If you're a gamer/streamer you need to be really careful who you give out your Skype details to as by default people can get your IP address from Skype without even being accepted by you as a contact, there's some settings under advanced that I'd recommend changing to prevent this.
TheLazyPeon Really? That seems pretty silly (I don't use Skype). I remember back in the good ole days when all you needed was a packet sniffer and you could get the IP of anyone on AOL Instant Messenger from just one response. Back then everyone was on AIM so that combined with Back Orifice was how I passed time when I was grounded.

You don't get disconnected I often run at 5000 ping on csgo but tab only goes up to 996 so you have to type ping in console,

While I get this is supposed to be fast and simple, but the explanation for the DNS amplification attack is COMPLETELY wrong. What is done is an attacker sends a DNS request to an open DNS server on the internet with the return IP spoofed to the victim, and since the DNS response is much larger than the DNS request it is amplified significantly. (This is possible because DNS uses UDP and not TCP so there's no 3-way handshake to work with)

it happends today on October 21st 2016 on Dyn, twitter, ebay, spotify, reddit and many more sites... at 4:15pm EST, dyn and twitter are still down !
true ! life is back to normal ! just to say that the day a mojor attack will bring down all those sites for a longer period of time, it will dissrupt a lot of things in the life of millions of people ! that is scary shit how our lifes need internet for paying stuff, banking and all that social media bs...
I could be misinformed but the attack was just on Dyn. Dyn is the DNS for those sites so any person/ISP that uses Dyn as their DNS provider (many ISPs apparently do) will have trouble accessing those dozens of major sites like Twitter. afaik the sites themselves were still up, people in certain areas just couldn't access them. Please reply here if I misinterpreted this situation.

If you use google DNS it wont affect you. 8.8.8.8 primary 8.8.4.4 secondary. Google is VERY hard to DDOS

They are filtered because of the presence of firewall or some kind of obstacle is present so the network scanning tool cannot determine whether or not the port is open or closed

exede does this to their customers all the time by limiting them down to speeds slower then dail up or sometimes putting an nxc no domain connection up which is bullshit if you ask me (excuse the french) but yet

I have Exede, and some of the stuff they pull is ridiculous! They will sometimes go to the lengths of blocking sites like RUclips and most recently, Facebook.

The small, internet service provider we use is constantly under attack. Particularly when there's crazy news. Like recently, before the E lections, some of the contents from Hun ter Bi dens lap top was going around, everyone's Wi-Fi got too slow to do anything and lasted a few weeks. Turned out our ISP got attacked. Went back to normal after the El ection.
