My goal is to shed 100 lbs: I’m down 20lbs and I have 80lbs remaining. I feel great because I’m doing this for me. I have back issues and I hope to elevate some of the pain that I occasionally deal with.
Dr. Nina thanks for sharing your accomplishment!

I love listening to you, you are so upbeat. Yes I have to have a piece of cake sometimes also. The way I lost my weight was I ate 1200-1400 calories per day and logged on MFP and ate 100 gr of carbs or less a day. A lady at my gym did this and lost 160 lbs. I needed to lose 40 and I did it, had it off for 2 years, feel so much better. Keto was too strict for me but low carb has worked good. I love your videos about get that crappy food out of the house and keep busy when you want to eat. These tips have helped a lot.

My extra weight bothers my hormones and emotions, I know I need this, and thank you for this! When I was working the 16/8 is perfect when you busy, you don't think about food until "lunch time" but spending more time at home I need more willpower or change my schedule.

I've gone to the gym for a day or so but always feel self conscious about my weight so it leads to me not going back. I love how you started working out at home and built up yourself to go out and do so, I'm definitely going to do that. No more TRYING, only DOING this year! Thanks for sharing 💙

I have to say a huge thank you, first, for your videos. You're so very encouraging while also helping to keep us realistic about body and mental health. Thank you so, so much.
As for what I've done to help me go from 320 to now 298, just drinking two to three of my 40 oz bottles of water, eating cucumber chips for a crunchy snack. No more soda except on my 'free' day, I drink a filtered milk with 6 grams of carbs as opposed to the usual 20+. I can't leave my house because of my agoraphobia and social anxiety, but I set my microwave timer for 15 minutes and walk a circuit around my kitchen, dining room, and living room. I also have a set of light weights for strength training. Less potatoes, and more couscous and quinoa.

I have hit the wall of frustration with my body and how I eat and live.
I really love your advice and mantra of treating your body well now, caring for it while on the journey and not after, with a focus on eating whole foods and embracing your body as it is and as it will be.
My goal is to drop a few dress sizes (current at 22-24 AU) and maintain an exercise habit while trying to manage my mental health, which is my biggest trouble (besides sugar. Sugar is the devil). Right now the plan is along the lines of your tips, smaller food portions, better food on a whole, hydrate, and start easy.
You've really taken a weight off my shoulders with your videos and I'm very grateful. Plus, ho damn, you've such a lovely presence, you're a delight to listen to.

Hi Dr. Nina! I love your page and all the information you share😃 I need some advice. Diagnosed with Sarcoidosis of lungs in 2016. Took high doses of Prednisone initially, then tapered off for 1 year. As a result, my body was out of whack big time. I gained 50lbs but recently shed 40 of it over past 6 months. Have never had issues with weight previously but the steroids🙄. Was diagnosed last year November 2019 with Sarcoidosis spreading to my liver. Was told I have to go on steroids starting at 50 mg for 1 month then 40 for another month. In addition, taking an immunosuppressant, which has some many side effects. Have spoken with my doctor regarding other alternatives and I'm told that's my treatment regimen because the damage of the Sarcoidosis to my liver. My question to you is concerning the side effect of weight gain from the steroid. What can I do for the next 2 months to minimize this side effect? I have changed my eating habits previously with the assistance of a personal trainer and work out 4-5 times per week. Any advice is greatly appreciated😄

I not really sure if will be in the same category on going on diet to lose weight. But I have notice I not as hungry as I used to be and my appetite is not the same like it used to be. Anyway every morning when I get home from work ( because I work the graveyard shift) I will drink about 2 or 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar ( the vinegar that have the mother in it) with warm water but it take so long from water from the faucet to get hot, So I put it microwave for an 1 minute. Go to the gym and exercise for about 30 - 45min. Come home make me something to eat. Afterwards do some chores around the house, then go to sleep. Get up have a glass of water before I eat dinner (try not to eat while you eating) and then drink a little more water after I eat. Also I after breakfast I cut up some fresh Ginger. And put and boil some water with cut up ginger in it. Once the water boil let cool down while I sleeping. Then I put in a water bottle with honey and drink that while I at work. I really don't how much I lost but my clothes a little loose also while at work every hour I walk around go down the stairs. The building where I work there 12 floors. Also the reason is the reason I green ginger tea is because I feel bloated sometimes. So did Ginger help me with bloating stomach and gas.

I lost 60 pounds and gained like 20 back because I went to college break 😭😭 don’t ask me how ashamed I am When I’m on my ass I don’t get things done and I become a couch potato ima have to learn to take walks like them white folks in my city even if it’s like 6 blocks weirdly when I go out I eat healthier.
I have stopped eating bread and rice it’s sugar really ( I haven’t gained weight eating junk food when I didn’t eat rice because being Hispanic all the rice you eat everyday adds up alone !!!!!)
I am going to cut off sugar soon I did it for 6 months and I swear the days were longer and I was happier not all sugar just added sugar and juices I already stopped drinking soda it causes osteoporosis my doctors told me and I’m high risk of it.

Even when I I excerise, I don't reduce weight. I've tried low carb, fasting, strict diet per dietitian and I only keep gaining. It's frustrating to say the least. So, if anyone has a similar experience, I'd love to hear what worked for you!

I walked half and hour to an hour 3-5 times a week. Once i stopped i gained weight, im trying to refocus again this new year. Talk to your doctors and see if dairy and gluten is an issue for you.

@@guatbabigirl I got checked for that. I am lactose intolerant but gluten isn't an issue for me. I went to a gastroenterologist too. Thanks for responding!

Healing Virtue, LLC girl I know! Pcos has been a battle for me. I got diagnosed when I was 20 and of course I learned how do manage my systems on my own. I’m still struggling with my weight but it will slowly all work out. And that’s good at least you know lactose is a no. How’s your water intake. I’m trying to up mine, pcos can have a lot of inflammation.

This video was exactly what I needed, and I'm convinced the universe placed this here for me. I stepped on the scale yesterday for the first time in months and was absolutely horrified. I was successful with losing weight in the past, and I KNOW I'm capable of doing it again. I'm making some changes ASAP!

Great video! I have tried keto diet but I only lost a pound a week. I tried vegan diet using boiled eggs in place of meat and I lost about 10 pounds after a week. Are you a strict vegan or do you eat some animal protein?

This a great idea. I imagine boiled eggs are very filling. They’d also be easy to take to work for lunch.

In 2020 I'm transitioning into a fully vegetarian diet.
Previously I've been mostly vegetarian but still allowed myself to have meat.
