Easby Abbey, Richmond North Yorkshire

The Abbey of St Agatha, Easby, was founded in 1152 by Roald, Constable of Richmond Castle.
Easby was a Premonstratensian Abbey, home to canons rather than monks.
The Abbey was suppressed in 1536-7 and fell into ruin: it became celebrated as a picturesque site in the 18th and 19th centuries.
