Every time I tell myself, "Let me buy a Ferrari" , situations like this remind me to save my millions. The fact that they sue you for even modifying YOUR car is absolutely wild.
That's also funny knowing Ferrari didn't invent their own logo (inspired by a WW1 pilot's symbol) and that they were an Alfa Romeo racing team at their beginning. I wonder what Enzo would think of their current legal team.

I've literally hated Ferrari ever since La Mans cause how it was basically the Ferrari Show until Ford started winning with the GT40. But to be fair I really don't care for ford either I was just glad an American owned team stuck it to Old man Enzo and his unbeaten Ferrari.
companies at that time were just rolling the dice, and ferrari was so often lucky, but then other people also got lucky whilst also being better. Then the last time they were lucky enough to make a great car was the f40, and haven't topped it since
Why is everyone looking for pennies in the couch today? It's not like people that use Ferrari mods mostly never are actually going to be able to buy a Ferrari anyway... So it doesn't actually get in the way of their legitimate sales... And it doesn't tarnish the brand either... Ok it should have been officially licensed.. But no one (modders) can afford that. It's basically free brand exposure.. Or that is how they should look at it IMO.. But yeah, we're talking about a brand that sells official socks for 110 euro a pair and towels with their logo for 600 euro a piece (the smaller towels.. Like kitchen towels. The bigger ones are about 1200-2500 a piece).... So the touch with reality has been abandoned decades ago...

Ferrari doesn't actually sell cars. What they sell is the spot in the "elite" ferrari owners club. That's why they go so hard against everybody who would put as much as speck of dirt on their little club reputation. Cause when that reputation dies down the gig is up. On the other hand they don't care at all about lying to their elite clients about the actual numbers of their limited production cars in order to make more money.
I haven't driven a modern Ferrari in a game since the 458 in Test Drive Unlimited 2 on the PS3. Ferrari these days is akin to a Gucci handbag. Neither particularly pretty, nor useful. Pagani have stuck with the same formula that they're known for too.
Anyone who's played the story mode of GTA 5 should get this comparison. Ferrari has turned into the Devin Weston of the car world. They think they're big enough, bad enough, and have enough money that they can bully whoever the hell they want into whatever they want 'em to do. I get that the brand has been around FOREVER, and has major history in the racing scene, particularly, but I think it's about time they go belly-up if this is how "prestigious" they're gonna act, IMHO
though they can build nice handling road cars, Ferrari is just one of the companies you are confused as to why you like them because they really and I mean really don't care you exist. even their own customers.
Unfortunately every IRL car mod breaks copyright. The vehicle name AND likeness are both under copyright. Any car company can do this, at any time, for any reason. As Dytastic has said. "Ferrari, we're more of a lawfirm than a car company"
I still remember the story of the brazilian man who made a replica F40 in his backyard in his sparetime because it was bis dream car
and they sued him
and he had to destroy his almost complete job, his almost complete dream
And now they are doing it with games as well
"Love the art, not the artist" is what they said
SERIOUSLY? He almost completed the f40 replica and they decided to completely fuck him over?
That is worse than a dick move,i don't know what that would be.
I can't see that being holding up in court. There is no real marketing confusion or damage with a replica. All these storys have one thing in common: None of them have the power or will to fight it in court. If we could team up to show that we ain't they dummys. That could be important.
I honestly can't be bothered to care about a company as hostile as Ferrari. It's an exclusive club for tooting each others horns. I'd go for a equivalent Lamborghini every time (assuming I had the money).
yeah if I had money I'd totally go Lotus anyway
@@fillman86 Lots of trouble, usually serious
Fun fact: The 3D printed Lamborgini guy actually recieved a real Lamborgini steering wheel AND headlights from the brand themselves they liked it so much!
If they win the various lawsuits, then it's a law problem. To quote the Looney Toons: "It's pathetic, but it's not illegal" (to sue people over dumb sh!t)
this is why I'm more in favour of regulation, especially regulation over the government for being corrupt enough to protect copyright for so long
@@fillman86 Only that will never be happening, no politicans would accept not being bribed/lobbied by multi billion corporations to make rules to stop them being bribed/lobbied.
@@SavilianaSadly accurate, it's very rare that a mega company is not super corrupt.
ferrari about to sue fillman for using ferrari in the title
haha I wouldn't be surprised if I got a DMCA, though I'd fight it
@@fillman86good do it
@@fillman86 sue ferrari before they can sue you, big brain move
Same thing happened with Bluebird bus mod that the brand contacted BeamNG GmBH to remove the mod
yeah only just heard of that, and that's an even more curious case. Though it makes sense for them to not want footage of their seatbealtless vehicles carrying lots of children crashing on the internet
@@fillman86 I still don't understand why school buses don't have seatbelts really. The best you'd get is the first 3 rows having seat belts and only on a small bus.

This is certainly a Ferrari moment
it's like the guy you know who has a history of being a bad friend, but has been good for quite a while, then punches someone for no reason, and you can only think "yep, that's them alright"
The only company that's more litigious than Ferrari has to be Nintendo, even then it's a close second
and in the film world, disney would be at the top of the list too
Ford: Hey, that is why we don't act like them.
lol ford is also a pretty bad company, but they at least know what's bad for their image
@fillman86 Yeah, at least they don't say, "Remove all Ford car/truck mods now!!"
@@fillman86 yep (*cough cough* calling the mach e suv the mustang *cough*)that is probably the least bad example though.
@@Damian-cilr2 at least they're taking care of that situation, and the v8's returned.
Ferrari is just keeping in line with the sentiments of Enzo, who thought the people who bought his road cars were idiots. He only sold them to fund his racing team. Ferrari only exists for F1 and they haven’t done that properly in over a decade now.
The modders from the forums should just call it like "Civetta sf69" or something and change little details so it doesnt get taken down
haha we'll have to see how stringent the take down requests are from ferrari, but so far with the false flags, we think they just went ctrl+f "ferrari" lol
if ferrari starts looking too deep down into the models, then we will have to start making gta 5 like cars@@fillman86
@@fillman86 i think you can change the name to civetta and change the logo to the civetta logo, and thats it.

Still very much a dick move.
I hate how big companies despise of free marketing 😖
ferrari don't need marketing they have enough customers
When Lamborghini found out about the 3D printed Lambo, they actually sent real parts to them like the headlights and dash.
This is just stupid. Ferrari is sueing people who love Ferraris'. They should know that people who made a ferrari mod in a game or a bodykit irl is people who are intrested in Ferraris and like to make them better.
btw
Fun fact about a 3D printed lambo - Lamborghini themselves once donated headlights to a 3D Printed lambo project.
I believe that'd the project that I mentioned in the video :) even mclaren, who says they won't help fixed flood cars, will still at least quietly support them, and can be seen in videos too
@@fillman86 very true
At this point I don't understand why people love Ferrari so much. Aside from their history they always come off so arrogant. Rather support other brands.
Wow. This is just plain stupid. Heck, it's free publicity! Imagine how many little kids discovered Ferrari through games!
agreed, media is so segmented now and companies like mclaren and lamborghini are doing their best to make sure people in the media like them
Ferrari : you supposed to not do
that🤓
Other company : hello!, Here's the car and try having fun with it!
lol
I think you can still release a mod just called Testarossa, since they don´t own the rights to the name anymore xD
really? I didn't know that, but be sure to not use "ferrari"
True, after all "Testarossa" if I remember correctly means something along the lines of: "RED HEAD" in full English.
Civetta Testarossa
@@Turbo_J_Automotive yea the name originally came from the red valve covers

They’ve made like 5 truly good cars. Only Ferraris I’d get are the 458 and the 288 GTO.
One of the many reasons I love being an American car enthusiast is because they really don't care what you do with their car for all they care you could put a rubber pleasure part for the shifter, and they couldn't care less. We have been extensively modifying cars in the United States for over 100 years, and we are used to it. Some people would have issues but we don't we have done an inordinately amount of hiddus deeds to our cars, Oh how I would love to see such hideous things done to such a pecker of a company.
Every time I tell myself, "Let me buy a Ferrari" , situations like this remind me to save my millions.
The fact that they sue you for even modifying YOUR car is absolutely wild.
yeah, they're quite disreputable
I wonder if they might go for the other unofficial beamng mod websites too, cus stuff like Modland still have their ferrari related stuff
I get the feeling dodgy websites like that are hosted in countries where they don't care, and their email addresses are just black holes
That's also funny knowing Ferrari didn't invent their own logo (inspired by a WW1 pilot's symbol) and that they were an Alfa Romeo racing team at their beginning. I wonder what Enzo would think of their current legal team.
the logo was given to them by an aristocrat. It was their son's crest but he'd died in the war, so they wanted the famous ferrari to use it

I’ve seen vaping “gangsters” at my school have a better ego than Färrärï
It goes even so far that exhaust systems get sued because they can make some cars sound like Ferrari's... who the hell copyrights exhaust sounds... yeah... THEM!
Meanwhile Harley Davidson tried that because the sound is literally because of the engineering specific to their engine, and they got vetoed.
Every time someone asks why I don't like Ferrari, this is pretty much the reason why. Just about no one else does this. Their cars are cool. But fuck the company and how it's run.
yeah, they used to make cool cars back in the day
I've literally hated Ferrari ever since La Mans cause how it was basically the Ferrari Show until Ford started winning with the GT40. But to be fair I really don't care for ford either I was just glad an American owned team stuck it to Old man Enzo and his unbeaten Ferrari.
companies at that time were just rolling the dice, and ferrari was so often lucky, but then other people also got lucky whilst also being better. Then the last time they were lucky enough to make a great car was the f40, and haven't topped it since
@@fillman86 This is true, I'm a GM guy so I would've loved if GM actually developed I good rear engine car like the Vette C8 only way back then lol
Ferrari is the Nintendo of car manufacturers
