One condition about eating durian ***don’t drink alcohol when you’re eating durian, it can cause your life because Durian can stops an enzyme that helps detoxify alcohol called Aldehyde. Normally, this enzyme helps the body detoxify alcohol well. Durian will interfere with this work and can cause lead to severe dehydration and loss of oxygen levels in blood if you’re not in hand of doctors in time then can lead to death.

I am pleasantly surprised that the market area is not overly crowded the way I had imagined. Maybe I will convince the hubs to visit Thailand some time in the off season. I can't get over how affordable the food is!
Ya low season is a good time to come! Food is so inexpensive here. Durian was the most expensive, but in the south where its abundant right now, they pretty much give it away! We can order a meal on grab for less than a slice of pizza in the USA or Canada and it's healthy food!
Thank you! 🙏Yes Durian is a very strange fruit! That's good you were able to try it again when you were older. Thanks for watching and we look forward to filming more videos here in Thailand! 😊
Some durians can have really strong smell. You might find the ones on the milder side. Also, durian's smell gets stronger in the air- con places and the smell will stick in the air-con system too, that's why Durian is not allowed in the places with air-conditioning.
Wow, what a transition,.. from Costa Rican jungles, to the urban concrete jungle of Bangkok. Love you guys. Can't wait to see Chris eat a bug !!! Yummy !!!!
Wow!! I am visiting friends this weekend in New York and clicked on this video as soon as I woke up! Everything looks good, EXCEPT for the bugs! 😂😂😂 I have a serious phobia of bugs and my anxiety kicks in whenever i see one! I would start crying 😢😢😢 Thank you Chris&Shayna for this beautiful, informative and comical and entertaining video!! ❤❤❤ You guys are so brave trying bugs though!! 😂😂😂
Thanks as always for watching and yes the bugs seem weird but they are honestly not that bad. Would I eat them every day? No, but it's fun to try! More weird food in videos are coming! Stay tuned 😉😋
You will enjoy it, definitely go evening time just before it gets dark and well into when it is dark! We'll be going back soon without the camera to take it in even more!
Can’t wait to have larb + som tam again, a couple of our fav thai dishes. 👌👌 You guys must be stoked about the latest 60 day VOA, will definitely make travel in Thailand easier, I’m so grateful 🙏
So much fun, new places, people, culture and food to explore. You all have such an adventurous spirit! I love that you’re trying new foods Thank you for sharing your experiences. , go for it!
Very crystal clear video. THANK YOU. Durian has a lot of sulfur mixed in that kind of fruit, so you should avoid eating it in the hot temperature area.
I've eaten more than my share of bugs unexpectedly while ATV'ing. I'm pretty sure they taste better roasted and seasoned like yours were. I'll take your word on that, though Chris!
Do you know that when a durian becomes overripe and the flesh starts to soften, its smell gets stronger and stronger? The sweetness also increases, but you might not like the smell. That's why I usually recommend eating durian that isn't too ripe. The flesh is still firm, the flavor isn't too sweet, and most importantly, the smell isn't too overpowering.
I’m glad you’re well enough to get out and eat street food. Not all the choices of say some Mexican street food. 🌮 It’s an adventure, but not an everyday thing to do and get fulfilment of grubs for your dinner by eating other bugs. My reaction would probably be the same as your assistant food taster Laki. 🤮🐛 Good to hear Scott & Kathy are joking in the adventure, that should be fun, Scott loves his food, so eating a scorpion might not be filling enough for him, he may have to go for a bag of fried grasshoppers and crickets. Can’t wait until you go to a Thai restaurant for some more upscale food. Looks like you’re starting to love the new world you’re in. Enjoy!
China town doesn't have much choice until night, the markets here have waay more options than mexico, you'll see soon. Ya at least Lakai gave it a try tho haha. Scott doesn't know what he is in for when he get's here. He is a trooper tho and tries stuff with me, like in Panama! We have plenty of restaurants and food stalls to film at, it's never ending in this city. Hope all is well in Uvita!
@@TheDufresnes Yes, Scott loves to critique food and Kathy has said to me when he does his little “Food Dance” with his hands she gets a kick out of it. Yes, I’m sure they have some really delicious food in China Town there. I wonder if they serve chicken chow mein and garlic black bean dishes like N. America..😂…probably not. Sorry for the misspelling of Lakai’s name. Things are good here as always, compared to anywhere outside of the Western Media World. @donmorrow1923 haha don't believe Tico Times, Samara is empty and so are our rentals along with many of our friends rentals in Samara and even Nosara. Tourism is very low this year compared to the past. Let's hope it picks up for 2025!
