production, theres a few more like Skeptical Schizo, Ater, Holy Hell, etc. There's a lot to dig into. If funeral doom is fine, Skepticism, Thergothon, Tyranny, Shape of Despair are good starting points.
Other less known Finnish traditional doom bands that I quite enjoy that weren't mentioned in the video are also Caskets Open, Fall of the Idols and Serpent Warning. Overall this episode was really solid and you can tell Sarah is really into the scene, which is always nice to see.
I am not really a fan of doom, but her enthusiasm made me want to listen to a few of these records. Probably still won't be a fan of doom, but I might listen anyway.
Lord Vicar is often forgotten in the discussion of Finnish doom metal scene. They were formed in 2007 and is lead by Kimi Kärki. They have three albums out: Fear no Pain, Signs of Osiris and Gates of Flesh. Gates of Flesh was released in 2016. Check em out if you like Reverend Bizarre!
Just wanted to say thanks for opening my eyes to some truly excellent new music. I LOVE the Spiritus Mortis album and am also enjoying the Rev Biz albums too. I'm also looking forward to hearing your band's album upon release, Sarah!
My Dying Bride got me into doom metal. That band change my perspective on metal so much and Aaron Stainthorpe is still one of my all time favorite vocalists.
Holy shit, i've been scouring the net for new doom bands, this is perfect. Favorite channel comes through for me again. Nice to see Sarah reviewing again! You always have cool shit to share.

Doooooooooooooooooom.......... Thank you Sara for being the face of doom on Banger! You seem to like the same bands as me, and not a lot of people I know enjoy the genre as much as I do. So, its awesome to see someone as excited about it as I am. Keep up the good work, kid!

I wasn't a big fan of this series at first but after seeing Dylan, Brad and Blayne cover tech death prog, and black metal, I started really enjoying this exploration of metal scenes around the world. It's super informative and always find a new (or old) bands to listen to! This series reminds me of the kind of thing Oliver from DeepCuts RUclips channel does for his "genre guides" series.
1:42 Whilst the letter å does exist in the Finnish alphabet, it is only there because of Swedish and its position as the second language of Finland at around 5% native speakers in the country (in Finnish, a direct translation of the letter's name would be "Swedish O"). Because of this and judging by how he said his last name, though, I think you meant Kärki instead of Kårki.
that was easily the best show Banger tv has ever produced for its online channel. Congrats to Sarah for an insightful and expert overview of one of my fave sub genres. Having Kimi Karki make an appearance was super cool. Great get. I hope Sarah can be convinced to bring her knowledge and professionalism to wrong the abortions that where the stoner/doom overviews you have now attempted twice and failed at twice. Maybe you can revisist Finalnd and Svart again in future and do a death doom episode with Rippikoulu and Hooded Menace.
Nice video as always Sarah. Not really tradicional doom but my favorite (Funeral) Doom Metal band from Finland is the all mighty Thergoton. "Stream from the Heavens" is such a masterpiece.
I was really stoked to see/hear The Wandering Midget (I Am the Gate, in particular) and Cardinals Folly mentioned, those are great examples of Finnish trad doom. For any fans of those or Reverend Bizarre, I'd also highly recommend Serpent Warning - Pagan Fire. Excellent example of "sticking-to-your-roots" Finnish trad doom that, at the same time, sounds kinda fresh and non-derivative.
I love the 'Global' series… Maybe you might consider a Turkish Death Metal episode. Burial Invocation, Cenotaph, Engulfed, Diabolizer, Hellsodomy, Carnophage, Decaying Purity, Persecutory, Sarinvomit are all well known and respected bands in the European underground scene… Some of them are well known in the States as well.
Can't help but notice both of my favourite active canadian bands are putting out records this month. Thrawsunblat just released their newest record and the new Skull Fist album is just a couple of days away. Would be really cool to see them featured on your channel!
Whoa whoa hold up...way to bury the lead on your local expert! HAIL AND A MILLION THANKS for this very important episode. The flame of true doom will never die.
Far and away the crunchiest Overkill Global episode. I loved the music, the tone on every sample was amazing, but the true doom vocals were a bit tougher to get behind. I will definitely be taking a look at Wandering Midget though.
Great job, Sarah. Death doom is where it's at for me, though. Checked already Spiritus Mortis and think their riffs are great. Doom recommendations? The ones I can think of that you may not have heard are US Circadian RItuals and Benthic Realm,

Maze of Roots are brilliant indeed ! Quite agreed with everything, though the last split from The Wandering Midget is an absolute masterpiece even though there's just one track from them ( also the other band is absolutely masterful, Hands of Orlac, Italo-Swedish band, out of talk for that video though. ). Fall of the Idols needed to be in the top 5, because all their releases are masterpieces. Could have named Serpent Warning at the end, quite good stuff as well. Also Mansion had to be named, master band, and absolutely crushing live performance ( Muskelrock 2014 ).
