See, I always knew that’s why other teams’ fans hated the Pats, but with KC I feel very different. I don’t dislike the 49ers despite them being in lots of super bowls, and even if it’s still fun to watch them lose, I’d really rather watch Buffalo beat KC. There’s just something unlikable about how all the media surrounding the NFL talks about and KC. It’s like they focus on KC to the detriment of actually interesting teams and games, which sucks. Whereas when the Pats were consistently good, the media coverage wasn’t quite the same. Aaron Rogers and the Packers got way more regular season/talkshow/social media coverage than Brady and the Pats from 2014-2018, despite the Pats going 3/4 in Super Bowls in that timespan while the Packers only made the NFCCG twice. Only DeflateGate was covered that much for the Pats during those years. Idk, maybe I’m just a boomer when it comes to social media and pop culture, despite being in my early twenties. I just don’t like the narratives that are being discussed right now. Looking back at coverage of the Colts-Pats rivalry in the 2000s makes me miss a time when NFL media wasn’t all about how good a handful of teams are (KC, SF, Dallas). I’d prefer if there was more about the Buffalo-Miami rivalry (even if I don’t like them both being good enough to have one) or the amazing story that is Baker Mayfield’s comeback as the Bucs QB. I just don’t get why 90% of the discussion is “oh look at Mr. Irrelevant” (he isn’t irrelevant anymore so we should get rid of the name) and “iS PaTRicK MAhOmeS tHE gOaT ALrEadY!?!??” (FYI he isn’t; he’s amazing, but he’s got years before he even grazes that title). He doesn’t just d*ckride Mahomes and the Chiefs or incessantly live vicariously through Brock Purdy. Anyway, this is just a long winded way to say f*ck the Chiefs; too many people are ready for half the locker room to blow a load on their face. And also f*ck Niners fans; y’all may be the most annoying dickwipes on earth. We know being annoying about Football is the only way you avoid not being able to rent your one room tent in an In-N-Out parking lot, but can you move on and just shut up about the “disrespect” the team/Purdy gets. The great thing about these reactions: regardless of who you root for, you can relate to multiple shades of pain. It's beautiful. And yeah, this might be the first time I just don't watch the super bowl.
As a Lions fan, I spent the entire week leading up to it extremely content with making it to the NFC championship game. Obviously I wanted to win, but I felt that we were still a couple of pieces away from being a true contender and that we were playing with house money. In my mind, whatever happened in the championship didn’t change the magic of this season. That said, to go up 17 points at the half against a better team on the road, to then blow it in spectacular fashion the way we did, hurts so so bad. This might be the most I have hurt as a fan and I have dealt with A LOT. But it’s not the type of hurt I had after going 0-16, or when I watched Patricia and Quinn completely dismantle the franchise and leave us bare. We have a great GM. A great owner. A great head coach who changed this culture and brought us to the NFC championship in year THREE. I’m not saying a Super Bowl or even making another NFC title game is a guarantee, but as a lifelong fan, I can finally say I feel pretty fucking good about the future of this franchise. One Pride forever.
On one hand you have a solid core of really good young players who are still easy on the salary cap--Laporta, St. Brown, Hutchinson, Gibbs, Sewell, etc. and this will be a valuable learning experience for them--think more inhumane version of the Dee Ford offsides AFC Championship game for the current Chiefs. On the other hand a lot of teams who seem to get to this point ahead of schedule also tend to go backwards the next year or more--the Jacksonville team that lost in the AFC Championship to the Patriots for example. I think your glass is more full than empty but Campbell needs to learn from this. On the macro level the "this is who we are" attitude is generally effective but sometimes you also need to take into consideration "this is what the situation is" as well because if you don't it can kick your ass on a micro level. There is a time and a place for everything and sometimes you have to zig when you would normally zag.
@@88wildcat I agree overall. The NFL is an extremely tough league, that’s why I said getting to this stage again is not a guarantee, but I am still hopeful. I don’t blame Dan as much as a lot of people do for the loss. His decisions to go for it were right there and should have been converted, the passes were simply dropped. Those get converted and this conversion is not happening. I keep in mind also that the Lions’ kicker has a 45% career success rate plus 40yrds, and the Lions have been at about a 75% conversion rate on their fourth down calls this year, so they clearly felt the odds were better to simply get the 3 yards. I do understand the criticism when you know you could/should have had 6 points, then lose by 3. Yet, hindsight is 20/20, I’m sure SF changes their game if we hit those field goals, and that still leaves me worried, as the Detroit defense didn’t get a single stop in the second half. That is not to mention the costly fumble, a multitude of missed tackles, awful secondary play (another thing plaguing the lions all year) and more. I will say the offenses’ call to run and burn a TO at the goal line at the end was absolutely horrible and imo the worst call of the game. I wasn’t sure whose decision that was, but Dan spoke to the media and took the blame for it. It cannot ever happen again and the lions need to make better play calls consistently throughout their games on every side of the ball. And since we had a real problem with starting our games hot and falling apart in the third quarter due to questionable play calling, this was kind of written on the wall for me looking at it now. All that said, that can be fixed if you have the right players and pieces in place, and I really think Brad Holmes especially is a game changer for us.
As a lions fan, I’m certainly not happy. But honestly? We made it further than I thought we would, so I’m not completely devastated. Let’s see how things go from here.
Honestly if I were a lions fan I would rather go out like the jaguars. Making it that far having victory in your hands with a massive lead only for your team to fold like that. They could have and should have won that game tbh.

I kept telling Browns fans it hurts worse to get close to winning a ring and losing than it does to go 0-16. You forget about bad years, but you never forget about epic playoff losses.
Of all the painful losses I've endured over the years, none are as painful to suffer through as this. Especially the buildup to make you believe it was going to happen first. We were so close to escaping all the memes about us, only to create new ones.
As a bills fan who has an alliance with the bengals we are intertwined after the Andy dalton game and we both hate the chiefs I feel the same. We’re both dead inside and have a common enemy I don’t know who hates mahomes and the quiefs more.
Watching the lions game yesterday was upsetting not because of mcdc's coaching ( listen youre either all in with him no matter if it works or not or youre not with him at all, people shouldnt complain only when it doesnt work ) but the big factor was everything went wrong in the third quarter and most of the fourth Dropped passes, dropped interception that ended up being a catch inside the 5, everything that couldve gone wrong did
It's one thing to ride with the this is our team's identity and we are going to run with it hell or high water mentality in the regular season when there is always next week if it backfires on you but you have to have a better sense of the risk vs. reward factor when you are playing in a loser gets to play golf for the next six months game. Yeah, there were a lot of execution flaws in the Lions second half performance that affected the outcome of the game but at least two of his coaching decisions were just absolutely brain damagedly stupid.
The Patriots reaction 😂😂 spot on, good job 👌 I have been telling Chief fans that ove the last few seasons they slowly morphed into the Brady era Patriot fans.
As a Seahawks fan, my immediate reaction to the Niners winning was indeed "Well, I'm rooting for the meteor"... I think Tom may have bugged my house...
The funny thing about the Colts fan reaction is that the Colts have actually been a thorn in the Chiefs' side the past couple years - the Jacoby Brissett Colts beat them in Arrowhead, the Matt Ryan Colts beat them in 2022 So I would not be surprised if Anthony Richardson plays the Chiefs and tears them to shreds at some point in the coming years
2:15 The difference is, the Lions won two Playoff games and have been on an upward trajectory each of the past three years. Not to mention, Brad Holmes has really been hitting with his Draft picks.
Thanks! Love the content Tom, keep it up, Rams may be my favorite team, but Packers are my 2nd favorite so always root for em except when against my Rams lol
@@spartaninvirginia Well, you did have your best season in half a century and your team is young. You guys will be back to the playoffs with more experience and higher expectations.
Now we see the reason why the finale of NFC and AFC north series lead to this. Both NFC and AFC North teams lost. Papa Caw Caw has failed. Lionel has failed. The North series finished too damn early.
You guys wouldn’t have beaten my bills. Bills own the dolphins like chiefs do us (for now but not long). I was rooting for you guys against the chiefs you had one job! I would have been fine with anyone else in the afc.
The good news is the lions have a playbook to follow. If they're a smart organization, they'll give goff a massive contract with a 4 year guarantee, then trade up for a qb in round 1, a backup running back in the second round, and a 5th string tight end in the 3rd. Then the next year trade amon ra st brown and a second round pick for a 25 year old defensive tackle and a receiver that can't catch. When they go 9-7 everyone will be apologizing for doubting the plan

I know exactly how Green Bay, Dallas and the Seahawks feel cos as a Spurs fan I have the same feelings about teams with red & white colors (United, Liverpool, Arsenal) and the concept of WHY is it always the same and we come up short and its one of those teams doing it to us. Right now we are 5th just outside qualification for the champions league and there's 2 red & white teams are in front of us. As a Lions fan who was at the viewing party at Ford Field, I go back to rooting for the other team I love that wears blue and white, last won a championship in the 50/60s, and is from the north...the Maple Leafs.
Since I was 4 years old has the Buffalo Bills fan there's always next year and that's why I was told by my dad did the Detroit Lions fan and became a Bills fan when he moved to Buffalo
Bills and lions time will come for now we just have to be the biggest 49ers fans and hope purdy is Eli manning.
"I think it's honestly just best for my mental health if I don't watch the Super Bowl." On point! 🤣🤣
"Just remember, we can't go up 10 points."
...Yikes
I kept telling Browns fans it hurts worse to get close to winning a ring and losing than it does to go 0-16. You forget about bad years, but you never forget about epic playoff losses.
As a Philadelphia Eagles fan, *you nailed it well Tom.*
0:31 Oh man coming back to this really is crazy 😭
Of all the painful losses I've endured over the years, none are as painful to suffer through as this. Especially the buildup to make you believe it was going to happen first. We were so close to escaping all the memes about us, only to create new ones.
0:31 “We can’t go up 10 points, at least 11” Uh oh.
As a bengals fan i couldn’t be less excited for this Super Bowl lol
This eagles fan feels the same.
@@cmorris9494I second all of that... at least Johnson, Desai, and Patricia got shitcanned, so there's that
As a bills fan who has an alliance with the bengals we are intertwined after the Andy dalton game and we both hate the chiefs I feel the same. We’re both dead inside and have a common enemy I don’t know who hates mahomes and the quiefs more.
Me 2 Steeler fan
Couldnt agree more - falcons fan
You absolutely nailed the bengals fan one haha. My exact thoughts. I’ll check the score when it’s over. I’m not putting myself through that
3:13 see Tom gets us Titans fans lmao
Watching the lions game yesterday was upsetting not because of mcdc's coaching ( listen youre either all in with him no matter if it works or not or youre not with him at all, people shouldnt complain only when it doesnt work ) but the big factor was everything went wrong in the third quarter and most of the fourth
Dropped passes, dropped interception that ended up being a catch inside the 5, everything that couldve gone wrong did
It's one thing to ride with the this is our team's identity and we are going to run with it hell or high water mentality in the regular season when there is always next week if it backfires on you but you have to have a better sense of the risk vs. reward factor when you are playing in a loser gets to play golf for the next six months game. Yeah, there were a lot of execution flaws in the Lions second half performance that affected the outcome of the game but at least two of his coaching decisions were just absolutely brain damagedly stupid.
As a Bengals fan I don't think I'll watch the Superbowl, just to keep my sanity in tact otherwise I'll need a therapist
As a Brownie, we would've LOVED to stick it to the Cravens with Joe Flacco! On the same note, when did the Cravens move to Dallas?
The Patriots reaction 😂😂 spot on, good job 👌 I have been telling Chief fans that ove the last few seasons they slowly morphed into the Brady era Patriot fans.
Lions got farther than i thought they would. Nothing to be ashamed of.
As a Seahawks fan, my immediate reaction to the Niners winning was indeed "Well, I'm rooting for the meteor"... I think Tom may have bugged my house...
As a lions fan this is literally my worst case Super Bowl. This is the one I least wanted to happen. I might not even watch it. Also I’m dead inside.
Def not watching lol. On to next year.
As a Patriots fan, that reaction was on point.
Really accurate lol😂 great videos Tom, keep it up. Grossi is the goat! Grossi is the goat! Grossi is the goat!
As a Cowboys fan I was thinking that very same thing.
As a Bucs fan that was my exact reaction. WE COULDN'T HAVE LOST TO THE NFC CHAMPS!
Another Banger Video!
Same for us Chiefs fans mate. 🤣
I rooted for the meteor in the AFC Championship game
-Me, a bengals fan
The funny thing about the Colts fan reaction is that the Colts have actually been a thorn in the Chiefs' side the past couple years - the Jacoby Brissett Colts beat them in Arrowhead, the Matt Ryan Colts beat them in 2022
So I would not be surprised if Anthony Richardson plays the Chiefs and tears them to shreds at some point in the coming years
And then the Colts go 6-11 losing to the Texans, Jags and Titans 😅 Crazy game...
Love your act. Can't wait for next season's show.
Lions are gonna feel the pain 24/7.
(See what I did there?)
I thought they might feel it on 4th & no FGs.
See that you stole this same comment everyone was commenting but I'm sure you'll get a bunch of likes cause you know..people are slow.
We've transcended pain. It's just numbness.
x_x
@@spartaninvirginia Well, you did have your best season in half a century and your team is young. You guys will be back to the playoffs with more experience and higher expectations.
Great video tom
The Seahawks fan speaks for us all.
I agree Tom, thank you!
As a cardinals fan, you have been getting my reaction right for the past couple weeks,
Texans fan here....
I still feel better about our team overall.
Now we see the reason why the finale of NFC and AFC north series lead to this. Both NFC and AFC North teams lost. Papa Caw Caw has failed. Lionel has failed. The North series finished too damn early.
as a Jag fan this year not making it to the playoffs hurt more than last years AFC champ game
As a Steelers fan, that was perfect. :)
“We can’t go up 10….”
Whooooops
As a Dolphins fan, it really does pain me of thought that “what could’ve been for us” meant saving the fanbase.
You guys wouldn’t have beaten my bills. Bills own the dolphins like chiefs do us (for now but not long). I was rooting for you guys against the chiefs you had one job! I would have been fine with anyone else in the afc.
absolutely spot on with the Patriots reaction, as a Pats fan.
I know who have to be referencing some other team but for the life of me I can't figure out who it is.
"We cant go up by only ten poits we have to go up by at least 11" misson faild 49ers
"Hell, I am in hell." This is truly my reality as an eagles fan.
At this point, you’re helping me understand my own feelings better than I ever could on my own. Thanks Tom.
Broncos fan here... the Avalanche are doing great!
Anyone else have their excitement for the Super Bowl just totally killed yesterday?
Me very much-- the anger at it gave me a headache!
As an Arsenal fan, Lions fans sound like us last May!
As a fellow Arsenal fan, I detect no lies here.
Australian Niner fan. My English FA team is Spurs and been that way long before Ange got there.
BUT AT LEAST we haven't had to sell our soul to a Russian Oligarch or Arab Oil Billionaire.
Atlanta after the catch off the facemask..."Wait...I know this script..."
As a Raiders fan, I appreciate the Raiders fan comment. Thank you Tom.
Love that you started with the Patriots fan.
Reminds me of where we're supposed to be spending Sundays...in CHURCH!
"And the first shall be last...yadda, yadda, yadda"
As an eagles fan, I agree
Me too
At least y'all got new and hopefully better coordinators now
@@ProBoltForever456 I’m very excited about the hires right off the bat vs when we got our coaches last year I was like “well we gotta see” I have much more faith. So fingers crossed lmao
As I Broncos fan, i genuinely got into hockey this year as a coping mechanism,
Also I had a photocopy of the Bengals reaction
The raiders one is so accurate💀 I felt like that astronaut banging in the window from interstellar after I saw the matchup 💀
As a Seahawks fan, you encapsulated my feelings perfectly
What did he mean?
As a Raider fan I too am rooting for the meteor ☄️
@@Ercer321. Dinosaurs and rebirth
Same 😢
I’M SO HAPPY NINERGANG
Love you videos really cool you should talk about nhl and nba too
Gotta love that soft bluegrass in the background
"Everyone's talking about 24-7 now, we're done with 28-3 right?😅"
Oh you naive little falcon fan...
As a bills fan, that’s about accurate. My heart. My heart.
That was great tom ty
a lot of teams who were perennially bad( like my Browns) are getting to experience a new form of pain: the playoff loss. Reminds me of the sensation of trying out sea salt on food; the flavor is a bit different, but its still salt. Too much salt. Salt in our tears, salt in our wounds.
Amen brother
3:10 great reference. I still remeber that chiefs vs titans game
As a Chargers fan bro you nailed it 💯
Idk what feeling is stronger, my distaste at the fact that we have to see the chiefs again. Or that the Lions were _so_ close to getting to their first Super Bowl.
I’m so sad as a lions fan. We did have a great year though. Still sad
Love your video Tom and keep up the great work you are awesome
As a panther fan who's team is singlehandedly funding the 49ers their super bowl run through CMC, yesterday was a grim reminder of how bad we were fleeced. 😔
Yeah remember how originally it was we both won the trade lol nah we pulled highway robbery
True and real. Our GM really screwed up. At least you guys know how to actually use CMC well instead of running him into the ground like we did.
Agreed my fellow fans 🏈
See this the problem with certain fanbases This why I respect Detroit Lions fans more than any other fan base. Everyone always complains about the fact the player they loved got traded. Can't be happy that they could be getting a Superbowl ring. That's why Cleveland fans suck & that's why a lot of other fanbases suck. It's just this fact, Deroit fans are never going to be mad that Matt Stafford got a super bowl ring on the Rams.
Best way to open this video! 😂😂😂 As a Ravens fan … this hurt
