  • Sometimes you have to recode your values, meaning that you need to change the numeric value associated with a level or category of your variable. This most often happens when you did not set up your data collection in Qualtrics with numeric values, when you are changing a variable, or when you made a mistake during data collection. There are two different ways to recode variables manually: 1) Recode into Different Variables, and 2) Recode into Same Variables. This video focuses on Recoding into Different variables using the menu options. I end with a review of the syntax.

It sounds like you are combining two datasets with the same variable(s) ? If so, you can use merge to add cases. There is also a merhe to add variables. I hope that helps!
