I’m the exact same way!! I didn’t stan any girl groups until new jeans, then Le Sserafim and since yesterday I now stan XG. They’re so different from all the other girl groups and continue to make amazing music.

All of their promotional and released music is and will be in English as of right now. Their extra stuff they put on their channel like the Xypher and covers will be a mix of English Japanese and Korean. They cater to a global market but you can see that they are taking full advantage of the Korean music industry and it’s probably one of the smartest things I’ve seen. This reminds me of the Filipino boy group SB19, they are a Filipino boy group that promotes Filipino music, but they used the Korean training system to build their skills and you can hear it in their sound and see it in how they promote. They have become even bigger than just a Filipino audience because those who are familiar with k-pop can see the effort and work they have out into their careers and find them interesting as well. I know XG will be big sooner or later. They are doing very well for only 3 songs so far. Their main producer JAKOPS is Simon from the Korean boy group Dalmatian, later the name changed to DMTN. He is half Japanese half Korean and is the main visionary and producer for XG. He also can speak English and since leaving the idol industry he has stayed in producing. I have seen him with many world known producers and people in the music industry all around the world including the US. I can only imagine the interest others can see in XG as I feel they are a great way to bring the East more to the West that isn’t strictly just everyone’s fave K-pop group. They are like the perfect inbetween that everyone has been looking for.

I totally agree with you. This move on the Korean market was very smart. I think there producer is probably one of the most talented I have heard of in term of pop music. He is literally combining R&B. Hip hop and pop. This group is doing something no one has ever done. I’ll tell you right now the groups rappers are probably the hardest I have heard especially counting within the K-pop industry. Flows are good, music is smooth, dance moves amazing. And everyone can sing very well. I see them being global stars in 3 years.

They were thinking the same things I was when I first saw this. They are perfect right now and it's only the beginning. I thought the same like whoa, these girls are %100 everything right now, in 5 yrs they are gonna be huge, gargantuan huge, and I've never even used that word before lol. But seriously XG, no other group has anything on them right now, yes I said it. They are going to dominate this world. BTS status, not comparing their music, just saying they are going to reach those heights and will be beloved massively, and who knows maybe even surpass it. And in 5 years, hopefully they are still a group by then because what they have, not even groups that have been around for a while have what they have. I can't even really explain it or describe it, it's more than just that IT factor or star power, it goes beyond all that. Their label should be so proud and happy and excited for what's to come because they have crafted in my opinion pretty much a perfect group, hands down. And I didn't really have a favorite female group for a long time, not just in Kpop but in general, no female group really excited me like XG, they make me feel how i felt when i discovered BTS 7 years ago, and for me, that is saying something big wholeheartedly. they have my full on love and support, XG get ready, yall are going to be THAT group, especially here in the states, please be warned, hope yall are ready! They are singing that they are taking off into outer space, comets dropping when they hit the scene, and that they are shooting from another galaxy (ooh-ooh), this is why they are in space on a different planet, with comets dropping, I guess the helicopter in the background is supposed to be the spaceship that they also sing about, that they just arrived in...
The Group history:
XG is a Japanese girl group that is trying to make it big globally, to achieve this, XG´s japanese label reached out to South Korea. Japan and Korea has been working together for many many years, first japan was to open its music industry to Korea, koreans where to learn japanese and release their songs in japanese, this is why MANY korean k-pop bands sang in Japanese and did tours in Japan. This was a joint agreement between Korea and Japan, after South Korea gave up the ban on Japanese culture in their country, and thereby also in their entertainment industry. I believe that BOA was the first to pop up from this joint agreement. Now XG is a result of this same agreement in Korea, The Japanese label Avex created a new label in Korea called XGALX, this joint company was to promote the japanese group in Korea, with Korean knowhow and international experience. XG is a japanese group, that is going for international recognition (this is why they sing in english), right now they are based out of South Korea, tomorrow maybe they will move to America.
The production team in South Korea are doing an amazing job on the looks, the music videos and the management, it goes to show that it was the right move to start in South Korea...
Just to sum up, XG is a japanese group that is based out of South Korea at the moment, but still as a international japanese group. Their label is Japanese, they are all Japanese (Hinata is half korean, Harvey is half australian) but they were all born and raised in Japan, and mostly only speak japanese. They speak moderate Korean, enough to answer simple interview questions, but will switch to japanese when they want to say something complicated.
This is because they where to debut out of Korea, so they spent 5 years learning the language. Also English, they are working hard on becoming better at english, but the only member that is fluent is actually only Maya, and Jurin is also quite good, but is still not 100% confident..
So there you go, they are a Japanese group, in a japanese label, with japanese members but they are being promoted out of South Korea right now
