  • So you’re heading to Niagara Falls and your trying to decided what to do and which side of the falls works best for you. In this travel guide I’m going to break down both the American and Canadian side to help you make the best travel plans for you.
    And now it’s time for 1 of 3 Tones Travel Tips!
    Don’t forget your passport it’s the only thing that was needed as an American citizen to go across and come back. However when crossing the bridge you might want to avoid peak travel times especially on weekends and holidays as I was told the lines can be as long as 2 hours. We crossed over at 10pm and then again at 5:30 am and only waited a few minutes
    Probably the most popular thing to do is the boat tour along the falls. On the Ny side it’s called the Maid of the Mist and on the Canadian side it’s called the Hornblower.
    We rode the Maid of the Myst
    While it looked to me that both are very similar on water the Ny side seemed to have one advantage that when you get off you can get up close and personal with the falls by walking up a pathway called the crows nest.
    On the Canadian side there are casinos off in the distant. But the part We visited was called Clifton hill. And oh my they have a little something for everyone. A giant Ferris wheel, miniature golf, haunted houses, a Ripley's believe it or not, where by far they have some very strange exhibits
    And oh yea A very fun go-kart track.
    And now it’s time for another Tones Travel Tip!
    Book all your major activities in advance as they do sell out. We tried to book the zip line on the Canadian side on a Sunday at 10:30 am and they were already booked for the day. Also pack your patience as Niagara Falls is a very popular tourist destination so there will be some long lines.
    The Views
    From the American side you can get some really nice views from several different vantage points. However the Canadian side you really get the full and amazing views of the falls. Plus at night with the lights is definitely a sight to see.
    By far our favorite part of our Niagara Falls trip was taking the cave of the winds tour which is located on the American side. They give you a poncho and sandals to wear and it’s a good thing because you’re certainly going to need it.
    There’s something so amazing standing right next to the falls. The sounds of the water falling. The smell of the water in the air. It truly is an experience worth doing.
    And here’s where those ponchos and sandals came in extremely handy.
    Here’s a my final Tones Travel Tip.
    Even if you’ve bought a ticket in advance like we did, you still have to go over to the cave of the winds tour to book a time for that day. No reservations are taken in advance. You will also want to go early. We got to the booth around 3pm and the earliest reservation they could give that day was 7pm. This worked fine for us as it gave us time then to enjoy the park and ride the maid of the myst.
    So if you’re going to Niagara Falls definitely try to get in one full day on each side. While there’s more activities to do on the Canadian side, the Cave of The Winds tour and the ability to go up the crows nest after the maid of the myst makes it a must do on the American side.

    Hi there! Great video. Just booked my flight for this October. Being from Florida, I'm looking forward to seeing some fall follage. Did you get a chance to visit any of the scenic hiking spots like Goat Island (US side) and Dufferin Islands (Canadian side)?

    • @TonedInEnt
      @TonedInEnt  5 лет назад +2

      Tara Justice hi Tara I’m from Florida as well and your going to love Niagara Falls. Unfortunately we were only there for 2 days so we packed in 1 day on each side and didn’t get to do any other exploring. If we did it over I would have given us probably 2 more days to do some other activities

      @TonedInEnt  3 года назад +1

      Isabela Garcia glad you enjoyed the video. What a bummer that we still can’t go over to the Canadian side but the American side should still be a lot of fun. Definitely do the Cave of the winds tour it was so much fun. As far as hotel stay, we stayed on the Canada side so there not really a hotel I could recommend on the American side but I did see plenty of hotels really close to the Falls

      Check out Airbnb stays if you're on a budget. On the other hand, if you stay at a major hotel and join a tour, you may have the benefit of being picked up and dropped off at your hotel.

      Yes I think one day on the American side is sufficient and definitely and experience. Definitely do the maid of the mist and Cave of the winds these are definitely experiences that I’ll remember forever

    We will arrive on a Monday night. We have tickets for the Hornblower the next day. Those tickets are good for all day. We also want to eat lunch at the buffet in Skylon Tower. We also want to do the Cave of the Winds. Should we do Cave of the Winds in the morning or the afternoon? Late lunch or early lunch to accommodate both?

    • @TonedInEnt
      @TonedInEnt  5 лет назад

      Rob Ferrara if your doing the horn blower that’s on the Canadian side and the cave of the winds is on the American side. We bought our cave of the winds tickets in advance but you can only make time reservations at the actual location. I’d suggest getting to the cave of the winds as early as possible. We had about a 4 hour wait. But then again we got there on a Saturday around 3 and the tour they gave us was for around 7. So if you go early especially if it’s a Tuesday you should be able to do the cave of the winds, grab lunch then do the horn blower

    • @TonedInEnt
      @TonedInEnt  4 года назад +1

      Normally you just have to go through the border patrol and see both sides. The Canadian has a better view. But I recommend both sides. Not sure how Covid has affected things right now

    • @wininspn
      @wininspn 2 года назад

      There's a bridge connecting the two sides. There are hotels on both sides, but I've noticed the hotels are more numerous and cheaper on the Canadian side.

      Jayden Ross I don’t believe so on the US. You might want to check the website if you’re buying a ticket for the boat or any activities but other then that it’s an open park where you can walk around and see the falls for free

    • @TonedInEnt
      @TonedInEnt  5 лет назад +1

      We did the maid of the mist on the USA side. We did buy our tickets in advance but they're good for any day till November I believe. So you don't have to worry about buying them for a specific day. I'd get them in advance especially if it's a weekend to avoid another line. I believe we booked directly on www.maidofthemist.com All the excursions we were just able to do that day except Zip Lining which is on the Canadian side, it was all sold out. So if your interested in that book in advance for sure. Hope you have a great trip we loved Niagara. Let me know how the trip goes

      Canada is a lot less crowded than the U.S. on the whole, but yes, Niagara Falls, Ontario is more populated than Niagara Falls, New York. The Canadian side looks more lively.
