I am still living here. It changed alot. Specialy in last 20 years. As government continues did search operation, so there is no more drug and guns. The railway tracks is badly effected by floods. Because of it i never seen train on this tracks nearly for 20 years.
I am not good in english but i hope everyone understood. At the end of the video, the train is passing through 2 tunnels, our house is just across these tunnels.

Our family was from Lahore before Partition. My Maternal grandfather ( Nanaji) servd as assistant station master at Landi kotal. He used to tell us real life experiences at Railway Station. Whatever I see in this video corroborates his life and daily routine at Landi Kotal. We , as a child used to listen interesting facts about life at remote places. He also remained at Pasrur, Daska, Mandi Bahudin, Sialkot. After partition he was posted at Ferozpur City in India. The lifestyle of people seems same today. very well made video. Thanks and Congratulations to makers. Old memories rekindled.

My great grandmother's family migrated first to Bombay and then to Peshawar from Iraq under the British Raj. I suspect ours was one of the very few Jewish families in NWFP. My great grandmother ended up marrying a local Hindu man and thus subsequently the family moved back to present day India again upon the partition of the country. I don't know much about my family's history in Peshawar but do know that they lived there for around 10 years in the 1920s. Watching this video opens up a world that I would dearly want to explore but haven't yet. One day, maybe I'd be able to see my great grandmother and great grandfather's house in Peshawar.

What a fascinating comment and tale. What was the reason for the migration to Peshawar ? I can only imagine there were very very few Jewish people in that area at that time (although perhaps more than today). At that time, it would not have, ethnically and tribally, been very different from today - primarily Pashtun tribes. And when your great grandmother fled from Iraq under the British Raj, had she fled from a Jewish community there ? Do you still have, perhaps, extended family in Iraq ?

Hindukush does mean Hindu killer. Back in the days when Afghani and Kazak rulers after plundering India used to take a lot of slaves from India (Mostly Hindus) who couldn't survive the journey back to Samarkand or Bukhara and thus the mountains came to be knows as the Hindu killer mountain or Hindu Kush. It's ironical though because the Hindu Shahis did not get expelled from Afghanistan till 11th ~ 12th centuries. When it refers to Hindus it's mainly talking about current day people of Punjab.

Hindu Kush is NOT Hindu killer. Don't use unchecked Wikipedia statements without a fact check. The name preceded even the origin of the Muslim religion. Why would it be called Hindu killer? Use some sense. It has a fee theories like the Persian derivation of the name Indicus, Kush meaning a mountain, so a mountain of the Hindus, and so on and for with the timelines of before the Muslim religionspread in that area. Not to dislike any religion, but don't fall for loose talk. Use historical data.
