Thanks for that. I've made many unsuccessful attempts in the past to do this but yours works like a charm.
I hope you took away lots from this video and you managed to connect to your Raspberry Pi remotely from your pc. Let me know below!

This is an awesome quick video. Works perfectly without any bugs, as instructed. Thank you so much!
Man, I was using Barrier all the time but this is so much easier.
Thanks
The certainly better choice is to use something like "MobaXterm" or "eXceed Hummingbird", that utilize X-Windows protocol designed exactly for that purpose.
VNC is pretty crap, since it consumes a lot of network bandwidth for transfering compressed pictures of the desktop, instead of using X-Windows protocol. Actually this is true for most remote desktop protocols, that do rely on simply transfering compressed pictures of a desktop, instead of offering a real "window elements drawing protocol".
[edit] Besides that, nice video...
short and to the point video, thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial, everything went very smoothly! :)
Geez.. I have not played with my pi in ages I got hung up on arduino's (so much you can do with them) But I am gonna be digging my pi out shortly to play with it and this will work much better then ssh.. thanks my friend.. you always have the good stuff here..! I appreciate your hard work and the great way you explain things.. I am 67 and electronics is not my forte.. I just started to play with these things last winter and am still kind of in the dark yet.. (so much to know and it is hard for me to learn at this age) Plus this stuff is my winter projects stuff.. thanks for all your hard work, carry on !
You got this.
Thanks. Very simple and very informative. Good job.
Thanks for the simple tutorial. Will definitely be trying this.
I've watched countless videos and read many post's on how to do this, and this video is the only solution that worked for me!!! THANK YOU!! I really appreciate it!
Glad it helped!
Thank you! It worked perfectly. Just make sure you set a password on the pi to be able to access the pi through putty for the first time then everything else should work perfectly.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial :) Will give it a shot tomorow.
This is just what I needed. Thank You so much. 👍😊
Thank you very much. I did need a monitor though to enable ssh on the pi first. after that, everything you said worked like a champ!
One trick to enable ssh to begin with is to put your boot device into a computer and create a file just called ssh with no file extension. This is done by selecting text document and getting rid of the extension and name and replacing with ssh in the renaming process.
@@aaro_n thank you
Thanks, bro.. It still works in 2021...:)
Hi, thanks for a simple to the point video. I have read/seen many tutorials, and they make a hash of it. Do this, do that etc.... This is so simple... it was for me anyway. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment. That's the goal of my videos, to be simple and to the point. I am glad it was helpful. Cheers!
Thank you for helping me setup remote access. Now I can run 3 Raspberry Pi's headless. One of the Raspberry Pi's is running USB over IP to run a camera and laser engraver in the garage and now I can shut it down remotely after my job's are completed.
Great video! My raspberry pi 4 will be here today 👌
Bruh 🙂
Thanks, well explained and simple !!
great and simple tutorials. thank you.
Thanks it Worked perfectly for a short video
great to come across something that gives you what you need in a short video.
Great Video
I am glad it was helpful!
Thanks mate, great tutorial!
You can also use the RD Client app on a iPad to use xrdp and remote from a iPad into a raspberry pi.
Gracias... short and sweet video
Excellent, this has worked very nicely and easily. Thank you very much.
Muy bueno, sencillo y eficaz. Yo suelo utilizar el vnc. Pero no va tan bien. Gracias.
Wow so simple... thank you
Thank u so much for the video, fast and works perfectly fine
Nice .. simple and effective
Nice walkthrou 👍😀
super helpful! thank you!!!!
Top notch video. Thanks.
thanks a lot!!! it was what i was looking for!
Awesome video! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
This is great and straight forward. How can I go further and use it as a live video caster for multiple displays?
thank you so much, it works
this video is sooo goood. It's really really gooddddd
Nice video. But the reason im using TeamViewer over the internet is because I don't need to allocate a port in a router. The cons is TeamViewer needs lots resources. But yes, I use VNC for local network only, faster than TeamViewer.
Thanks for the video! Sadly, I keep seeing the light blue screen after I typed in the password. It doesn't show my Pi desktop
I've been having the same problem and idk how to fix this...
Have you guys solved your problem yet or not I have the same issue
Hey I just solved it by using vnc viewer instead of this.
ruclips.net/video/NWBmYnNvN3A/видео.html this is the video I used.
@@miguelnavarrete8578 I just added a new user and it works fine for me
thanks a lot mate
Thank you so much! I only have one monitor and this is going to make my life so much easier omg
Is that using RDP protocol or VNC? You installed both? RDP is much more usable speed wise, I've got VNC up and running but it's so slow I tend to just SSH in instead. If I could get RDP running properly that'd be handy.
Thanks. Appreciate it. :D
thank you man
Thanks for this tutorial
You're welcome 😊
I got it working Thanks
Very good 👍
I hope this can also help me reboot my RPi remotely!
Great video! Is this the latest and greatest way to remote desktop to an Rpi 4?
Need to make an account not the root user, in powershell 'sudo adduser ' then choose password and other info if you want. RDC with that info and this will work getting past the bluescreen and 'giving up' message.
thank you
Fantastic !!! Awesome one.
Thanks!
I’ve install XRDP many times for this same need. But I have never installed tightvnc server. What is the purpose of that ?
I don't know either... I only installed xrdp and it worked...
A really good quality vidéo but all is false !!!!
Tightvnc server install is a bad idea !!!
On the Raspi-config you can enable VNC server…so this is the real Way for using vnc. If your VNC is enable by raspi-config this tightvnc will kill VNC !!!!
VNC viewver is free and works better than Microsoft RDP .
XRDP dont really work with Microsoft RDP. To be sure of that: go on Pi, with a real keyboard and launch a software (a video for exemple). Return on your win10 pc, launch RDP >>> you will not see the program launched physicaly on the PI ( a video for exemple).
Do the same test with VNC server (enable by raspi-config) and VNC viewer installed on Windows10 pc … you will see the launched software on PI (a video for exemple)
… so VNC is better than RDP
Thank you soo much!!!!!
I have a pi4 running twister os
I had to use " sudo apt-get remove realvnc-vnc-server"
Then the stuff you did
Then " sudo reboot "
thanks man
i love your accent XD
can you portforward to access the PI outside the home network
Do we get good performance on 4gb raspberry for this purpose ?
very helpful !!
will this work on a Rock Pi as well ??
How to use two screens in rdc with rbp ?
Thanks
Whenever I try to use my raspberry pi IP address on my pc I get the error message "your computer could not connect to another console in session on the remote desktop computer because you already have a console session in progress" I followed your video exactly. Help please?
This working "online" or just in local area network in your home?
Hello, and thank you for the video. Everything installed as you showed, however, after connecting to my Pi, there is a very noticeable lag when making selections on my laptop. It takes 4 or 5 seconds for windows to open for for the programming languages, and a couple of other functions I tried.
Is there a way to speed up the connection between the machines? I've tried VNC Server and Viewer with the same results as using your method shown here. The laptop connects, but has a 4 or 5 second lag when making selections.
Thank you again, this is still good practice to learn my way around the Pi and its features.
Marc
Thanks, works
Thanks bru
I keep getting an all black screen each time I try to connect. I successfully enter my login credentials into the xrdp gui and a completely black screen comes up :/
Can you make one whereby one can connect outside the local network using application like IOS applications etc ? Thank you 🙏
Hey!I have a Rasp pi 2 model B with me.I have to work on a project.But I don't have a HDMI cable.pls tell me where to start
Can you show project about : Raspberry pi using Rc522 on PHP connect phpmyadmin
Thanks but you jumped straight to the bit when you where logged in to the Pi. For a bigginer that would be the bit I and many others would need help with.
when i remotely connect i can't interact with the raspberry it's like i was in spectator mode or something. but I can't move anything, what can it be?
Is is possible to have a solution other side to Windows ?
With an Ethernet connection. How fast in the input?
Trying for the last week to get the Windows Remote Desktop (win10) to work with the Raspberry pi4.
At one time all worked, but did not recall what version or RPI i had installed. Tried, Bookworm, NO LUCK! then decided to go back in time, to Bullseye, still no luck, then today 2024-03-14, installed Buster, full install. Did exactly what you stated in the video. I'm able to get the desktop, into the RDC, with the image and Icon from the RPI4, but the mouse will not allow or should I say, execute any of the icons! I'm at a total loss! Any ideas?
Regards
Dale
Thanks Man !!
Doesn't work..
Nice video but isn't VNC already on the raspberry pi, why not just use that by enabling it via raspi-config?
I thought the same thing. I actually just got done setting up a raspi4 and it works fairly well setting it up using raspi-config and tightvnc. SSH doesn't come enabled by default for security reasons so that has to be enabled via the creation of an empty file titled SSH. I think that this part was missing from this video.
Great tutorial! Thanks!
One suggestion - use apt instead of apt-get
Connection only possible via local network?
how do i enable the remote connection? because the raspi is on the wifi checks out and so the external acces is going against me
when i connect to it, i only see terminal
I was able to connect but I noticed that the remote screen from my laptop was not showing a live screen capture of my raspberry pi. I had youtube playing on my Raspberry but my remote desktop screen was showing the desktop screen instead without the youtube playing,
VNC server is already available in RPI just check sistem config and enable it.
But then you have to put the VNC on your PC.
I prefer to spread my data to less places but if you like VNC it's great.
I used it at work for a few years
does this work if the raspberry pi is on another network that has port forwarding to the raspberry pi?
You only need prot forwarding fot an internal external netwerkwork connection using NAT, not spesifically for routing toi an other network. The routers that divides the networks just need the correct information in their routing tables.
Is this limited to raspberry is only?
How to do it vice versa ?? How to connect to for ex. Virtual Ubuntu desktop on remote server using raspberry pi ???
a bit confused at 1:25 how do i get there, (with logging in and password)? is it a different tutorial
Doesn't work for me with Raspbian Bullseye 64 bit...
I end up with the RDP login, but then just the light blue screen with no icon/taskbar... like if no OS behind it.
You forgot to mention one very important thing: The computers needs to be in same network for this to work..
Does that work outside of Local Area Network ?
Yes I believe so.
Why do I need to install tightvnc?
I use Chrome remote desktop so I can access my Pi from my android phone anywhere I am; not just a local connection.
It is more convenient but not sure how secure this is. I currently use ssh and vnc for the same task as this means I have full control over the access (instead of giving it to google)
@@devluz Looks secure to me. All keys expire when you end the session and everything is encrypted back and forth. Micro$oft I don't trust.
I am not understanding where we have to write the command sudo apt .I can't see tht command window
my screen just stays blue with bar on top when i connect remotely? any reason why?
No reason just let it sit there for a second, that’s what worked for me
Anyone have any issues getting the display to work? I was successful in getting the connection to the RPi via RDP but it opens a window that is black with white lines go all through it like a TV on the wrong input. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've a similar situation. I see black screen.
@@ChrisToney Same, blank screen and nothing ever loads.
Does it matter that my RPI is on wifi and my desktop is Ethernet?
No, not at all!
