      @TriyaAnushka  7 лет назад +57

      Glad the video helped! Good luck with your application! for the personal statement, I think it's really important to tailor it to the unis you want to apply to, for example if you're applying to oxford then you should write a bit about what interests you in ay biology a level etc. Also they won't really look at your extra curricular interests so make that section quite small. I wouldst recommend writing about a book you've read, instead keep it general, because if you do, then they'll quiz you a lot on it! hope this helps :)

    As a Humanities student from a non-Oxbridge Russell Group uni, my experience was the same except:
    - Dinner was just in my flat, not in college.
    - Tutorials were only about twice a year, unless I chose to go and see my tutor during office hours.
    - This would have been comparable to an essay week, but that only happened once every couple of months, not on a near daily basis as in Oxbridge. For some Humanities subjects they had barely any work. But for my subject I had a lot of seminars and classes that I had to do homework/preparatory reading for. So if my lectures started at 10 or 11am, then I had maybe 4 classes/lectures over the course of the day plus a lunch hour. Which means maybe 2 or 3 hours free for self-study which was enough to do all my reading and homework by 6pm and have a free evening.
    - Visiting the library only happened in essay weeks and the runup to exam time (although I basically lived there for a couple of months from final essay week through exam time at the end of the year. I'd arrive at 11AM in the morning and sometimes leave at 11 or 12 at night. In fact since the library was so packed in daytime I lsometimes iked to arrive at about 4PM and leave at 3 or 4AM if I had a lot of work to do, as I got access to the Postgrad study carrels at that time which were in a tower with a view over the city).

    gotta admit, all these people are probably like - its a dream to study at oxford, i didnt go to oxford, i went to a different school, but they dont know how awfull it can be, the moment competition is introduced into classes that i didnt enjoy, such as microbiology or immunology, ehhh cytokines, it became 10 times worse, we would work from morning till midnight, weekends included for a grade that would not make up for the amount of misery i felt, would not recommend, clinical years are much more enjoyable, you get to interact with other people, but pre clinical years were 100% mind numbingly boring lectures and zero fun

    I just received my predicted grades today and got A*AA (Maths, biology and chemistry), is my chance of getting in good or not? My teacher says I’ve got a really good personal statement. I’m just worried since the requirements are AAA but apparently they usually accept A*AA but the A* has to be in a science however I got the A* in maths? I did do furthermaths but dropped it before the predicted grades so can I use that as an ‘enrichment programme’ and is that impressive and have also completed an EPQ in my first year. I personally believe I deserved higher predicted grades, but we didn’t have ucas mocks due to corona and my grades were based on teacher opinion but I’m new to my school (joined for sixth form since I got high GCSE grades and it’s a ‘prestigious’ school) but I only spent like 5 months worth of school with my teachers before the whole corona lockdown occurance. As an oxford student or any others who’d like to input or anyone from prestigious medical schools, like oxford, imperial, Dundee,etc. Are my predicted grades good enough, is that what most of you guys good or is it enough to actually be accepted, I know the requirements are usually AAA for these schools or A*AA but because I got A*AA is that enough, or is it not enough to be guaranteed a spot, etc. Any input would be appreciated.

      Oxford is the best uni in the world mate, Harvard is like community college compared to Oxford. They have their own culture at Oxford built from 1349. All the great leaders such as King Edward VII, Sir Archibald of Mountbatten, Admiral Horatio Nelson, HRH Arthur, Keir Starmer, His lordship Boris, King of pop Michael Jackison, George Washington, Cuba Gooding jr, Tony Stark, Comrade Lenin, Fellow Ruski putin, Robert Baratheon, Professor X, Benjamin Franklin and many other great leaders of this century. Oxford is literally the mecca of education and where legends dine and feast on macaroni cheese and green peas.

    Hello I’m still young and just choosing my subjects and I want to study medicine at oxford too and I was wondering what subjects you chose. I’m also having a hard time choosing between history and geography and wanted to know what you picked and if you enjoyed then

    • @TriyaAnushka
      @TriyaAnushka  7 лет назад +1

      Hi, for A Level I actually did Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics! I really liked this combo, but for GCSE I did both History and Geography :) I think for GCSE it doesn't really matter what subjects you choose, just do the ones you enjoy! But for A Level I would recommend taking at least Chemistry and Maths/Biology :) Hope this helps

    Hi great video ! I’m hoping to apply to oxford for med this year. How/when did you revise for the BMAT, when did you start writing your personal statement and how much work experience did you do. Thanks !

    • @TriyaAnushka
      @TriyaAnushka  7 лет назад +3

      Glad you enjoyed it! I started revising for the BMAT at the end of my summer holiday after Year 12, and then most intensely in the October half term before the exam. I started my personal statement around the same time too! For work experience, I did a few weeks in places like a hospital ward/care home. Hope this helps, and good luck :)

    Hi! Amazing video! Both the music and editing is cool.
    BTW as an international student I would just like to know that is that deadly hard to get into the medicine school (oxford or others)? Cuz I heard that the oxford only accept like 12 med students per year.

    • @arwenalbus4153
      @arwenalbus4153 7 лет назад +1

      ah sorry I mean specifically for an international student.

    • @TriyaAnushka
      @TriyaAnushka  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :) I'm not sure about the specific numbers of international students in medicine in my year, but it's true that there is a smaller percentage of international students in medicine than other subjects at Oxford.. but nevertheless if you want to go here you shouldn't let being an international stop you from applying! x

      Hi :) I did 10 GCSEs and got all A*s.. I'd say GCSEs are pretty important for Oxford because they show your academic potential, also Ox medicine will rank you for interview based on your GCSE grades and BMAT scores! Good luck x
